    wtf i love your music taste now

    Thank you, this is sweet. (Love your taste too.) Guess I just get irrationally defensive when talking about the things I feel the strongest about, and my favorite music is very high up there, self-deprecation is an automatic defense. Which is super silly, because unthinkingly I end up insulting what I love the most.

    The fact that you have Current 93, Coil, Merry and BTS on your list shows you have wide taste in music

    Thank you.

    Spoiler

    Funny thing is, now that I think about it, 8 of these seem very different, but can be connected to each other six-degrees-of-music-separation style without even having to bring up anything but the members' side projects. [MERRY covered B-T;  Sakurai (B-T) covered Bowie; Imai (B-T) got to collab with Coil when he was doing SCHAFT ; Coil, Marc Almond (Soft Cell) and Current 93 have all worked with each other; and finally, Jack of the Puritans appeared on Current's last full-length, completing the graph.] And then there's BTS xD

  3. If and only if "another country" includes Japan, we're set. But yeah, back when this was a thing I was seriously planning traveling 2 x 25+ hours by bus to see them (because I didn't have the money for a flight). Guess nah xD

  4. @midi:nette Oh, I have the Halloween live, it was every bit as gorgeous as I expected, by the way happy Yuu/Zaku is life, and alter-ego-Nero (not up for remembering that name) 's outfit falling apart, and yesss Mamurasaki's first appearace was too precious for words, and then there was Gara's immense fondness for swirling his cape xD I meant the music video, I don't have that one.

    @TokageKyokutou Girl Friend. WHAT.

  5. Hey, welcome! Our trajectories to here seem very similar, rediscovering B-T, spiraling from there into the world of j-rock and finally finding ourselves here a few years later. Great artists in that list too! Let's discover new bands together ^^

  6. Whoa, sorry to resurrect such an old topic, but I was looking DALLE up and... is that These New Puritans they were covering? Elvis and C16th± are their songs. Like, I still have my mouth hanging open, the Puritans are my favorite non-Japanese band, so proud of my boys having fanboys in vk-world, and also being up there with all the other legends in that setlist. Proud of DALLE too I guess, for having such great taste xD

    Gara x Mamurasaki (Super Merries) footage will be included in the type A DVD

    Omg, this is just getting better! I'm saying this with no exaggeration, I've never fangirled harder than when I saw this Gara/Mamurasaki/Midori. Not sure what this says about me, but way to push all the right buttons. Let's hope Super Merries stay around. Thank you for volunteering to report on the video too!

  8. Lol this band will be the death of me. Look at this fine specimen of 2d trash, either MERRY are making it very clear that you need to buy that DVD, no freebies, or I'm deadly mistaken. The zombie is the best.

    And it's unlisted already, like the last pamphlet trailer. If you're gonna do this just stick to it lol. Or did you know we'll share anyway?
    Edit: It's public now ^^

    None of  the concert was actually streamed, unfortunately :( The whole nico stream was just of some random room in the back of the venue that the bandomen would pop into every now and again.

    Ooh, thank you for restoring my peace. Not that I wouldn't watch the hell of that either, but I can also survive without it ^^

  10. Just did the math for LIPHLICH, ~93 unique songs (not counting remakes, acoustic versions etc, which they release by the dozen) for 7 years, or 13.2 per year. That's considering they didn't release anything in 2011 though, if we only count new songs since 2012, when their tempo picked up, it's ~81 songs for 5 years, or 16.2 per year.

    B-T have ~259 songs for 30 years, not counting SEs and covers, or 8.6 songs per year, which is consistent with their steady tempo of releasing an album every 2 years. The fangirl's got to note that MERRY, who've been frustratingly unproductive these years, still score like 9.2 songs per year. MUCC should do better, but someone else should do the math for them.

  11. I don't know why I found it only now, but if there are others with their head in the clouds like me, holy hell look at stackexchange's list of resources for learning Japanese! Could have saved me so much time.

    I'm just beginning to study Japanese properly, but recently I've been spending some time translating songs, looking up the words and grammar on the go. Some bits of knowledge do end up sticking - maybe not as effective as dedicated learning, but certainly better than doing nothing at all.

    Edit: Almost forgot! Kenneth G. Henshall's A Guide to Remembering Japanese Characters is wonderful for people like me who find remembering so much easier when there is some meaning or story attached to the characters, yet are annoyed with the randomness of Heisig's Remembering the Kanji and similar resources. Henshall takes more of a historical approach, looking at the etymology of kanji. [There's a new supposedly updated version going by The Complete Guide to Japanese Kanji, but I don't know how that compares.]

    Ikr?? It's weird how they recently stopped with the B-side songs all of a sudden.....;w;

    I know... On the one hand, their last albums got some criticism for half of them appearing on singles first, so if they are saving their song ideas and an album appears soon, it will be fine. If they simply can't come up with anything though, that spells trouble.
