Well, it might be a bad idea, but I think, it can work. So, releases, you are looking forward, why are you looking forward to those releases, expectations, and so. Don't want this tread to be another 'upcoming release date list', so please don't just write down that this and this album, but comment it. My list: 2011/03/11 Joy O – Wade In 2011/04/13 Merpeoples - メトロ??リス 2011/03/14 FaltyDL - You Stand Uncertain 2011/03/16 0.8秒????撃。 - Machizou.Machiko.Hakai 2011/03/16 NAOITO - 379days 2011/03/22 Jeremiah Jae - Rappayamatantra EP 2011/03/29 The Pains of Being Pure at Heart – Belong 2011/04/05 Matthew Dear – Slowdance EP 2011/04/06 Lillies And Remains – TRANSPERSONAL 2011/04/06 the loud function - World of Monochrome 2011/04/11 Jamie Woon - Mirrorwriting 2011/04/13 8-eit – My Bullet 2011/04/13 Heavenstamp – Stand By You EP + Remixes 2011/04/19 Pantha Du Prince – XI Versions Of Black Noise 2011/04/26 Prefuse 73 - The Only She Chapters 2011/04/26 Anthony And The Johnsons – Swanlights EP 2011/05/03 Hooray For Earth - TRUE LOVES 2011/05/10 The Antlers – Burst Apart 2011/05/11 8-Eit - 絶望?????????花??を???? 2011/05/11 Owarikara – Iggy Pop To Sanbika 2011/05/11 ???ゃ人間 - ????ア??祈り 2011/05/31 Shabazz Palaces – Black Up 2011/05/25 COLD KITCHEN - 断罪??フィード??ック 2011/06/XX white white sisters - ? Really looking forward to hear some more hip-hop releases, didn't really heard any japanese hip-hop album from this year (except Nitro Microphone Underground's new album, but that was just well, okay), but that was some quite outstand western hip-hop releases (the solo album of the Antipop Consortium MC, Beans; Dels's album, and the new The Streets album has some nice hip-hop songs too) - and more coming! Really can't wait to hear, how the new 8-Eit and Psysalia Psysalis Psyche singles with sound - I really like, that every of Psysalia's singles are different from the other, I would like to see, how they can build in ambient sounds into their style, I REALLY intrested about the forthcoming three singles. Just as much as I want to hear the new Owarikara, their last release was great, hope they pack more funk into their next release - I would be intrested about a collabration between them and Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro. xD Hope that there will be a new Twin Shadow album dropping in this year, and well, I would like to hear something new from 6Eyes and silver spoon eyeball too! Would really like to see some fresh and good japanese albums too! What are your expectations? Share your thoughts! (Oh, about western releases - I personally don't mind, if you write about them too, and as I saw, there were some talk about western bands for example in the 'bands with multiple of unusual instruments' thread, but I think, it's not too much to ask, to keep it short. I think the same rule should apply for the release-listing, but if you have different thoughts, I'm all ears! Hope the mods will find this topic okay too. ^^

Ah sorry, it is my fault, I forgot to change the links. ^^; @Tony: If you liked 'Night', you should check out her album, 'Stridulum', not only, because that song is included on the album, but also because it is one of her best releases, songs like 'I Can't Stand' are great.

It seems, that after their gig at the 20th of March, Buffalo'3's bassist, Fujita (on the left) will leave the band, because of family reasons. And because of his decision, the band decided to go on hiatus - claiming, that they can return anytime. Source: this post.

Zola Jesus OHP MYSPACE Zola Jesus is the solo project of the russian/american singer-songwriter, Nika Roza Danilova. On her earlier records, like on 'New Amsterdam', or on 'The Spoils', she played a weird mix of lo-fi, noisy pop and industrial - from this era and style, I can recommend you her album with LA Vampires (it is also one of her best releases), and 'Burial Hex'. But after her album 'Stridulum', she turned into a more poppy, and radio-friendly style, but of course just as much as this kind of music can be poppy and radio friendly. Stridulum got me into her music, and I can advise everybody to start with it - the voice of Nika Roza is deep and strong, with full of secrets and promises (Okay, this sounds like gothish, and such, but I have to admit, that it's the TRUTH.), slow and hard hitting industrial beats, with the good use of synths, and the whole release has no weak points. But unfortunately, her latest release, 'Valusia' couldn't keep up the quality - Zola Jesus started using piano (Lightstick) and strings, it's just misses the heaviness and deepnes, what 'Stridulum' had. Still, I'm really curious about how her music will evolve, and really wait to hear more from her, because I think she is a very talented artist, and the deserves the attention. Some songs: (from 'Valusia') (from 'Stridulum') (from 'Stridulum') (from 'LA Vampires meets Zola Jesus') (from 'The Spoils')

