Thought I'd go through some of my favourite punk bands with some words, a track and some shit, like I often do for some weird reason. Probably to tempt others to check 'em out, instead of just making a list:

    Misfits (with Danzig!)
I think it's very important to add that when I say Misfits I'm talking about Misfits with Danzig. Misfits without Danzig isn't necessarily a bad band, but it just isn't very good or interesting either in my eyes. Anyway, Misfits was a horror punk band, but music-wise they visited several subgenres of punk. from pop-punk on their early releases to proper hardcore punk later on. Great and unique vocals from Danzig who also wrote the songs. What a man!

Their first album, Static Age (recorded in 1978 but not released before 1997), are more on the poppy side of things, very cool, catchy and pretty unique IMO. 9/10

Their second album, 12 Hits from Hell, was another one that didn't see the light of day until years later. Recorded in 1980, but not released before 2001 and even then it wasn't poperly released. Anyway, this, for me as a fanboy, is a great album. Not their best and not essential, but still great.  Music-wise they've ventured a bit closer to the traditional punk sound. Harder than before. 8/10

Their third album, Walk Among Us, which is their first released album, is top god damned notch punk. This is a fantastic release of classic horror punk. Harder and meaner than before. As with their next album it's one of my all-time favourite unk albums. 10/10

Their fourth, and in my eyes last good album, Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood, was released in 1983. This is a proper hardcore album with brilliant, heavy and hard songs, and at times they venture into more thrashy territory than other punk bands at the times. You could almost call this album proto-thrash, and it's harder, heavier and more brutal than the thrash metal albums released at the time. As I said earlier, one of the very best punk albums album. 10/10

Walk Among Us and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood have two of my favourite cover arts as well. They look so good!

There's also a lot of singles and stuff worth checking out, but I won't go through all them. But every single Misfits song written and featuring Glenn Danzig are amazing. Simple as that!

Going to a ceoncert with Lee "Scratch" Perry & Mad Professor tonight. Lee "Scratch" Perry is one of the true founders and godfather of both reggae and dub, and Mad Professor is one of the big dub artists throughout time. I'm not sure how this gig will play out, but it's supossedly a two hour long gig which seems like a hella long time for Lee "Scratch" Perry who's now 80 god damned years old. Anyway, I'm stoked for this gig. I guess it'll be awful to get up at 5am tomorrow, though, but I'm sure it's gonna be worth it.

Something cool I'm spinning at the moment: new Avernal album, great heavvvvy death fun.
Haven't listened to these guys before, but seems like I should have. Same goes for Desaster, their new album seemed pretty cool on first listen too (tho I wasn't paying much attention, so gonna re-listen soon).
Also, thanks Bear for mentioning Ripper in the March releases thread, gonna check them out, cuz they sound pretty sexy~

It's taken quite some time to gather three releases for march as I barely have checked out any new music in 2016, but I am finally there and ready to join in on this topic.

Blood Ceremony - Lords of Misrule
Blood Ceremony started out as a doom metal band and their debut album was very much a straight up doom metal album, but since then they've released three more albums and with every new album they takeb huge steps away from the doom metal-side of their early sound and walked deeper and deeper into the world of psychedelic and folk rock. The band already had a unique sound to begin with, and especially their second full-lenght, but with each release they've also become more unique and found their own unique and original sound.  Lords of Misrule sees Blood Ceremony at their most rockish, but they keep the Hammer Horror-inspired atmosphere and there's something very folk horror-esque about their sound, and now more than ever.  I just can't help but to think of films such as The Wicker Man, Blood on Satan's Claw and The Devil Rides Out when listening to this masterpiece. It's a bit early to tell, but after 10 listens or so I am confident that this is their best album till now.
    Flower Phantoms

    Ripper - Experiment of Existence
I wasn't very impressed with Rippers debut album, Raising the Corpse, to be gin with, but with time I've really rearnt how to appreciate that album which made me really stoked for their follow-up, Experiment of Existence. And I was not let down at all. Ripper continue what they started on their debut, meaning furious death/thrash heavily inspired by the first few records by bands such as Kreator, Destruction, Sadus, Sepultura and Possessed. Fariyl straight-forward stuff, but it sounds great. Deadly riffing, angry vocals and great bassing. One of the things that truly helps set this apart from other death/thrash bands of today is the bass-player. There's something very Steve DiGiorgio- (Sadus, Death), Roger Patterson- (Atheist) esque over the bassing at times. Very cool stuff!
    The Alpha Orions

Davie Allan & Joel Grind split
What a surprise of a release this is. Three years after the release of Toxic Holocaust mainman Joel Grind's  The Yellowgoat Sessions under the name Joel Grind, he returns with a split with surf rock legend Davie Allan. The Yellowgoat Sessions was a black/speed metal album heavily inspired by Bathory, Venom, Bulldozer, Sodom, Midnight and more Motörhead, so that was what I expected from the next Joel Grind release as well. But this is pretty far from black/speed metal. This is sleazy, acid-drenched and fuzzed-out bikersploitation-influenced surf rock. Both artists contribute with two instrumentals each. The Davie Allan-side is pretty classic surf rock Davie Alan-style, heavy, catchy and fuckin' awesome. The Joel Grind-side leans a bit more towards metal, but without losing the surf rock-feeling of it all. A very cool release!
CHeck out Davie Allan's Recycled and Joel Grind's The Invisible Landscape here!

