We're baaaaack! This time with a band hellbent on world domination, ONE OK ROCK!

It's been 10 years since OOR stepped on the scene and they've been rockin' pretty hard since.

We're pitting 2 fan-favorite albums against each other today so prepare to weigh in!

    感情エフェクト     vs     人生 x 僕=

Which one is your favorite and why?

Kanjou Effect, no question about it.

OOR was a big favorite of mine from their early works until 2011 (Zankyou Reference). I had songs from them mark certain moments of my life and all those generic things. Part of their charm was that, while they never tried to not be a mainstream band, they always kept some sort of rawness and vulnerability that was somewhat endearing. But after 2011, they got super popular and turned to a more polished, less raw stadium-rock sound that just can't compare to the music they released during their prime. I don't blame them for doing it, but no matter how much I try, I can't get excited about their music as I used to. So yeah, that's my vote.

UPDATE: ROOM CAN BE FOUND HERE
UPDATE #2: The usual Sunday session will now be held all day, 24 hours: an open, full session day!

In light of the loss of Plug.dj, people have been talking about alternatives, and many came up with this suggestion. It is very similar to Plug.dj, and perhaps it will grow out to be a fine replacement.

While still a tad wonky and perhaps 'unfinished', the website essentially works in the same way; you create an account, and you can join multiple music-rooms with the intention of streaming music from Youtube or Soundcloud. You can create playlists just the same, and since yesterday (2015.09.28) you have the possibility to create an account that is not linked to your Facebook or Twitter account, and exists solely on Dubtrack. I've done this and my username on there is Lestat. From the looks of it, this means that immediately after the demise of Plug.dj, the creators and developers of Dubtrack have decided to focus on forming a solid community that can replace its predecessors, and mean to seize this opportunity with swift and smooth transitions.

I went ahead and created a new room simply called 'Monochrome Heaven', (««« url!) as we are used to. You can join this room, but there is no moderation apart from its creator (me), yet, as I haven't assigned anyone to these roles yet. If the room continues to grow in size and members, moderators can be assigned, but wouldn't it be nice if we could run this operation without too much of a hassle? Music is meant to open up people's eyes, and in terms of discussion, it should be handled with care and ease — and most of all; it should not be taken too seriously. Of course everyone is anxious to share their opinion, but please be considerate of other members and how heavily your words might influence their view on certain artists or groups. Don't make attempts on changing someone's music taste, this is something they have to discover for themselves. Everyone wishes to enjoy their own chosen musicians, songs, full albums, or whatsoever. It's their choice! No one's taste is fact, no band or artist can be considered anything but what someone's opinion says about them, and this is all personal. So please, share your joy, excitement, sadness, and disappointment, but be aware of your words.

Now that that's out of the way, I highly recommend that we give this a chance. The design is something that isn't too difficult to get used to as it's not extreme or over-the-top, and while we have no dancing avatars (yet?), we can choose our own icon to display next to our names, and personalize our experience this way. Now, to set a few rules in this room like before, mostly copied from @CAT5's list of rules in our previous thread:

Remove yourself from the DJ-queue when you are AFK, or try not to be absent for too long (bathroom breaks are fine). Do not play songs over 7 minutes without asking for permission first. Do not repeat the same songs in one session. (You can play the same band, though!) Do not down-vote songs, please use the upward arrow, or click the 'love'-button to grab songs and add them to your playlist! We are a forum based around Japanese music, so try to adjust your playlists to this. Other music is fine, but remember our passion. Be gentle with each other. While discussions are fine, don't overdo it. Have fun, embrace the music, and deepen the bonds with your friends. Sundays are sometimes theme-days! Suggest your theme in this thread, and it will be taken in consideration. Here is a guide on how to use Dubtrack's current system. At the moment, the developers are working hard on design changes, bug-fixes, extra features, and a more easily accessible frame on how to operate the playlists and queues.

I listen both, like both and saw both live.

But deciding between them is no real question since kamome is on such a higher level in skill, live atmosphere, importance for the scene, interaction with fans.

