I got the impression that you're talking about which female pop star is better. Which isn't really that related to the topic at hand. I'm not saying you can't continue your discussion, I was just suggesting that I create a new special thread for you. The fact that you might listen to those artists if it wasn't for japanese music seems to have little bearing on the discussion that developed later. Because obviously you are listening to them either way. And those posts that actually answer the original question get kinda swallowed up inbetween that discussion, which is really the only reason why I suggested the split. But yeah.

^ Haha, yeah. People should remember that in the end, any form and genre of music can be put up for ridicule. You can ridicule vk fans, oshare fans, metalheads, goths, hipsters, ravers, angura fanboys, emos, rap fans, metalcore fans, people listening to mainstream music, people obsessing over crappy bands because they're rare and unknown, trve and grim black metal fans, or whatever else you can think of. Some of the bands I listen to are grown-up men dressed as vikings. That's virtually calling for ridicule. XD And hey, somtimes it's fun to ridicule, so if you hand it out, you have to be able to receive as well. So if you like the music, you should stand by it and accept the bashing you might get, because in the end, somebody will always bitch, regardless of what you're listening to. No taste in music is beyond reproach. Btw, I like some stuff by My Chemical Romance too.

I think I had this about half a year ago (Virtuamonde, getting redirected from Google etc.) It was the first time I really got a serious virus, but it was really nasty business. I didn't really got rid of it, despite using several antivir and Spyware programmes. Basically, I just bought a new computer. Well, not really. Concidentally I was planning on buying a new one anyway, because the other one was old and slow, so in the end that solved my problem at the same time. I just saved my important data, and retired the old HD, which in all likelyhood still has the virus. But maybe by now antivirus programmes have found a way to get rid of that plague... Have you tried actual antivirus programmes (not Anti-Ad/Spyware-programmes)? If not, try something like Avira of AVG, they're free, but still good. (I used AVG back then, and it didn't really remove all of the virus, so maybe you should try Avira first.) If nothing else helps, I guess you will have to format and reinstall windows.

So the songs well be re-recorded? All of them? Zakuro etc. aren't that old that they would need re-recording... but I assume since they are listed as 'Best Tracks', they are just the normal version? Can't wait to hear a new version of DARLIN' though.

It is interesting to note that I got a lot of non-japanese band recommendations from people on TW, or people I otherwise found via jrock (or via last.fm, which I'm pretty sure I found via some previous jrock forum). My overall taste in music probably wouldn't be so different if I never listened to jrock, but the secondary effects are not to be dismissed.

I like some trip-hop once in a while. Massive Attack, Portishead, Lamb.... I haven't really dabbled deeper into it than that though.

Good to see he's still doing... something. And whoa, lots of songs on his MySpace. I skipped through them, and some of them are pretty cool. Is this some sort of solo stuff? Because it doesn't seem to be from that accoustic unit, due to not being accoustic at all, lol. Anyway, I want some official release of it, now!

Butthurtedness comes in all forms and shapes. The "Waaah, but I'm a real fan of the band, all others are fake fans and they make us look bad"-routine certainly is one of it.Oh, and for the record. I agree.There's a certain ladder of elitism in jrock/vk, which kinda goes like this: Ontop are the Dir en grey fanboys. They go like this: "We're so cool, we listen to japanese music, and the music is so heavy, and Kyo has so expressive lyrics, and we moved beyond vk, YAY! You all suck." Then come the "heavy indies vk fans". Incidentally, they also look down on DeG fans, although half the bands they listen to are carbon-copies of them. They go like this: "OMG, Diru are such sell-outs, they are so american now, they suck, we're cool because we listen to indies music, and the music is so heavy, and they look so cool, YAY! You all suck." Then come the kote-kei fans (which I happen to like myself, but nevertheless....). They go like: "OMG, all new vk sucks, only old vk is good, today everything sounds the same, but ten years ago they were SO original, we're cool because we listen to old music, we already listened to Diru when they were still visual, YAY! You all suck." (In addition to that there's also the species of "angura fanboy", which is basically a mixture of all 3, except with make-up looking like raccoons, and music that basically thrives on sounding as shitty as possible.) BUT, at least they all agree on something: bashing oshare. I guess everybody need something to look down upon. XD
