  1. i saw these today in the morning

and ive got to say that it freaked me out .

its way too hideous , even for dir en grey (funny, now i prefer all gory bloody shit all over me)

but nonetheless, looking forward for the new tracks

ps : tho, the face reminded me mudvayne bassist ryan from early ld50's hah .

pps : and the more i look at it , i get this weird feeling that i cannot rule out the possibility of

that the face actually might be kyo with extreme makeups . but im sure its all in my head . trippy .

  2. It's not like I am very nostalgia-biased anyway.

I am okay with your situation, I just felt like I had to express my disliking towards Kiyoharu's late predictability in terms of songwriting (well come to think of it, Aron and Misery are oddly similar). When it comes to "paying attention to their roots", they have played their post-Fake Star songs basically all the time ever since their reunion...Oh yes, I do acknowledge the fact that Kiyoharu DOES NOT want to play vk-era  songs again (except for "Autism", but it's sort of an oddball in RoS).

Hoping for a good "Grande Finale", if that's going to be their "last album". The content should live up to their whole history as a band and their "many faces" (instead of "hey check this out, we have swag and we are punk as fuck!"-attitude) imho.

To add to my "Feminism" comment - by that I am trying to say that their earlier albums had VARYING SONGWRITING (see: Fake Star and Feminism for instance). Consider that to be my "personal keyword" in terms of listening tendencies.

i agree with your points to be honest, deep down in my throat tho :)

it's just that im just happy to see an old man trying so hard (he's 43 or 44 or smething now)

to be a modern hipster and bringing some contemporariness

cause hey, im getting old as well, maybe it's like a vicarious satisfaction out of him ? -

and yes, hah , misery and aron did sound like siblings (and actually kiyoharu tend to use the same riff styles and structures)

, i caught that from the beginning, but still feeling lots of love towards them :)

I JUST CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SINGLE . GET IT OUT . AT LEAST A PV .

  3. So I haven't really heard of "Guernika" being a trailer song or anything...

Other than that, to knock on Platanity's comment - I must say the key problem of modern Kuroyume is Kiyoharu himself. Yes, you heard it - I think he is really burdening the creativity of their cooperation with his own, solo-type of songs, which don't really belong to the repertoire of Kuroyume imho (you could also ask long-time Kuroyume listeners about that too).

I really gave up on waiting for "new Feminism" song/album-wise, so yeah, not really excited in this.

see this is the part why i said "i honestly i could give no f about what ppl say" ^^^^^^

and the thing is no need to ask long-time kuroyume listeners cause i have been listening to kuroyume since they've released corkscrew (and i started listening to japanese rock since 1998) and i did go back till the earlier times (feminism, nakigara) , trust me, i used to love their kiyoharu's 'explosion hair do' when i was listening to kiyoharu in middle school

but i just need to say this, i just got REALLY tired of old japanese rock style (by then i opened my eyes to different genre of rock when deftones' around the fur/adrenaline, tool's aenima, and korn's life is peachy caught my attention) and i admit i was the only one whomwas finally glad when dir en grey put away their weird costumes when they started "kisou" era .

time to time, i do miss kuroyume's old school materials, but ive got to "honestly" say that my taste of music matured (or maybe 'simplified' to your sake assuming you have totally different taste from mine) along with modern kuroyume/kiyoharu and other mainstream bands out there (dir en grey, mucc, merry, etc) .

but i cant deny the fact that im TOTALLY BIASED regarding kiyoharu/kuroyume/sads' modern materials so ^^^

no need to judge my integrity heh

    anyhow,

we still got updated after effect so im assuming they ARE paying attention to their roots

  4. Beside that I still find it funny how they called it a World Tour when they only went to Europe, shit they haven't even been to Korea yet.

this is so true , korea's just a couple of miles away from their country .

but i kind of get it's nothing special that there are only a 'couple' j-rock bands that visited korea

in the past decade (dir en grey, kuroyume, l'arc en ciel, and some random indie/vk bands that i hardly remember...)

im starting to feel that since dir en grey released their 'documentary' dvd ... now every bands' going to make one just like it .

