Oh by the way. Have Dir en grey members said anything about GRIEVA?
-
GRIEVA puts me in a tight corner, so to speak. I like most of their songs and I loved the preview to Amai unou, akai sanou, and now that I have already listened to it completely I love it even more, but at the same time it is kind of sad they are copying from Dir en grey this much. Even that song's PV seems a copy of Myaku PV.
I think it won't be a good idea to keep doing this till the end of the band. It could be counter-productive in the end. I mean they should find inspiration in old school bands, but not copy them.
By the way, GRIEVA say they are "the successors of the old good times", but Dir en grey isn't the only band that represented the old good days of Visual Kei. There is a great number of old Visual Kei bands they could get some inspiration too, such as Key Party bands.
Anyone who knows japanese and has read blogs or forum discussions about GRIEVA's music, what do people say about their music?
Sorry about my crappy english. Corrections are very welcome^^

I can't help thinking all these tribute albums that have come out in the recent years aim to give a boost to this new, somehow decadent era of Visual Kei.
Hide's musical legacy is a good idea for this purpose.
I'll be waiting for these albums anyway.

Hi.
Could anybody post the lyrics to this song by LuLu?
It is stuck in my head and I would love to learn the lyrics.
Thanks in advance!

I am still wondering whether that is Taa's actual hair or not xD. It seems to me that it is a wig...
By the way, Taa's voice in this PV (301 byoushitsu) sounds kind of worn out or something...
-
I like the preview. Although it reminds me of Bal Air by Malice Mizer I still like it.
The chorus started somehow weak...
I just hope they realise they can't spend the rest of they life as Grieva ripping off other bands' songs.
I think Aliene Ma'riage is a good source for inspiration when it comes to portray the distinctive sound Visual Kei achieved in the late 90's. I would also suggest Verfe~gorl.
-
They've got two singles, two V.A. songs and a V.A. live DVD appearance so far... I believe they've been around since 2010
I would love to listen to those singles.

Has this band released any material before, by the way?
I thought they were just starting...

Taa has too much hair >.<
He sounds quite like Kamijo in that PV o.O
-
"Fritillaria", loved the word xD
-
Placebo, very creative of them to come up with that band name, very creative...
I listened to the song samples. I kind of liked to third one (frustrate), but the rest are boring you'll-forget-about-them-soon songs.
-
I don't understand people complaining about Kamijo's voice. He doesn't have a typical voice for metal music, but he definitely has a great voice.

Just listened to them again... THE Suicide☆$how Time had a more punkish sound to it with background "woaaaaaaaah" vocals and everything, which is probably why it wasn't included on their full album XD After listening to CHILD PREY, I can definitely say they're stylistically pretty similar in parts, but THE Suicide☆$how Time isn't nearly as heavy. Bondage was more along the lines of their other songs with a darker kote-style sound.
I would like to listen to those songs.

Wow. I see Grieva is not the only band who is bringing old school Visual Kei back to life. I just love Yurikago. I love that drumming and the hypnotic guitar lines.
Their clothes reminded me very much of La'Mule, specially Kon and the location brought Dué le quartz Jisatsu ganbou PV to my mind.
I hope they will be successful.
-
I think they will eventually... I mean if they plan on having any longevity as a band then they'll need to. I've only heard two unreleased songs so far(THE Suicide☆$how Time and Bondage). I've seen THE Suicide☆$how Time compared to CHILD PREY on some Japanese blogs, but I haven't seen any comparisons for Bondage. I'm not familiar with any Dir en grey songs other than Obscure, so it all sounds new to me anyways lol
How about those songs? Do they keep the old school VK sound?
Grieva will definitely have to start producing their own music and stop rehashing old Dir en grey songs if they want to be successful in the long run.
...Unless they start rehashing other old successful 90s band.
....Plz do KEY PARTY bands next lolololol....
Hahaha, I wouldn't mind a new version of Omocha no Miisha, Shiroi tsubasa, Virgin Mary and many other song by KEY PARTY bands.
-
But certainly GRIEVA has a burden to get off them and that is that they have to prove they can make their own music not based on old Dir en grey's songs.
I like GRIEVA by the way.
-
They are nice and productive but seems like they're not getting any popularity in Japan...thats so sad ): hope they still trying hard
Really? I thought it was well received the fact that they brought old school Visual Kei back to life...
Anyway their real challenge will be their next release when they will have to stop mixing Dir en grey's songs and create their own song out of their own inspiration while keeping the old school Visual Kei sound.

If there are other labels then why don't they try to find support from any of them?
-
Kamijo is very happy because his Louis video preview had 10,000 views in 24 hours.
-
Thank you for posting lyrics by Eze:qul. Sora no hamon was one of my favourite obsessions back in 2008. I loved its guitar solo.
Thanks again!

I found out about this band a couple of minutes ago and they have an intertesting sound. I think I like it a lot.
-
Hmm, I don't know what to think...
The background music sounds quite like Versailles and I thought he would do something more different than what Jupiter is doing now. It is too soon to state anything anyway.
-
Wow, I love La Féerie. I didn't know they were very popular among other Key Party bands. They had a very interesting musical style and it is a pity they didn't go further with it by releasing more material.
I wonder if these videos were uploaded by a La Féerie member...
Recommend me some VK ...

How about some old bands like Aliene Ma'riage, Due le quartz, and Verfe~gorl.
Old school Visual Kei was more about insanity and hypnotic melodies, but screams can be found there too.
