Body for sure. For real? I mean... fat girl can always loose weight but it's much harder to change an ugly face... unless you hit it with a chair... A pretty face is definietly not everything. I mean it's maybe just me, but I usually think that the personality is more important - it doesn't matter whether you have a beautiful body/face if I can talk about nothing with you, etc. For me, the face of my actual girlfriend gets more and more dear to me as we are together for more and more time - and it doesn't matter if she doesn't have the prettiest face. So I think, I would go for the body too.

Toru from Psysalia recently blogged about what's going on with the band. Most of the entry is about the forthcoming new single, but there is also something about their drummer: I didn't want to post this to the 'News' section until I don't know it for sure, but it seems, that the drummer left the band (?). Google Translator isn't the best source, so I would be glad, if somebody, who knows the language or knows more than me could tell us, what happened. Anybody?

  8. I was surprised too, but in a good way and I must tell, that I'm glad, that Arcade Fire won the Grammy. What I actually found strange, is that so many people don't know them - their first album, 'The Funeral' was also nominated for the Grammy, they are headliners at the world's biggest festivals, and their last album was even the #1 at Billboard's Chart and at the Canadaian Albums Chart. It seems, that is more because of their loyal their loyal fans, not that they got more popular.

  13. The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble / The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation OHP MYSPACE The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble started as the project of Gideon Kiers and Jason Köhnen (also known as Bong-Ra) in order to make soundtracks for the films of Fritz Lang, or F. W. Murnau (Nosferatua, Metropolis, and so on). Later, as the project started, more and more people joined to the duo, until it's reached it's current form, the form of a real jazz band. And as the number of the members continued to grow, their style also changed - more and more acoustic elements were added to the original, more electro-influenced jazz, and they also found a singer, Charlotte Cegarra. But other elements haven't changed - the dark/doomjazz, inspired by the silent films of Murnau, Fritz Lang, the pictures of Goya, the animations of an Švankmajer. One of Kilimanjaro's best ability is that they can build and keep up an atmosphere, which is beyond words - like a walk in the land of Hades, like a dark and narcotic travel to a silent, black and white film. Cinematic atmosphere, with slow-burning jazz which sometimes assimilates post-rock, IDM, trip-hop and other styles, making it a real 'mutant jazz' combination. Not a surprise, that TKDE is signed to Planet Mu, one of the best labels, when it comes to IDM or to breakcore. Charlotte Cegarra's haunting vocals are just the icing on the cake, taking TKDE's emotional punch to a higher level - I've seen her performing live, and she is just incredible, I was shivering from the beauty and from the unearthliness of her voice. Not to mention, that during their live performances, their VJ is the duo of the Quay brothers, taking their gigs to a whole new level, and perfectly reflecting how a film to the group's music would look like. Also, we should talk about The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, the heavier, darker, dronier alterego of TKDE, with a bit folk addicted to it. Drone jazz, someone could say, but I have to tell, this side of TKDE is not so appreciated by me, simply because it is sometimes a bit too static for me - but they get better from album to album, integrating the listed styles into their darker-TKDE style. But not only their darker and dronier sound makes them different from the 'mother band', but they also a real improv band, in the sense, that they really gather to a studio, and improv to that film. If you ask me, I advise you to start with 'Anthropomorphic', their latest release. It's just out of this world, and adding a cello and a violin to their style is a great idea. And also, just lie down, and let the music take over you. So, to sum up things, if you like Bohren & der Club of Gore (mainly their album 'Black Earth'), the later, more experimental Talk Talk, kammerflimmer kollektief (mainly their album 'Cicadidae'), give them a try. Some of my favourite song from these two bands: The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble: , The MacGuffin, Horns Of King David, .The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation: the two snippets here will give you a perfect taste of their sound. Also, good news for the fans, that TKDE will release their longly-awaited new album, titled 'From The Stairwell' in April. Two tracks are out from the album, I close my post with them. Animal's Kingdom Easily one of the best movies of 2010, together with Black Swan.
  15. I can only add Dazzle T & Quicky to the list, because they also had some drum and bass songs, but as I can see, they've only released some 12"s - according to Discogs.

The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - Horns Of King David Still <3 it.
  17. Japanese drum and bass. I know that Makoto is a good drum and bass DJ, and that Cycheouts Ghost (Vikalpa, Sim Stim tracks for example) plus Masirano have some d'n'b-influenced tracks, but that's all. Oh, and I remember, that there was a complication, named Future Sound of Tokyo, but that's pretty much all I the artists which come into my mind.

It seems, that ミドリ will release a last live DVD of their last performance at 2010.12.30, LIQUIDROOM ebisu (?). The DVD will be titled '??よ??ら??後藤??ん。' and will come out at 2011.04.06. The first DVD will contain the whole, 17 songs long concert, including the encore too, and the second DVD, which comes with the Limited Edition, will be a collection of video clips. Source: natalie. Hm, intrested about this one. I didn't listen to their music lately, but I always wanted to see one of their gigs - shame, that it will only remain a dream. ^^; But well, it will be better than nothing, their previous DVD was good too.

I know, that it is a bit early, but I think, we can start with reviewing the two songs, and than later, when the album is out, review the whole album. Hope that it's alright, if not, mods should close this topic. Still, as you know, ART-SCHOOL's Riki Kinoshita has a new band, called killing Boy, and from their self-titled album, which is due to March 9, they shared two on their MySpace. Let's share our thoughts! Call 4 U I got the feeling during the song, that I'm listening to a weaker and boring ART-SCHOOL ballad - my biggest problem with the song is that has no memorable parts, just -maybe- the well used electronica. I like Riki's voice, and his english is okay (for me, at least), but the whole song is VERY general, without outstanding points, or such. I mean, really nothing happens in the song, which would make it a bit more memorable - but I like Riki's 'call my name' parts. 6,5/10 Frozen Music Ah, this one is better! I really loved the drums, they sounded a bit afrobeat-ish for me, and the whole song had a strange post punk/shoegaze atmosphere. There were also some better guitar riffs, and the whole song just works for me - and it's a good thing, that Riki sings more powerfully, more confidently. The drums kept the song upbeat, and oh fuck, keep thing simple, I liked the song. Nothing really world-changing, but no-one expected it to be that, right? I'm giving it a 7.4/10. Your thoughts?

It seems, that not. Maybe the price of the DVD is included in the admission fee, but I can imagine, that it is a surprise, since there aren't too many things on the DVD. And agreed about the live, their albums are okay, but I guess their live gigs are their real strength, Steve Tanaka said, that at their live performances, they really know, how to work the crowd. I have something simular with miscorner/c+llooqtortion - I really enjoy/love their albums, but I always have a feeling, that they just can't reproduce the intensity the atmosphere of their live performances on their releases. I got this feeling when I was listening to their last release, that it's good, but it would sound so much better at one of their gigs. /off.
