And in hindsight, starting the season the way they did makes even more sense now. Clever AF!

New track sounds solid. Very old-school sounding, but it's taking more from those weird/different death metal bands like Demilich, Timeghoul, Nocturnus and Catacomb, than your more straight-forward stuff like Autopsy, Death, Entombed and so on. Beautiful cover art, and the Bloodbourne and Dark Souls lyrics just adds a bit of weirdness tbh. Should be a very good album.

Pros: easy to find new bands, can listen before you buy and so on. And the sheer amount of bands gives you countless options.

Cons: the sheer amount of albums being released makes it so hard to keep up, and to find a proper diamond you basically have to check out a lot of albums because everything drowns among the amount of albums. And I don't feel like I have as much time to give albums the time they need to truly shine.

Back in the days, way before I had internet, the way we bought albums was simple: we bought magazines with reviews and after a while we got to know the tastes of the reviewers. So we knew who was matching our tastes in music and not. So if an album got a proper good review we'd go out to the music stores close to us and give a few tracks a listen there, and then buy it if it sounded good. And then for the next weeks that's the album(s) we'd be spinning on repeat. It was fun, but at the same time we did buy a lot of albums that gave off a good first impression, but we ended up getting rid off. Felt like such a waste of money. Nowadays that just doesn't happen to me, unless I just buy something blind which I do every now and then. Because that's a lot of fun, but sadly too expensive.

This is the same as with movies, video games and so on too. Same shit. When we bought, or even rented, movies and games back in the days we ALWAYS saw/played it through. No matter how bad our first impression was we watched or played the entire thing through. Sometimes it payed off, other times we felt betrayed.

And another pros is that feeling when I discovered new albums/bands back in the days before I had internet. That is a feeling I do not get anymore at all. Like. Not ever. But back then it was something quite special, because it was also so rare to find that one band that changed everything for you personally.

Good first post by Euronymous and a very interesting subject of matter. Because there is no doubt things have changed hella lot over the past 10-20 years.

Yeah, that sounds very good tbh. I'm usually down for whatever Luca Turilli does, and this is no exception. And honestly, I get a strong Luca Turilli, than any version of Rhapsody-feeling from this. It just leans more towards that sci-fi feeling, than your Rhapsody-esque fantasy-feeling. Sounds good.

I'm always intrigued by a new Gravewurm album, but I always try to keep my expectations beneath the roof. This is one of those bands that just keeps giving, but they're more about quantity than quality. 15 albums since 2000, as well as a few EPs and tons of split albums. If they've taken about half the tracks and released half as many albums we'd have 7-8 brilliant albums, but instead we have 15 albums that's uneven as fuck. Never bad, but not always amazing either.

This album does sound very good tho. Imagine Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Darkthrone and Nunslaughter having a baby. Pretty cool band, just too uneven.

Great and unique band indeed. Such a cool mix of Paul Chain (Violet Theatre), Death SS, Black Hole, The Black, Zess, Requiem, Arpia, Run After To and so on and they don't try to hide it at all. But they make it sound so unique.

I highly recommend L'Impero delle Ombre, I Compagni di Baal and Focus Indulgens for fans of Abysmal Grief. They're obviously very inspired by the horror-doom of Abysmal Grief as well as all the bands I mentioned above.

Since we're talking about a band with Roman Saenko, let's listen to this new Windswept album. Black metal with Roman Saenko, as well as Krechet and Vlad from Drudkh/Precambrian/ex-Blood of Kingu/ex-Old Silver Key,/ex-Pragmatik. All bands they played in with Roman Saenko. Windswept is basically a less folky and more raw Drudkh, with a more wintry atmosphere to it as opposed to the much more warmer atmosphere if Drudkh. Album sounds good too.

Yeah, I love me some Hate Forest. Criminally underrated band with the band's entire discography being really good. Purity and Sorrow's my favorite albums by the band. Never really though of Darkthrone while listening to the band, but I always got a strong Immortal-feeling from the majority of the releases, and especially Battles in the North. Kinda sounds a bit like Battles in The North mixed with several of the the BlazeBirth Hall bands like Branikald, Forest, Rundagor, Raven Dark and Vargleide.

