I actually was debating to post a Mukai one, but I was afraid everyone would figure out it was me right away.

From my personal experience - D'espairsRay fandom. They are pretty laid back, not too stuck up but not too many idiot, delusional fangirls among their ranks either. They aren't afraid to offer criticism of the band, but they aren't incessantly whiny and derogatory about changes the band makes and they maintain a positive, sane outlook. Even their fangirling is moderate.

^ This, but you also need to create another iTunes account under iTunes Japan and create a fake Japanese billing address.

I wish every time an artist sucked/started to suck they would disband. But that's not how life works.

NG's Top 5 of 2011 Hello, everybody! ^____^ The year 2011 was full of so many awesome releases, in my opinion. However, I decided to dedicate this post to the releases that left the greatest impact on me. Listening to each of them takes me back to some memorable part of 2011. Edit: Everything should be fixed now! ^___^ Sorry, I'm new to the Dropbox thing. 1. Cinema Staff - Cinema Staff Sample Song: "Cockpit" This album was the highlight of my summer. One of its defining characteristics is the variety of lovely, catchy guitar and vocal melodies. It contains Cinema Staff's usual blend of pop and post-rock. It's an instant candidate for multiple replays. 2. Andymori - Kakumei Sample Song: Peace For what this album lacks in length, it makes up for in its youthful energy. It is an incredibly fun album that is also full of great pop melodies with a bit of an underlying punk sensibility. The new drummer Kenji certainly proves his abilities and I will enjoy hearing his drumming in future releases. 3. Anthem - Heraldic Device Sample Song: Blind Alley Japanese metal legends show that even after twenty-five years, they've still got it. For fans of classic style heavy/power metal, the album should not disappoint and for those unaware of the non-visual side of older Japanese metal it is an instant recommendation. It was totally worth the two year wait for its release. 4. Boris - New Album Sample Song: Black Original Boris' new major/pop direction did not at all disappoint, despite their reputation as an experimental metal band. The album embodies a darker, seductive side of pop as opposed to the cheesy, cheap side that usually characterizes a band that has gone "poppy." Those who have strayed from Boris due to disliking their harder metal or drone releases may want to give this a spin. Strangely, out of their other releases, I found this to be the most enjoyable. 5. B'z - C'mon Sample Song: Sayonara Kizudarake no Hibiyo B'z never fail to make me happy; any year with a new B'z album released is a pretty darn good year. Good, easy listening pop-rock and ballads featuring Tak Matsumoto's Grammy award winning jazzy/groovy guitar playing and Koshi's emotion-filled voice.

This is old news to me personally, but still . . . I LOVE IT! Trippy song and video game.

Oh . . . how could I forget the X Japan's "Jade" single. I feel sorry for the fans that waited almost three years for that mess.

My dad used dating sites and met a few girlfriends that way (he used Zoosk), but no lasting relationships ever formed and I have doubts that was even his intention.

Dir en Grey - DUMB Spiro Spero No, not really. Although it wasn't my personal favorite. I thought Versailles' album was bad, but I can't decide if it was lame enough to be considered among the worst. It had some good points to balance out the hilariously awful, long ballads/X Japan syndrome. I agree that Masashi did a very good job. I think Kuroyume's singles were the most disappointing, with a few of Gackt/Yellow Fried Chickenz works trailing close behind it - particularly "End of the Day." Sorry, but I didn't even like cheesy 4Kids adaptations of anime theme songs even when I was a kid, so Gackt and six other people didn't improve it to say the least. So far, nothing massively horrible ever struck me. I didn't really pay attention to much this year aside from artists I already like.

^ The Yellow Monkey (shaky vocals, their non-soft rock style songs like TVのシンガー and Suck of Life), Tokyo Yankees (glam meets metal), Video Stalin (punk meets glam), Blankey Jet City (shaky vocals, jangly punk sound), and Color (Everything up until Fools Get Lucky, glam and metal and punk). Probably the closest examples I personally know of in Japan . . .

Hm, I suggest you start by trying the videos for their recent releases "Skeleton" and "Gate." Very good songs, in my opinion.

Sunsgrind are kinda like One Ok Rock on steroids, if I had to compare the two. They haven't done anything since 2010, so their discography is pretty small but they're worth a try if you like hard, fast pop punkish music. As for other stuff - definitely recommending Cinema Staff, people in the box, Drum:kan, and the cabs.
