You say it should be more lika a hobby and then you say they are talentless hacks.
Well, you can't be real proffesional when it's your hobby, especially when you have full time job and the hobby takes a lil bit of free time.
 
I also absolutely hate when people say "art is for free" nonsence. Why the hell should it be for free? It's a work, no matter what is it, hobby or full time job. And if it not distributed free, it's not free just because it is music.
Why there's so much difference for people in material and digital things? I can't steal a car, because I'll go to jail, but I can steal music, movies and books because they are digital? And both car and music were made by someone, i.e. somebody put their time, resources and effort.
 
I understand that it's impossible to buy everything. But there are so much people here who didn't buy a single release. I don't think they really care about any artists.

Not in Japan. Or if you wanna musicians die from exaustion then yes. Or have 1 live show and 1 release (maybe) half a year.

Okay let's make a simple example:
You're a baker. Someone has decided your cakes should be free, food should be free. So they come to your bakery and take them without paying.
While others cry out loud: I can't buy before I'll taste it. You give them samples, but they wanna eat the whole cake before buying it. So a lot of them eat and don't buy at all.
Will you like it? Will such business be profitable? Is it fair to you?
 
In case someone didn't understand it's the current argument that all leechers use. Especially one: I need to listen to the whole album before buying. Come with same request to real bakery and see the reaction.
 
Well, following bakery continuity, there are sometimes free cookies giveaways, but that doesn't mean all bakeries give away cakes for free.
Same with the music, yeah some share for free, but what about biggest and the poppies world artist?
 
There are services that allow to listen to music for free, also youtube.
Other than that, especially specefic scenes with small fanbase shouldn't be free, especially when you wanna to see this scene alive in the future.

tbh all the dramas going on at this moment, are exactly why I stopped sharing music years ago, all those "music should be free" and the fact that they are just waiting for you to share and leech the shit out of it is killing me. Not sharing anymore was the best choice I've made on this forum, got tired of people "thanking you" you for your uploads and stabbing you when you're not here

I would also have to disagree with you, I buy a lot of cds and I do understand some people do not have the $ and thats okay but when you use that as an excuse to justify only downloading thats not okay. I use to avidly share on here but when i see posts like this i feel used because people only care about the downloads. Bands work hard for their music. They want to do what they do for a living and if everyone downloads most likely we can expect a disband. Especially vk... vk doesnt have a big audience(compared to other styles) so these bands need all the help they can get. My stance on this is... do what you can for the band, ull b surprised to know that colecting cds is pretty fun. More sales = more promotion = more tours = world tours. You think gazette got a world tour because everyone illegally downloaded? Bands need sales otherwise theres no funds to support any kind of tour or even feed themselves.

I am sorry, I usually prefer to stay out of issues like this, but its a shame to see so many people still think this way.

Illegal downloading of music is incredibly harmful to bands and the industry as a whole.
if i could only show to people not only the effort, but also the cost that goes into making a single let along a album, it would be shocking to some.
I know one musician who ate only curry and ramen for over a month because every cent of money he made from his normal job was spent of making a cd to release.
I know another musician who under similar circumstances lost 8kgs from  not eating correctly.

bands disband, loose pushes from their labels, all of those kind of bands things that people get upset about because they don't sell well.

many bands are starting to become more accessible now, selling on online webshops and in some cases putting their music on itunes or other similar legal download sites.
 
please support bands, if you like their music, buy it!
show them that you appreciate the effort and sacrifices they made to make that music you like.

and as for bands "getting world tours etc because of illegal downloading" 
there are other ways, instead of uploading/downloading a entire song, just put a 40 second sample online for people to listen to.
you can promote a band you like without taking away one of their earning revenues.

i have exactly zero interest in what others decide to do (or not do) with their money, but just try going out there and declaring that with a straight face. that's akin to reassuring yourself that Trump is the best thing that will ever happen to the rights of marginalized people because all the reprehensible things he has said/done/will do indirectly promote solidarity among said groups.

It doesnt matter how bands market music no one is saying to buy each release, but people dont buy anything period and they just free load of the forum thats the problem.  The diehard fans will buy each release but they want to. They are happy to do so and no one forces them. No matter how you look at it bands do need income, this is visual kei the bands spend ridiculous amounts of money just on makeup a lone. Now add the outfits and everything else... greedy or not they need momey in order to even perform their hobby.

Regardless a lot of these bands want to make it big, you can't blame them. Music is art but if they could make a living out of it more music for us. Yes its a hobby but it comes with the opportunity to be more than just that so why not take the chance. As they grow they can become pro and produce better music but they have to start somewhere. 
 
No one said you had to buy all 10 editions. And yea its a greddy move to sell 10+ ver but thats not really a bands choice those are bigger bands with labels. The label choses how to market the music not the band. 
 
What gets me really upset with your comment is some of us do pay for this music and its not fair to us cuz people just expect us to share and thats all they come on MH for. 

Its not a right. it is in fact a privilege that people on here share what they buy... You can listen to the mv or samples for free but bands do need income.
 
Its like me hiring you and not paying you. Real workers just work and don't need pay.