The Witch - I had high expectations, and wasn't let down. This movie totally sucks you in, and manages to create a creepy unnerving vibe right from the start and maintains it until the very end without the use of jump scares (okay, there were maybe like 2-3 such moments, but it's all good). Beautiful, haunting and grotesque imagery, an excellent score that will make your skin crawl, and fantastic grim atmosphere. My only complaint was that there were no subtitles at all (I watched it as part of a film festival here), so the old-timey English was really really hard to comprehend at times, haha. Anyway, strongly recommended!!

Getting ready for the night train towards Oslo with a couple of beers and some good music. While the idea of night train is lovely, it's usually fucking awful because it's always so god damned cold there. I'm always freezing like hell when taking it, but it's usually a bit cheaper so I always end up going with the night train. Ugh.

Fuking love me some Donkey Kong. I haven't had the chance to try Tropical Freeze yet, but Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Country Returns are all a part of my top 10 video games ever. Video games just doesn't get much more fun than these games. The game play, the overall style of the games, the soundtracks. Phenomenal!

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! is awfully underrated btw. Such a great game!

Me and my girlfriend have played through the three first Donkey Kong County games 7-8 times and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3-4 times since we got together three and a half year ago. These four games, along with Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island are easily my most played games ever. Yeah, well leave out Donkey Kong Returns, but the other 7 are the ones I've played the most for sure. I've probably beaten all of them 20-25 times at least, and I'm still not tired of it.

Super Mario Bros. 2 is super underrated as well btw. Brilliant game!

The 'rules', in case anyone forgot:

    Let's get started!

MUNIMUNI - A KILLS A / You can't believe how much I waited for this release (well, any new release by them xD), and it sure delivered. Maybe I'm just biased, but this definitely touches AOTY territory for me, even if it's just a short EP of sorts. MUNIMUNI continue on the path of blurring early '80s goth rock and post-punk tendencies with a dark and obscure visual kei flair, wearing their influences on their sleeves. Great tunes, awesome atmosphere.

Cobalt - Slow Forever / One of my friends turned me onto these guys at the beginning of the year, so my hype for the new album wasn't all that huge, but I guess it would be similar for an old listener like me with MUNIMUNI: this new (double) album dropped after 7 years of silence! What a gargantuan, monolithic beast! Mixing black metal, progessive traits and just general extreme aggression, Cobalt forge some ungodly aural behemoths. Not an easy record.

Domo Genesis - Genesis / First full-length from the Odd Future dude, after a handful of mixtapes that didn't really grab my attention. I stumbled upon the music video totally by accident, but it dragged me in HARD. What a delicious funky tune! The rest of the album isn't too far behind in terms of grooviness, nor quality. Top-notch productions, some cool raps, and overall nice chillin' feeling. Perfect accompaniment to warm spring/summer afternoons and nights.

    Honorable mentions

ギャロ (THE GALLO) - DIAVOLO / Typical gallo kei, only this time it's even better! Can't complain.
Guerrilla Toss - Eraser Stargazer / Totally crazy and funky noise-pop that fans of Melt-Banana and Afrirampo would dig.
Church of Misery - And Then There Were None... / Not as remarkable as their last effort, but solid nevertheless. Doom on!

Started on Daredevil season 2 today and four episodes in I'm shocked by how good this is. Story-wise it doesn't seem to be quite as good as the first season, but action-wise it's already been much better. Some really spectacular and very un-american action-scenes, just as in the first. But it feels much more brutal, much darker and a lot more playful.

That corridor/stairwell scene in episode three was just too good.

That shit is just too good. I think I watched that video something like 15 times after I finished the episode. That's something you expect to see in asian martial arts films, not american superhero series. Breathtaking!

