    Hi there.

I've been lurking on this site for years probably. I drop by any time one of my favorite bands has a new release, and I just finally decided to make an account.
I hope that by coming by here I can learn about some bands I've never heard of, and meet some people who like the same kinds of bands I do.

I'm a big fan of the darker, moodier stuff. Mostly any band where Ryo has done vocals or Aie has played the guitar, I'm hooked.
Some of my favorites have been Buck-Tick, Dir En Grey, 9Goats Black Out, Deadman, Sukekiyo, Sugar/Konig/MORE, KEEL, MUCC, The GazettE and more.

I started listening to Jrock in general when my girlfriend introduced me a few years ago. Now it's about 70% of all I listen to.
If you've got any suggestions on bands you think I'd like, please let me know.

It's nice to meet you all!  はじめまして!

These artists that you listen to have great music, i also agree with you and @monkeybanana4 about the VK Niche, It's truly impossible to other fans from the country i'm from mostly, except in anime conventions though.

    Enjoy!

    Hi,

Back from an extremely long hiatus on an old email account - I'm not sure I used it much, more of a lurker!

UK based fan of X-Japan, Matenrou Opera, Kamijo, MUCC, GYZE, Sadie, Merry, DADAROMA, Defspiral, D, Malice Mizer, Esprit d'Air, Rides in Revellion, Buck Tick, Luna Sea, Versailles, etc etc!  Very keen for new recs for excellent vocalists and symphonic metal vibes.

Just saw Kamijo last week, and feeling a large empty gig-gap in my life (OK, Dir en grey next month but I haven't seen them since their 2007 first big UK tour..) Anyone seen/seeing Kamijo on this current tour?

Any Matenrou Opera fans out there keen to travel over for gigs? I have no pals that are that interested in them, but they've been my lifeblood for some time and kept me going. Still not quite over last year's cancellation. Also really interested in going to gigs like the wishing well fest, I have not been to Japan since 2005.

Looking forward to chatting to peeps again. Thanks ^^

I discovered this site just the day before yesterday and decided that I absolutely have to join.

I came across visual kei 5~6 years ago (thanks to youtube) and have been obsessed since then.
At first, I was really into smaller and newer bands, like Mejibray. Then I started listening to Malice Mizer, who are still one of my big loves to this day. I also really enjoyed (still do) bands with a similar style, for example Versailles, Lareine, Moi dix Mois, D and I occasionally listen to Dir en Grey and L'arc en Ciel. X Japan have been one of my favourites for a long time as well. I also really like a couple of indies old school/kote kei songs.
Nearly 4 years ago I got into Buck-Tick and they've been my favourite band ever since.

I'm already looking forward to being on here and finding more great music (and people to chat/discuss with)!

Hi! I look around this place a lot but I finally decided to join today. I'm a fan of many many many bands, from D.I.D. Until The Day I Die, Vexent, Kizu, The Micro Head 4Ns, Fatima, Versaillies, mainly Kamijo, D, The Black Swan, Mucc, DimLim, Dir en Grey, Sadie, Merry Bad End, Devize, every band on starwave records, G.L.A.M.S, Buck-Tick, Megaromania, Caligari, Avelcain, Avanchick, and more to X Japan, Malice Mizer, Baiser, etc listing them all would be a wall of text so I'll list some of the subgenres next, Ero-Guro Kei, Nagoya Kei, Harajuku Kei, and Kotekote kei. I adore Kaya, hide and a lot more. Nice to meet you guys! As you can see I'm a huge VK Jrock fan~!

    Hello!

I've been a fan of Visual Kei for more than 10 years now. My love for Visual Kei really started with Alice Nine. They were my favorite band for the majority of my teen years, I even had a Twitter account simply dedicated to them (@AliceNineWorld for anyone that might remember!). I would  also try to discover new bands daily, listen to VK 24/7 and just emerge myself in anything Visual Kei. However back in 2014, my interest for it just slowly started to fade and left the scene all together.  I just felt Iike major bands were experimenting with sounds I did not enjoy and newer bands all sounded the same to me. You could say VK died for me that year. But occasionally, I would go back and check up on bands that I still had some interest in, such as Dir en Grey, Diaura, BUCK-TICK, and sometimes A9.

Fortunately, this summer my love for Visual Kei resurged once again. Coming back into it and trying to catch up with everything I missed in the past four years has been overwhelming haha. The amount of older bands that have disbanded has come as a complete shock, but the newer bands that are starting out have seriously brought in new life to Visual Kei that I personally think really needed. In my opinion, I think we might be reaching a renaissance of Visual Kei, and that absolutely excites me!

All in all, I joined this forum because I wanted to be part of a community in which I could keep up with news and talk with other fellow fans. Visual Kei has always been a huge part of my life growing up, so coming back into it almost feels like coming back home.

    Thanks!

And awesome! Those two were the first ever bands I listened to in VK. Well, LM.C first technically lol never would have found out about them if they didn't play their music at the anime Red Garden ~

And yeah, I was sad af when they disbanded. I literally cried lol But, right now I'm happy that Byo and Jin are still together in a band, I think they can make good music together ouo and their music is coming back to the heavier side so, I have high hopes that it's going to be great! And yup, let's continue!

