The Mellotron is an electro-mechanical, polyphonic keyboard. Opeth loves using this instrument. They even put out an alternate version of their single "Porcelain Heart" that is performed on mellotron and mini-Moog synthesizers and called it "Mellotron Heart".

So, I'm not as tired as yesterday so I thought I'd give this a try. Things I've got a really weak spot for is among other things:

Repetive depressive music such as Mortualia and Jammerskrik. I'm not a emo or a really depressive person or anything, but I really love depressive music and especially bands that's really repetive and just put you in some kind of a trance.

Dream-like music that has the ability to just send me to aother word. Prime examples of this would be Summoning - Oath Bound and Alcest, Aurora and a lot of Blissrock/Dreamgaze

Dream-like vocals such as Neige of Alcest, the one from Aurora or that can be found on a lot of Blissrock/Dreamgaze albums.

Chaotic Noise Rock such as Melt-Banana.

Chaotic, low-fi Hardcore and Crust with a lot of noise in the sound.

Neo-Crust. This I ahve a really weak spot for. Ekkaika, Tragedy, From Ashes Rise etc. I just love this sound.

Cowbells. That's right, you read cowbells. I think more bands shuch use cowbells, especially harder bands. Vreid (Black Metal) and Down (Southern Metal) are both bands that has used it.

Koto and other trad. instruments from all around the world.

Real, acoustic drum sound WITHOUT triggers, plastic sound and such.

I am a really fan of productions that doesn't sound too clean and computerized. Too many bands have crystal clean productions that take away all the feeling I can find in the music. But I like when it's not too "perfect".

- Electronic fused with rock (in the avengers in sci-fi, mow mow, A9-rainbows kind of way, not as much in the crabcore, or industrial kind of ways)

-Lush sounds/ high-atmosphere/ anything that really envelopes you...typically in instrumental music

-I tend to like melancholic stuff or stuff that borders the line between happiness and sadness/anger in tone and feeling, not too much into the extremes except occasionally.

- A good catchy melody, something that I can sing along to for days to come and annoy the family with

- Most things that fall under the Prog category

- Controlled chaos
