what is the most SCARY horror movie you've seen?

Ok, guys

I seriously need your help here, I'll explain:

Me and some very good friends are planning an awesome horror movie marathon, and my pals are... how to put it? like a lot more normal than me? that means they started to talk about THE RING or SAW, and those movies aren't that scary for me anymore.

So, the thing is everyone of us has to arrive with the most awesome horror movie you've seen.

Ok, I want to show them something amazingly scary like omgican'tsleepanymore/idon'tfeelpeaceinmylife (ok, that's too much but you get the idea).

One of the first ones that came to my mind was SHUTTER but I believe there's a lot more scary ones out there.

Please guys, some help, suggestions, recommendations?

i'll started it with some classics to the newer one

1. iono if you have watched

(U.S.A.) yet? Yes, that classic horror.

If you haven't, you gotta try it, it got some neat quality ahead of it's time.

i will not be surprised if one will develop fear with birds after watching this.

Involving dark sect, and Javanese chants that will summon the demon that sounded truly eerie.

The Hollywood one sucks, as usual.

Try to watch the original version instead.

The horror is classic,

The movie is a horror film set primarily in 1942, while South Korea was under the colonial rule of Japan.

It is framed by scenes set in 1979.

And got a very mature finishing, try this

All i say is this, the director were premiering this movie

in front of many countries ambassador and each of them

one by one withdrawn themselves from the premiering theater

because they can't take all the suspense going on in it.

There is several who also ask for vomit bag.

It’s very difficult to figure out where this movie is headed, and that unpredictability is one of the many positives here.

The premise proves absorbing early on and doesn’t let go until the very end.

The overall quality is professional, with a well-written script, good camerawork, and a powerhouse performance by the lead actor.

One of the better Indonesian Horror I've ever watch.

A good horror to close this list.

You just have to check it out,

the movie were released when the Asian Horror remakes

were at it's peak in Hollywood.

So it is very refreshing to watch an original horror movie

that didn't suck.

These are the only horror movies that 'stayed with me' (if you know what I mean) even days after watching them:

- The Ring (American remake)

- Ju-On: The Grudge (Japanese original)

- Martyrs (I still can't bring myself to watch this again, even though I want to xD)

...but basically, for me, Martyrs is that top 'one movie' that's like...OMG.

I'm forever grateful for that, you helped me a lot! from that list I've already watched The Exorcist, The hills have eyes, A tale of two sisters and the eye (never wanted to watch the american ver. actually since almost all the remakes of asian movies are utterly bad). I have Ruma Dara in my laptop since like ages but I still don't watch it The Forbidden Door got my attention big time, thanks pal

@Jigsaw9: already watched those except for Martyrs... I heard about it in a party I went too, the dude was like "no words" about it but I didn't take it seriously (maybe because the alcohol? lol) thanks dude, Martyrs got my attention too.

@Jordan: is it really THAT good? every friend of mine was like "omg this movie! omg!" but some reviews/critics I read said that it wasn't that awesome... well, it's all about tastes I think. Gonna give it a chance, thanks furik.

^ Yeah, Martyrs is one of those shocking movies where scenes just burn into your psyche, and the whole atmosphere remains with you for a while. Like you don't wanna watch another movie right after it (at least that's how it was with me). Very powerful stuff.

I've got some more:

- [REC], and its sequel (very nice 'shaky camera'/video crew style Spanish horror movies)

- The Beyond (from Lucio Fulci, classic Italian horror: mysterious occult atmosphere and lots of gore)

- City of the Living Dead (see the description above xD)

These are basically scary horror movies IMO. Other horrors I've watched were more on the 'simply entertaining' side.

The movies themselves aren't really frightening. Nothing you couldn't get over. But rather you start to hate your cell after watching them. You never want to see that little bastard again.

I've seen lots of movies and I have to admit I don't really think they're scary at all.

There was one movie though, that had me feeling a little scared and annoyed and that is "The Descent". It was undeniably creepy. And it wasn't an asian one.

You're right, that's a pretty good one! Especially if the viewer is claustrophobic. I like how the tension just builds and builds and builds, and then at one point all hell breaks loose (with a very very effective "holy shit!"-type of moment, too xD).

Many critics pan the second half of Insidious but the first half is so build up with plot that it doesn't even matter if the second half was a let down.

It has a lot of shock/jump scenes that are truly scary. It's not a gore movie, it's made just for scare.

I've seen a lot of scary movies but this one. Ugh. I was up till 7 in the morning when I watched it.

and i personally am terrified by the Paranormal Activity films

i am not scared by any horror movie, except Paranormal Activity 1 and 2 (im going to see 3 next week and im already terrified XD) and Rec 1, didnt like 2 as much.

i hate movies when you are the camera, the action is so much closer, you are more involved in the sorry

yea you're right, the only Asian remakes that are good just Ring 2,

and that's because it got some original story line.

And Grudge 1 and 2 pretty good too.

But most of the time they cannot capture

the same emotion, fear and suspense like original does.

I was really scared at paranormal activity and the last exorcism...

Insidious was little bit scary too...

I am sure I watched over 200 horror movies in the last few years.... I was really addicted to that stuff for a while... xD

the most uarrrgh stuff was more or less:

- A serbian Film

- The Hill have eyes 1

- Grotesque

- French Horror Movies xD ==> high tensions, martyrs usw ~

and many others...

I really like the horror movies from Rob Zombie... they are kinda creative... and funny xD

and you all should watch RED STATE ... its not really horror... but well done indie movie ~

at least some classic movies like all nightmare on elm street movies or the grudge (ju on)

have anyone watch The Perfect House by Chris Raab yet?

Starring Dustin Stevens, Fellisa Rose, Jonathan Tiersten, John Philbin, Holly Green.

It looks like a good fun gory horror movie from the trailer.

About (serial?) killer and the cellar of a house.

Cellar have always been frightening place when i was kid,

maybe this movie could bring back the tension into me lol

Since it is indie, it is only have limited release, one must demand it to their local theatres.