(altho few exceptions to mucc, vamps, and few others, cause they did go for world tour)

  5. type a cover is dumb, other two look reasonably cool

actually i LOVE the type a album jacket, stylish and clean .

the other 2 looks too plain and they almost look like gazette's shiver remember the urge style .

and i just want to say that merry has always been 'punk' since the beginning. it's just the 'sound' doesnt sound like conventional american type

of power chord shredding punk sound .

  6. i dont know why , but this time , this album is way too chaotic and out of consistency in my opinion-

maybe if they've had arranged the tracks in the different order, it could've been less disruptive .

ive had felt few times of impressions of "marilyn manson's background sfx" influence (track 2, 4, and cant remember)

but then again, ive always thought they had something with manson's style of using samples (leech, filth in the beauty, etc) .

and ive had (heavy) good expectations on the preview track (which turned out to be "to dazzling darkness") ,

but it came out something really different than what ive imagined (ive expected something cinematic like "dim scene")

but REALLY good catchy intro (ive almost wanted to copy and use it as as homage for my own composition) .

but all in all, i could see that they 'tried' to compose tracks as a whole congruent album instead of compilation of

'single' type tracks (ie; toxic), but this album's way too narrow and chaotic for me to 'like' it . i couldnt remember

any of the tracks (except the picked tracks below) from the album, even ive heard 10, 20 times .

still , again, contrary to popular votes, 'toxic' is still the best album in the recent works ('dim' being the superb amongst post-nil era) .

    best track picks :

    2. inside beast (i dig the female vocal sampling, very nice one this time)

    6. redo (a+)

    13. to dazzling darkness (very nice intro)

    14. coda (love the acoustics)

    overall : 2.5/5

  7. how on earth do you manage to like it

i liked it too cause i managed to like it (no pun intended)

actually id like it to be re-recorded as well .

i never found 'best album' compilations that attractive unless there were extra or re-recorded tracks ,

even so if it's remastered...still not really tempted cause we can all still go back and find early works if you

wanted to listen in the first place .

besides, contrary to popular votes ,

i dig present tense 12012 than early stages .

they were much more creative, yes, but i still rather listen to current voice

cause past is the past, that shrieking voice of early 12012 is too 'vk' , and cant erase that image

of bands with dresses and not-subtlely-executed-exploded hair styles .

  8. regardless to the qualities of the sample ... which are almost irrelevant at this point...

altho i need to hear the whole thing but as for the samples,

i felt like this is a "division part ii" -

but i do hope to hear the whole song of the official preview that theyve released long ago

ps : and ive noticed (unless there's like a twist afterall) every tracks except the first one ARE actually

song not se's. 13 songs are actually a good deal for the ones who bought the product

  9. Nu metal is not metal.

    Djent is not metal.

    Post-hardcore is not metal.

And Girgugamesh at the moment seems to be combining elements of all three. An abundance of syncopated, downtuned breakdown-style riffs and a bit of screaming does not make something metal and this is coming from someone who likes Korn.

actually nu metal and post hardcore is still a metal . but different .

i do like to argue that both sub-genre has became like a 'hype' in late 90's till early 2000's but ... its still in the 'metal' hierarchy .

and there is nothing wrong with korn heh , it's just that i miss their 'korn' and 'life is peachy' era .

    but getting back girugamesh ,

i do like where they are going, and i actually like the effect (i remember someone described as "fart sound effect")

but i did twitch my eye when i heard it second time in 'drain' .

altho, i used to love them to hell when they were at 'girugamesh' album era, and then mostly when they

released 'alive', 'border', 'crying rain', and 'now', , but i moved on to different styles afterwards .