TBS had some nice songs but already sound too repetitive after just 1 year. And whats a good sound on CD if you cant produce it live (this one counts for too many "harder" VK bands anyway)? Still i enjoy them. But if they disband, what they probably will in 0.5-2 years, nothing will be missed. If we're lucky, Jin just continues in another band with the same image. Still love that Shit Noodle thing

Since most people here chose for look, limited listening acceptence for other genres/ VK CD-sound and the image they think they know when seeing pictures (while the real band member behavior is totally different and laughable) they will probably chose TBS.

Open your mind and visit kamome live if you have the chance, you wont forget the atmosphere/energy. For TBS live, if you dont go you wont miss anything imo.

Voted for kamomekamome tho, cuz while I sort of like some of TBS's songs, kamomekamome's releases have always been totally killer, and they're just a beautiful, aggressive, unpredictable yet catchy hardcore machine that won't stopppp <3

Rating: | They don't party like they used to.

So far, ARTEMA have been doing a good job of retaining their pre-major label electronicore leanings mixed with melodic pop. Their debut album proved they could tone things down without losing their unique sound, and their second showed us they weren't afraid to go even heavier while they mixed it up with the big boys. I had every expectation ARTEMATE PARTY would follow a similar route and continue to build off of ARTEMA's staple "Kiracore" style.

As it turns out, I was wrong about that. ARTEMATE PARTY brings us back, possibly with even more pop arrangements, to their self-titled release territory. This one offers a more mature sound, but it also feels more reserved at the same time. The problem here is that they took away aspects of themselves that stood out from the plethora of radio ready electronic rock that is overrunning the airwaves right now. It has them blending too much into their competition. And as an added side effect, it also made their new songs sound way too much like each other.
"Fighting Dreamer" is an opener that's pretty typical for ARTEMA's major singles. Like the ones before it, it stays in the electronic rock field with a breakdown thrown in for added spice. The breakdown itself isn't all that neck-breaking or original, and it's awkwardly cleaved against the following guitar solo. This also keeps everything fairly tame. But the video is fun, and you do get the general idea of what ARTEMA are about. In the past, a single like this would be the lightest and most straightforward song on the album. That is not the case here. The painfully repetitious "Starting Over" along with blatant Fear, in Loathing in Las Vegas worship in "ROLL OUT" stay fairly mellow as well. I single these songs out because in the context of the album they begin to sound like unnecessary filler. One of the other issues is that they expose the melodic limitations of vocalist, Meg. He's a wonderful screamer, but his singing range is limited, and the more melodic ARTEMA become, the more he relies on extremely similar vocal arrangements. This cluster of tracks are a glaring representation of this. As well as the closing track, "ONE -Let It Die-" which is especially unmemorable, so much that it takes away from the entire album due to its placement.

But don't get me wrong, ARTEMATE PARTY is not all bad, it just takes a little time to get the party officially started. "Trade Off" and "TAKE ME OUT" in succession do have a good energy about them with fun atmosphere. They also set up "FLY HIGH" to come in and finally work a nice blend of what's popular with what ARTEMA know how to do well. The catchy vocal melody is great for singing along, and it works in harmony with the punchy drum beat to get people jumping. This song is perfect to tear up a live house. "INFINITE PARTY" builds right off of that sentiment as it fuses some legit house music into electrocore and results in one of the first "big drop"/hardcore breakdowns I've ever heard out of the Japanese scene. The rest of the track may not be anything new, but the breakdown alone is worth giving it a spin.

Not only did the band push a harder techno vibe with some of the songs, they even tread into nu-metal territory with "Stronger" incorporating a rap-style vocal delivery. The record as a whole has a much more modern pop feel than previous works. ARTEMA are coming to a crossroads and trying to work on expanding their arsenal of genres, but the direction of ARTEMATE PARTY suffers from being a bit lost in the process. Even with all the filler, the band doesn't sound as if they are losing any of their fighting spirit just yet. Though this might have been much stronger as an EP with leftover b-side material, in the end. I worry many old school fans won't have a strong reaction to this album, as they may be holding a candle for their heavier side much like I do. However, a few of the tunes have "grower" potential, so it's definitely an album they should give an honest chance.