Good albums indeed, but this has nothing to do with brutal death metal tho. Sounds like a mix of doom influenced death metal in the vein of Autopsy and Coffins, and Swedish death metal in the vein of old Entombed, Grave and Dismember. Ossuarium also carries some Incantation influence. But I do agree with you. Good recommendation for sure!

Brutal death metal is actually a sub-genre of death metal that sounds very different from this. Classic examples are bands like Dying Fetus, Skinless, Gorgasm, Internal Bleeding and more. Personally I am not a big fan of brutal death metal with a few exceptions. But it's pretty popular actually, which is a bit of a surprise to me. But I think one of the reasons for this is the mix of fast, brutal and relentless riffing and drumming with groovy and catchy breakdowns.

Great, dramatic episode with some proper moments based close to solely on chemistry. Also, Tormund owns it! Should obviously end up on the iron throne and just kill whoever doesn't like it. Why? Because he's fucking worth it. Fantastic character!

The new track, B.T.B. (Beyond the Blade), is so good and that cover art is awesome. This will be great!

    Krypts - Cadaver Circulation

I thought the demo and EP they released in 2009 and 2011 were excellent, but their debut album disappointed me a lot. It just lacked the sheer twisted darkness they had before it. Couldn't really get into the production at all. The second album was a huge step ut but I never could get into it like I did the demos. But I tried the debut album again earlier today and thought it was really good, so I will give both albums a new, fair chance. Hopefully they'll stick better now than they did.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg - New Organon

A band that, at their best, have been brilliant, but I can't get into everything. I like their more sci-fi themed albums like Traveller and Digital Resistance. But apparently this doesn't sound anything like those albums.

    Amulet - The Inevitable War

Their debut album, The First, are a masterpiece of modern heavy metal so I cannot wait for this. Expectations are HIGH!

    Lvcifyre - Sacrament

Their previous stuff has been alright so this is interesting. Death/black metal.

Hellish Grave - Hell No Longer Waits

Black/thrash. Older stuff is good, so this should be cool too.

I can't see this as being of interest to anyone on this forum, but this shit needs to be posted. Lord Gore recently got back together after having disbanded in 2006 and released a new demo. Death metal/grindcore tracks in the vein of Impetigo, Blood Freak, Mortician and so on. Just spun it and it sounds awesome. So nasty!

Really? I thought it was a great beginning, and spending the shortest episode of the season to re-introduce the characters, their missions and tell us where they are and what they're planning is pretty much as much as you can expect imo. Excellent episode, and the dialogue already feels fifty times better than what they offered us in season 7. So much more well-developed and well-written.

Everything John Waters is worth seeing tbh. Such a unique director.

As for the acting and dialogue, it's all on purpose to get the campy attitude that he loves. Because he's intentionally going for camp, and he's nailing it every single time.

I watched S. Craig Zahler's (Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99) new flick Dragged Across Concrete the other day, and it was bloody fantastic with both Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn giving some of their best performances ever. It's really fucking mean, grim, nasty, dirty, gritty and intense. It's more of a slow-burning neo-noir drama movie than a high-speed neo-noir thriller movie, and it works. Brilliantly directed, acted, shot and written. Superb dialogue!

Is S. Craig Zahler the most promising new director out there? Fucking yes!

    Bone Tomahawk - 10/10
    Brawl in Cell Block 99 - 9/10
    Dragged Across Concrete - 9/10

He's looking more and more like a modern Tarantino in that he seem to love to cast against type, writes dialogue that is bold as fuck and will put a lot of people off, makes slow movies, shows incredible violence and just does whatever the fuck he wants and makes movies for himself. He was asked to cut Dragged Across Concrete for cinemas to have a widespread release, but he told them to fuck off and only got  a few screenings on a few selected cinemas. That's the shit I love!