  10. thanx for both of you guys :) i guess ill just leave it as it is,

just a little worried that hopefully the price wont change or something

so i dont have to deal with this -

anyhow, new info came up regarding 2 singles -

good to see that they have finally decided to self-cover their old works -

now there goes my money (cause ive wanted to try buy the real deal this time instead of waiting for rips)

NEW SINGLE『I HATE YOUR POPSTAR LIFE』
    12月11日(水) 2タイトル同時発売が決定致しました。

    ... sonovabitch.

    just right now ,

KUROYUME announced that the 'supposed-to-come-out' album on 6th of November

has been pushed to 29th of January, 2014 due to i dont know issues (i suspected this might happen cause kiyoharu

constantly posted photos and videos of recording/studio on his tumblr...which is strange cause they shouldve done recording long ago).

consequently, they are now able to release singles prior to the album release ...

which are 2 singles sold simultaneously on 11th of December .

dont know if this is good or not , cause ive already bought the pre-order long time ago

as soon as it surfaced in cdjapan - _-. ah.

now that a question came up in my mind,

does anybody experienced something like this before ?

like purchasing preorder thru cdjapan but release date pushed out ?

would they just keep my $$$ until then ? or do they refund me or something ?

please do tell me if anybody's kind enough to let me know : )

  12. not to raise offensive impression ,

if i were to tour abroad, id go 'safe' as well -

on top of that, if people are expecting more of a 'regular' visits,

then expecting a gig like a christmas or end-of-the-world-goodbye-this-is-our-last setlist

    wouldnt be something feasible .

and besides, even tho im not a domestic fan or listener in/from japan,

id still encourage them to 'take care' their domestic fans FIRST,

then, the otherwise . ive seen many many cases when some celebrity or musicians become

careless toward their root and where they came out of -

besides, gazette IS going abroad pretty 'late' than other bands (dir en grey, mucc, etc)

despite the international interests toward them .

i think it's a decent and solid setlist . current gazette's strategy would be 'promote' first ,

cause after all, not all rock fans know wth is gazette or some weird asians with makeups ,

it took time for dir en grey (dir en grey we're talking about)

to establish some acknowledgement amongst international rock-fests .

maybe sometime later would be more of a festive tour from gazette.

  14. i almost 'always' avoid putting comments on something that i love with undivided attention

but i just have to, i cant help it but to put my own review on this single ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    5555/5 ENUF SAID .

    but to be serious -

    1. KINGDOM : contrary to the votes from the thread from news section , i have already fallen in love with this

single as soon as that little clip from japanese tv show came up in youtube . but have i finally got to listen to

the whole single ... it's just 'majestic', i think this word fits most accurately to this single . all those little details

from the intro where clean tone has its own little reverb/tremolo delay and how the distortion opening riff starts

(low to high volume) , the abstract solo and finally kiyoharu's voice tone fitted perfectly in the chorus melody .

honestly, when i listened to this first time, i was a little disoriented with the feeling that each phrase (or segment)

felt like it was composed separately and THEN compiled it together; by means, each phrases did not have that

smooth link between each phrases but after 2, 3 times of listening to it i finally got used to it !

    2. BLAND NEW LOVELESS : this track was something that i havent expected at all in the first place. i initially thought it would be something 'lighter' or 'weaker' filler b-side but the real thing was surprisingly abstract and has its own style. since it was composed by hitoki, obviously it has a great bass line, and that catchy solo by kaz. mentioning kaz, the thing ive noticed since that little clip that was leaked long time ago, the distortion texture is almost identical to kiyoharu's solo album 'under the sun'; i obviously expected more of a nu-metal/metal style texture like the one from 'headache dub reel inch' (i assumed kaz had at least a minimal influence to that). but high props to kuroyume for setting up a song less-contemporary as balancing KINGDOM track that happened to be like one !

but whatevs, i just love this single - i can now happily rest in peace until november when the whole thing comes out!