Yeah yeah, I've been exploring the forum for a while now, hoping to find new bands that'll become my favourites as well ❤️

Lol, hi everyone! I needed a title that was witty but also incorporated my love for KHRYST+ and me being new... As you can all see, that doesn't look witty and eye catching at all lol working on that

But anyways! I've slowly been coming back to the VK fandom ouo was wayward a couple of years ago and went back to listening to some american rock (even ventured out into the kpop genre lol) but, home is home and Visual Kei is still my favourite genre... Well, that and they look too aesthetically pleasing to just leave behind so yeah ouo

For the old bands, I like LM.C (their older songs at least), ScReW, and UNSRAW~

But, now am a fan of KHRYST+ and I heard from here that Yuuki's new band is Kallistie?? So, guess imma be a fan of that now too ouo

(tbh, I only found out about this forum thanks to me searching if Yuuki has a new band and stuff lol)

Nice to meet you all! Hope we can all be friends! And share music togetherrrr, because seriously I am so outdated with the new bands lol ifanyoneisintofanfictionandshippingandshitplsbefriendswithmethanks

I'm Jamie. I'm an engineer from South Carolina. Ive been into VK and most J-music since....sometime in the late 90's.  Im not sure when it was but someone posted a link to the ESP Japan site and I saw all the glorious and batshit guitars there and had to hear the music these people made. The first band  I listened to was Malice Mizer. This was before youtube so I had to get on soulseek and download everything I could find. Before long I was watching Gackt descend from the ceiling of a cathedral in angel wings and 7" press on nails and I havent looked back since.

I suppose what I like most about VK, as a man, is how it approaches a male perspective in vastly contrasting and opposing ways from alot of western music. VK presents an intimacy that you just dont get from male performers in the west, especially in heavier settings. VK artists can be distressed or vulnerable or sexual in a way that's not the standard western "old man and the sea" style of abstraction. I guess its that, alot of times, they approach sexuality or sentimentality in a direct and open way that, as a man, just does'nt exist in my world.

Im a pretty sentimental person and, especially being a man in the south, that has its own problems. VK is kindof a wonderland for me in that sense. Im sure thats why it appeals to a mostly female fanbase, though from experience women dont seem all that thrilled with having men like that in their life directly.

I joined because I find that, when you bring up VK on most forums or in most music discussion settings, it generally invites disaster. Alot of people that are "serious" about music, if they've ever heard about it at all, discredit it as being silly or as an extension of otaku culture. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I completely see the otaku argument. I think there is a larger portion of the fanbase that would'nt be into it if they were'nt into anime or videogames. Im not saying that makes them any less of a fan at all, but I'm never sure if they really like it for the music or mostly because its "HOT AZN BOIZ". I also get that being attractive and being fashion forward gives alot of westerners the impression that the scene is a gimmick. I guess I understand that and I definitely think there are some bands that are far less serious about their musical output than others.

Anyway I'll stop rambling. I'm happy to be here and thank you so much for having me. I hope I make some friends and learn alot of new things!

Hello to this heaven, I came back from hell, probably the second time 😉

yeah.. I took myself away from all online social media platforms three years ago I would say.
but yes! Girugamesh is what brought me back, listening to their old school tunes got me thinking of Jrock again!

I think I said this in my previous, "I'm Back!" post. I really don't keep up with any news of Jrock of today. I guess for Dir en Grey I do know, but that was pretty much unavoidable for me. Still listen to their music time to time. but yes for the most part, clueless.

What I still listen to are, Dir en Grey, Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, emmuree, The God and Death Stars and Girugamesh.

I REALLY love weird fuckin music, so I'll be looking for that. Recommend, mention, comment and hopefully it'll be in my path to see. I listen to all worlds of music.

Does anyone remember me? No? its okay. You're probably not here either.
    again! Hello to everyone!

Hey all. How's it going? I guess I should introduce myself now, huh?

I originally got into Visual Kei back in....2009, I believe? It may have been slightly before or after. Anyway, I would spend countless hours everyday doing things revolving around VK. (as I'm sure all of you do/did) that continued until about 2013 or so and then I kind of fell off. I would still come back every so often and see which of my favorite bands decided to disband or check out who was new, but I never jumped completely back in. That is until the last month. Not sure what called me back, but something did! The first thing I noticed was "Boy oh boy do I have a lot of catching up to do." While it's been a crazy ride so far, it's been fun as hell!

I decided to come back to Monochrome Heaven just to help me sort everything out. Oh, that reminds me. Forgot to mention, I used to have an account on here many moons ago. I have absolutely no idea what any of my info was anymore, so I just decided to make a new one! I'm going to finish this off by saying it's nice to meet you all and I'm glad to be back in the community!

Well, i did used to listen to some of the bands from the 2000's and a bit of the 90's often back when it was my first listening to visual kei especially metal, and a year later i started listening to modern Vkei bands a bit, around in my high school days from 5 years ago on my graduating year that time, then another year later and so then, i kept listening to more modern Vkei bands up to now, which is more appeal to me up to now but, i still have respect for the first Vkei bands i've listened to from the 2000's, even if i listen to more on modern ones.
