  2. This forum needs a general Hip-hop thread. Probably going to make one soon unless somebody does it first :D

Been thinking about this too, but haven't bothered since all my threads dies within one week anyway. Need a general punk thread too.

Those + General dance music /turntablism thread

There are way too many good, obscure japanese DJs /dance musicians to be found (not going to create the thread tho - someone can do it instead of me :bunny: )

Well, it's a bit offtopic, but here are my DJ recommodations, not all of them are into dance music, but they all release quality stuff! ;]

DJ Mitsu The Beats (Jazzy hiphop, also in the rap group "GAGLE")

DJ Baku (hard hitting hiphop, also in the group "DJ Baku's Hybrid Dharma Band")

DJ Krush (jazz/hiphop/triphop/a bit of dnb and dubstep)

    Makoto (soulful/liquid dnb)

    Akiko Kiyama (minimal techno)

    Satoshi Tomiie (melodic garage/house)

DJ Kentaro (hiphop/dnb with incredible turntable tricks)

    DJ Technorch (hardcore/gabber/techno)

    Goth-Trad (dubstep/noise/hiphop)

    DJ Yas (hiphop)

    DJ Aki (dnb)

    DJ Sharpnel (speedcore/gabber)

    DJ100mado (dubstep/grime)

ALYN (member of Nakata's (Capsule) monthly party series, called "Fresh". Grime, fidget electro, with a bit of hiphop.)

    Also, supporting the threads!

  3. on topic: hey, OldCheesey! did you listened to the RADICAL album?

Nope. I've only checked out some stuff on youtube for now. Radical's worth getting?

I think yes, it's a real Odd Future album, nearly every important member appears on it...Tyler, The Creator; Hodgy Beats; Wolf Haley; Earl Sweatshirt - so it serves as a good "introduction" album, and it has some quite awesome tracks too, so get it. ;]

  4. @Arithmetica and Peace: It annoys me when people whine about wanting Japanese music to be cheaper, but refuse to take advantage of options like iTunes and such (when they are perfectly capable of doing it). I don't think that supports your case very well, at least in my opinion.

It would be great, if iTunes would be avaiable in my country too - but still, I don't get people who problem about not being able to buy from japanese iTunes, because you can always get a card at eBay at a cheaper price (compared to some webshops). Of course, I don't always have the money to buy all the albums I'm intrested in, so I download many times - but on the other hand, there aren't too much good CD shops in Budapest, and many of the existing ones are extremely expensive, so I usually buy CDs (or some other merchandise) at the concerts I'm attending to. Not only because I think that they are cheaper there, but because I think if I buy the CD there, a bigger percent of the money will be their.

I understand that everybody wants to get paid for their work/music, but when I read interviews with Kiwamu or with other people, I always find it strange that they think of file sharing as one of the worst things in life - c'mon, I think many of us wouldn't even know that vk exists or would gave up searching for music because they have absolutely no luck. Don't want to say that file sharing is the best thing on earth, but thinking about it as the worst things in life is wrong imho. It's a kind of promotion, I think. Most of the companies can't accept, that times are changing, and the older way of selling music does not work, that's the reason they fight so hard against illegal file sharing - but on the other hand, many bands realised, that they earn much more money with touring; I talked with many hungarian bands, and they also said, that the biggest part of their income is from the gigs (that's why I usually prefer concerts to buying CDs), not from the CDs. That's why I like contacting bands directly about buying their CDs, I get the feeling, that I'm paying directly to them, not for the record companies/CD shops.

I usually share what I got, because for example, I know, how much I wanted to have lloy's last EP, and that I had to spend much money on it, and I don't want others to go through this process: but I hate when somebody bully me because I don't want to share a CD I've got.

    :staru:

  5. CAT, could you help me with Taihei Asakawa's "Catastrophe in Jazz"? Really liked the linked preview (it had a solid free-jazz taste too, which I really adored), would be intrested about the full album.

  6. My parents don't really care about it, altough they sometimes they tell me, that they like the song I am listening to (AMWE's songs for example). My dad is also happy, that I'm so intrested about music. My friends don't really care about it, but sometimes they say that they actually liked some of my recommodations.

  7. @Chianti: Sweet! Good to see, that I'm not the only one here, who likes Ikonika! Her debut album was one of last year's best dubstep releases, and it always reminds me of Mortal Kombat; songs like "Video Delays" are the best from "Contact, Love, Want, Have" - feels like I'm an autobot, haha! And Satanicpornocultshop is fun! (^o^)y

  8. I think first, I will also open my contribution with some tracks I like:

(Shackleton + King Midas Sounds = AWESOMENESS.)

    nUQonOU38VE

Jamie XX from The XX to collabrate with Gil Scott-Heron and rework his last album "I'm New Here"? Sounds odd, but it turned out to be surprisingly good - and NY Is Killing Me is one of the best songs from "We're New Here".

    W7c3wRzUUjs

It was quite surprising, that Zomby has signed to 4AD, a label which focuses mostly on rock, because his music is quite far from rock'n'roll - Natalia's Song from his fresh new album, "Dedication" is a mixture of sexy r&b vocals, dark and Burial-like rhytms, and a bit of trance. Great music!

    tiyxPeuBf0M

Burial + Four Tet = AWESOMENESS. I also like the two new tracks with Thom Yorke on vocals (Ego, Mirror), but this is the classis song from this duo.

    PdTbgx5ZXSk

...and a last one simply because we can't get enough of Flying Lotus.
