I don't agree with this statement one bit and i'm under the assumption it comes from the fact that maybe the scene has gotten TOO used to side projects lately. Doing side projects shouldn't be used as a cop out, ESPECIALLY to a reoccurring problem. Its dismissive in this case, especially since we have clear evidence that its effected one of the members negatively.

This. I became frustrated with the band in a similar fashion as the GazettE when they started falling off the wagon, post DIM. The music was complete ass but the looks stayed consistent. At least with the GazettE, some of the blame could rightfully be shifted towards the label switch to Sony and after DIVISION, they started dropping significantly better music. Mejibray, unless I'm correct didn't have that (kind of )issue. They just got worse and worse over time musically but again stayed consistent with the stellar looks. Its clear that they became complacent with where they were, the die hard fans they accumulated, and had no indication of evolving their sound. There's nothing wrong with that but for a band that had so much potential, you really can't blame people for jumping ship at all. I'm also under suspicion that another reason why Mejibray fell off was because whoever their main and possibly only song writer was, must've ran outta steam hella quick. It became to hard to start telling songs apart....

I was for sure after Kisaki's antics last time (is there really ever a last time with him though?) that we wouldn't see much from him. Guess I was wrong. This is cool...? I guess.

They all don't rock with each other like that, period. Pretty sure it was Kaoru who stated that they aren't brothers/friends anything like that. They just work well together musically. With that in mind, of course there's gonna be those one or two members that "stands out" in a manner that Shinya does. That doesn't equate to something being wrong with the dynamics of the band.

Pretty sure this same “lost it” conversation happened when STU dropped, yet ARCHE came out soon after and it was received pretty well. If NINGEN was dropped before UTAFAMI then I guess I’d entertain this convo again but nah. There’s some kind of progression happening here and I think whatever they drop next, whether it’s an album or another single will be pretty enjoyable. Could it be as enjoyable as my personal favs? Idk. But I’m not counting them out yet.

Curiosity led me here and just peeped the video. I'm still trying to decipher what y'alls hype is with this band. So far, the second song is the only one that sounds like it'll be worth checking out this release for.

Aoi’s sound has improved drastically over the last few lives. I’m for near certain he’s just using the 7 string cuz it sounds heavier. As interesting as djent GazettE sounds, thats as likely as XJapan dropping their new album and SKIN reuniting to drop one release. Ruki is not letting drastic change happen. But i wouldn’t be surprised if Aoi or Uruha have demos of that Genre chillin in their personal vaults.

Hageshisa has a handful of performances where it’s RAW af. But I do agree with the shoehorning though. Funny, it’s only the recent singles after Rinkaku that I feel this is a thing.

Had this shit on repeat so I feel like I can give a proper review. Ningen is a pretty cool A-Side. Its simple like Utafumi but the riffage and forcefulness makes it that much enjoyable. The chorus is cool in a haunting way especially the end part. Its nothing too special but this can hold me over since I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I didn't care much for the OG version of ASH but the remake is surprisingly well done. I miss being able to groove along to a Dir en grey song and it feels like its a proper blend of their older and recent stuff unlike EASY MAKE which seemed like it belonged exactly on The Unraveling. Utafumi live isn't that bad but i'm sick of that track and consider it one of Dir en grey's weakest songs/releases. They could've opted Utafumi with another recent song and id be fine. Placing it as the live song was poor decision. Lets see what else comes of this.

This is better than Utafumi. And I can tell this will get more plays than Utafumi ever will. It’s a rockin track but i guess I was looking forward to more variation on the guitars. I’m still kinda bothered that it sounds hauntingly similar to Un Deux. I hope whatever they do next suprises me because as much as I like this...I’m still waiting on a track to make me insert the shocked black guy gif. I haven’t felt that way since ARCHE and even then only a handful of songs from that album warrants a response like that.

Idk....I felt like Dozing Green did a great job at shedding away from TMOAB. The cause of alarm here for me is that unless im mistaken, I don't think there's been a Dir en grey song in memory till now that i can say that it "sounds exactly" like (insert song). This sounds (so far) uninspired just like Utafumi, even though Utafumi does pack a punch to it.

Kaoru said that he's aiming for something new and fresh with their new work but yeah this doesn't seem to reflect that so far.

Chorus sounds solid Ill wait for the full song. Kaoru's new Viper looks dope though.
