well, not in the club of course.

A host and hostess can always take up offer to be rented for a night by their guest during their talks and drinks if they wish. It will be their extra income since their main one (after cut from mamasan fees) are from "forcing" their guest to get more and more drinks. The cheapest pay is a cola, while liquor will be values more. Hence many host and hostess would offer their guests at least some beer if not higher one (whiskey, brandy, champagne, etc) so they will get higher paid.

It's common practice not just for host club in Japan.

So i suspect, he also accepting private host as well, either for private party or as an escort to accompany businessmen/busineswomen and tourists for a day or two or more.

Pretty much like prostitution really, only much more discreet at practice since unlike prostitution, it's not always ended with sex but can also purely for a friend to talk with and to cuddle.
