  7. It's grown on me... But they REALLY should hire whoever the hell's responsible for Dezert's PVs to film their MVs or something because their PVs are kind of.... lame?

In the Mouth of Madness: How in the FUCK did it take me this long to finally watch this? I love everything about this movie, holy fuck, i'm a total sucker for that ''fucking with reality'' / Lovecraftian stuff. Seriously wouldn't have minded if this one was like.. an hour or two longer, and I don't say that often. Also, Sutter Cane somehow constantly reminded me of some sort of evil Neil Gaiman looks-wise lmao (i know he's basically supposed to be Bootleg Stephen King tho)

Beat that one for the 2nd time earlier this week as well.. Still sort of feel like the whole inverted castle thing is bullshit, but those graphics... 100% some of the best sprite work EVER Also recently beat the semi-obscure PS1 platformer Pandemonium! yesterday, started playing the sequel now... Basically the game feels like ''DUDE ACID TRIPS LMAO'' the platformer

Child's Play 3: Well, that completes the original Chucky trilogy for me.. I have to admit that I wasn't really feeling this one. Are the other parts after this one worth checking out at all? The creepiest part of the whole movie was the opening sequence, heh.. That kid actor playing Tylor annoyed the SHIT out of me, i was actually hoping he'd end up disappearing at some point during the movie or dying, but alas. At least Chucky himself was still entertaining to watch..
  11. One fucked up thing I heard is that apparently the English translation of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle just cut some stuff from the Japanese original straight out? I dunno if that's true or not, but if it is, that's pretty lame.. Also, it's amazing just how embarrassingly bad Murakami is at writing sex scenes...
  12. Also, after reading Yasutaka Tsutsui's short story collection ''Salmonella Men from Planet Porno,'' I have to wonder... what the hell does the guy have against women? Did he get dumped once too often, or what? I mean, some of the concepts behind the stories are interesting enough, but... sheesh. I'm still wondering whether or not reading the original novel version of Paprika would be worth it or not. I mean, I love Satoshi Kon's adaptation of it... Ah, and I really want to read some of Edogawa Rampo's stuff at some point just to upgrade my angura cred...

''Recent'' Japanese discovery for me: Sketch Show Comfy as hell, glitchy electronics + folk influences blended together, i've always had a weakness for that sort of stuff. Oh, and it's a project by some of the YMO dudes, so you KNOW that shit is good.. Perfect for dark, cold winter nights or when you're walking through the snow. Trust me. Non-japanese discoveries: Firewater Going from an industrial/noise-rock band to some sort of weird blend of alt rock, klezmer, cabaret, gypsy music and a variety of middle eastern-influenced stuff is a pretty weird progression, but somehow vocalist Tod A. just made it work.. Can't stop listening to these guys these days, I dunno why. Just something about their particular blend of genres that tickles me the right way The Black Heart Rebellion Apparently these boys started out as a post-rock/screamo type of band at first, but starting from their 2nd album they began to evolve into something else. On their latest album, ''People when you see the smoke, do not think it is fields they're burning,'' they sound more like Swans gone tribal or something like that. Very cool stuff.

I wish Kyouka would just drop everything he's doing and start making those high-pitched screams and squeals while he's in an elevator full of old ladies