Agreed about Yni Halda, they are a wonderful band!

Same for me, I had a period, when I was very much into post-rock and into nearly all post-rock bands, but I think I just got tired of them - and most of the post-rock misses the soul, imho. Still, I'm intrested, for example about Explosions In The Sky's new album - "Earth Is Not A Cold Place" was a big favourite of mine, but the previews sounded just...bad. Most of the post-rock nowdays just sounds the same, or I just always pick the bad/generous ones. xD However, bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, iLiKETRAiNS (even though I prefer their older material like "The Beeching Report"), Mono (they are awesome on stage!), and so on. And some shameless promotion, since I think, hungarian bands really deserve the attention: pozvakowski. Experimental post-rock, with some noisy veins, and cinematic soundscapes. One of the best hungarian acts, and one of the best bands, when it comes to the visual side of their shows, because they always use about 8 movie projectors, screening antic black and white films, and others, which goes very well to their music. They have some strange vibes in their music, which can cause some surprised moments for you (think of their cover of the legendary surfrock band, Man Or Astroman?'s song, ).Choice With No Voice This band is more into the "classical", intstrumental post-rock, with some psychidelic, Pink Floyd-like flavor. Good band.

So, for Miasma: Failotron One of Hungary's leading artist, as far as 8bit/chiptune is concerned, and he's also one of the organisers of Hungary's biggest 8bit/chiptune event, called 'Budapest Micro'. And sometimes he uses his guitar during his live performances, and also at his other project, 'Kanagawa'. Sabrepulse Well, he is not so, let's say, experimental, as failotron is, but still awesome! \o/ Every song is based on some 8bit beep harmonies, and it is usually mixed with some other styles, like happy hardcore ( ) or strings and breakcore ( ), and so on. I believe nearly all of his stuff is free to download, I would advise you to start with Verão ( is my favourite from him!).Nullsleep His music was the point, where I admitted, that chiptune/nintendocore music can transmit emotions too. Beautiful songs, but still, he is a real party animal, I had the luck to catch one of his gigs, and it was sick, one of my greatest parties! I think most of his stuff is free to download, Nintendo Game Boy is his favourite release, start with -maybe- Supernova Kiss. Oh, and if we talk about 8bit/chiptune, I have to link this too, since it is one of the coolest videos ever made.

Ah, you're right, pardon me. ^^; Yes, I was speechless too, when I met with this thing for the first time. It was strange to see, that DJ Scotch Egg plays some hardcore/gabber music, and then takes up one of his gameboys, and start using it, as it was just another instrument. But now I pretty much think, that it's a great idea, and the sign, that nearly anything can be used for making music. If you are intrested, you should check the line-up of the Budapest Micro / Blip Festival events, and I give you some recommodations in the other topic. ^^

Kawabata Makoto, and I think the whole Acid Mothers Temple collective uses a fair amount of unusual instruments - for example, during his solo performance, Kawabata used a headless guitar, tibetan singing bowls and bells, and such. Akaten also uses a wide variety of instruments, ranging from empty glasses to their own cipzars (the part of their concert, when they were just jumping around, using only their cipzars to make noises was hilarious. xD) Also, I think we should add most of the nintendocore/chiptune/call it as you wish artists here - for example DJ Scotch Egg, who uses his Gameboys in order to create melodies, or the hungarian failotron, Sabrepulse, Nullsleep, and so on. Daedelus's instrument, the Monome.

The band 'about tess' has two drummers, two guitarists, and two bassist. And also, Merzbow has a very unusual, guitar-like instrument, which he uses during live performances - it's made of pieces of metal.
