AYA....she used to rock. I even bought all 3 of her albums a few years ago >_>
  2. BEST NEW ARTIST 2011 Esperanza Spalding!!!! Actually, Esperanza Spalding isn't new at all. She released her 3rd album last year (her first being released in 2006) BUT STILL! GOOD MUSIC WINNING AT THE GRAMMYS!!!!????? WUT!!!??? THE WORLD MUST REALLY BE COMING TO AN END! The woman beat Justin Beiber for christ sakes! And with no music videos, no radio play, minimal TV appearances. This is truly a miracle! ^_________________________________^

It's definitely something that I need to work on. I'm not lazy, but I suck at prioritizing, as I have a tendency to take on too many things at once and subsequently bury myself under the stress of it all. Though sometimes, procrastination can be a good thing. We're not robots. The problem lies in when we choose to procrastinate.

I dunno man...I don't think I was able to get into them. Are there any releases or songs that you think are particularly good? =/

lmao, this shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. Like I said before, there's a reason the entire staff stayed here. R.I.P. tainted world...

cool, I just sent you a friend request. I'm one80 there. If you're interested in recommendations, just let me know. I like VK, but in pretty small doses. Most of the j-rock and pop I'm into is indie/alternative, sometimes experimental.

Welcome! It's great to know that you have diverse tastes! I definitely think you've come to the right place - I can positively say that our forum has one of, if not the most, diverse userbase of any J-rock forum. I'm into a little bit of everything, so I'm always willing to give recommendations! Do you have a last.fm? It may be easier for me to get an idea of your tastes...
  10. ^ good one. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any Japanese D&B acts. Himuro Yoshiteru has some D&B flavored tracks, but his style is pretty abstract overall.

I noticed you were M.I.A in the chat lately. Best of luck! :]

^ lol, I don't know about all that. xD The new song is actually a lot better than I expected! They have a really nice indie-tinged sound...reminds me of early SFP, mecha-nero, and early plingmin! Good stuff...now I REALLY have to try their album....which I've forgotten about. xD

    lol just dig in!! ;]

^ is that Anza? I can't quite tell...

I admit, as much as I love Japanese indie, I've never actually given number girl a proper listen. I've probably just lost any credibility that I might have had with you. >_> Seriously, what would you recommend I start with? xD

Other than Nakano Yoshie, here are a few of my other fav. Japanese female vocalists: ? 中島優美 | Nakashima Yumi (GO!GO!7188 / ??リヌルヲワカ) I've heard a shitload of high-pitched Japanese female vocalists over the years, but there are only 2 high-pitched voices that I'd recognize anywhere. The first being Shiina Ringo and this woman being the other. Not only is her voice one-of-a-kind, but I think she's also a genius when it comes to creating unique and catchy vocal melodies - not to mention the fact that she's a badass guitarist. :] 中山??り | Nakayama Uri I'm a huge Nakayama Uri fanboy. She makes irresistibly charming jazz-pop and has a deep, warming voice that I never tire of hearing. Seriously, even her songs that don't particularly grab me are pleasant to listen to. Plus she makes accordions look cool. ;] 大??加奈 | Otsubo Kana (Spangle call Lilli line / NINI TOUNUMA) Truly one of a kind. She has R&B-esque vocal sensibilities, and somehow makes it work with the indie-pop/post-rock/electronic/experimental/abstract music she creates. And makes it work beautifully! chihiRo (JiLL-Decoy association) She has such a classy, yet soulful voice. Kinda sounds like Mari Mizuno of paris match, but stronger and more animated. Jill-decoy is also one of my favorite Jazz-pop bands in Japan. ;] AZ catalpa (associate social piano | BOWLING NO.9) Spine-chillingly gorgeous vocals! This woman's voice seriously melts my heart. Unfortunately, she'll probably waddle in obscurity forever. She was the vocalist for an obscure jazz band called Associate Social Piano and another obscure reggae band called BOWLING NO.9, but neither band (despite being awesome) was able to make any significant waves. I believe she's currently creating music under a solo project. 扇谷一穂 | Oogiya Kazuho Probably one of the deepest and richest Japanese female voices I've ever heard belongs to the obscure singer-songwriter/musician/artist, Kazuho Oogiya. Lovely ;]

all hail queen jellsio! (_ _) lol, hey there! This is one80. I'm absolutely delighted to see that you signed up! Great to have an old pal here
  18. CAT5

haha, wassup, dude. This is one80 :] I honestly didn't expect you to join up, but since we changed from TW I've been desperately trying to get people from outside of this community to visit. I think a lot of people see all the VK and turn tail =/ I personally don't mind VK, but it's unfortunate, cuz lots of awesome non-VK stuff is shared/discussed here and goes overlooked. Often stuff that not even the people at jphip or JMR are hip to. xD At any rate, welcome! ^^
  19. CAT5

Wassup dude, glad to see you made it here! ^^ Hope you enjoy the forum!

    Gnarls Barkley - Who Cares?
  21. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both the song and video is are so incredibly cheesy, that I can't imagine this being anything other than a farce. :] ...and unlike people here, I WOULD mind if they released some crap like this. I don't know what they're up to, but the song and video were blatant mockeries of all the vapid/down-right embarrassing mainstream Japanese music out there.
  22. CAT5

I just uploaded their new PV. Sounds nice :]
  23. CAT5

They're not selling this? I've tried several times, but just can't really get into their albums. I would, however, be interested in seeing them live since dd11 has raved about how they're such great/fun live act.
  24. CAT5

JABBERLOOP - LowbitFUNK looooooove this track. It's too bad that their last album sucked =(