Got back home early today. Jesus christ, my body is wrecked but as usual it's been totally worth it. I think I missed out on two bands I wanted to see, but that shit always happens when it's a festival. A short summary:

    Wednesday:

Gorguts kicked off Inferno for me and my friends, and what an awful gig. None in our company, no matter if we don't get the band, like a couple of albums or adore the band liked the gig. We all really disliked it and just had to leave. 2/10
Hetroertzen looked like they were onto something but the sound was just awful, so we left halfway into the gig. They've been under heavy critizism in the past for goinf with this weird-as-fuck image, but to my huge disappointment they went for a plain and standard black metal look this time. No fairy-shit. 4/10
Exodus ended the evening for us and was superb. A nice setlist, good sound and a fantastic energy you just had to love. Very good gig! 9/10

    Exodus:

    Thursday:

Vader was already well into their set when we arrived, which sucked because the 20-25 minutes we saw was very good. The sound was good, the band looked like they had plenty fun and it was all good. 8/10
Marduk was our next band out and they did well. Played a surprisingly slow setlist wich obviously made it a lot easier for the sound guy to fix the sound, but I was let down by the bass drums. They sounded awfully triggered to my ears and ruined a lot of the experience for me. Everything else was good, though. 7/10
Cattle Decapitation I've already written about, and they were the big surprise of this years Inferno. A god damn fantastic gig is what they delivered. I'm not a fan, but live they were completely different live than on record. Less brutal and much more controlled, yet heavy and brutal as fuck. Great energy too! Kudos to the guitarist for his awesome playing style and fucking ridiculous haircut. 8/10
Mysticum is the band of the year for sure. What a set-up, what a light-show, what a gig! So simple, yet so massive and unique. Concerts simply doesn't get much better than this. Perfect! I'll also add that the band got a small fee to play at Inferno, but they actually went as far as to spend a big amount of money from their own pockets to get the rig they used for the show. It cost a lot more money than they got. Respect! 10/10

    Mysticum:

    Friday:

Sodom was, like Vader the previous day, halfway into their set when we arrived, but the 20-25 minutes we saw was very cool. A tad too modern for my taste, especially oldies like Blasphemer and Sodomy and Lust (which they started right when we arrived) was too god damn modern. They just didn't play them the way they should be played, which is a shame. But a cover of Motorhead's Iron Fist with Abbath on vocals were fantastic and totally made up for it. 7/10
Suffocation started out OK, but I am not a big fan and after a couple of songs it felt like they were just repeating the two same songs over and over again. Got tired after a couple of songs and had to struggle not to go hanf myself. 3/10
Craft was alright, but they're not exactly a fantastic live band and the vocalist looked like he had the shittiest time of his life. He did not look like he was were he wanted to be, nor like he enjoy playing life. But Demonspeed and Fuck the Universe really rocked. 6/10
Nile headlined this day and played for 90 fucking minutes. It was godawful! The bass drums were the worst of Inferno this year, and the only thing that was not boring as fuck was some of the talk between the songs. Especially Dallas Toler-Wade was great. But other than that I though it sucked. 2/10
The Crawling was another band I had wanted to see, but we only saw half before we left. I thought it was boring as fuck. 4/10

    Sodom:

    Saturday:

Nifelheim kicked off the fourth and last day of Inferno Festival 2016 for us, and what a way to kick off the last day. Second best gig of the festival for me. The sound was great, the attitude were on point and the setlist was brilliant, but for a band with only gold in their discography that's quite obvious. I loved everything about this gig. Perfect! 10/10
Moonsorrow was, alongside Nifelheim, the band I looked the most forward to and they did not at all disappoint. Not the best of the festival obviously, but third best I'd say. They struggled a bit with the sound and 85% of the synth completely drowned in the mix, but that was actually a positive thing as what we got was a much darker and blacker gig which suited the band a lot. I played Pimea on the voirs but told my friend they would not play this live, I knoew that much. But to my big surprised they played it live and it was like a trip to heaven. Jesus christ it was good! 9/10
Månegarm is a band I think it OK, but I'm not a big fan of the band. But I wanted to see them, tried and left early on. It was so boring, and they were so standard. I wanted viking metal, but this was straight forward black metal without any viking metal feeling whatsoever. Poor as fuck! 3/10
Mayhem ended Inferno Fesitval 2016 and in great fashion too. This was a gig full of what I'd call fan service, which is the first time I see for a metal band. Maniac, Messiah and Manheim all guested and did songs from their respective era which was a very cool touch to the gig. Very, very good gig! 8/10

    Nifelheim:

And that's that. A brilliant fest and lots of amazing concerts. Happy!

To be honest I never understood why Game of Thrones got so popular. I'm a fan and I god damn love the TV-series, but slow-burning and dialogue-driven political dramas like Game of Thrones doesn't usually gain this amount of popularity among "casual" watchers. Its popularity is well-deserved, but I am still quite baffled about this. As far as dialogue and characters goes there's no series out there that matches Game of Thrones. Every single time characters like Tyrion, Varys, Tywin, Olenna, Cersei and Petyr opens their god damn mouth you have a fantastic scene no matter how few or may words they say, and when two or more of them are on the screen at the same time, talking and shit, you have one of the best scenes ever. It's that simple.

Child's Play - That feeling when you rewatch a film for the first time in 10-12 years and the film is not just as good as you remembered it, but even better. The whole concept of a killer doll is a bit stupid, truly, but Chucky is a bit of a fucking creep and he just looks evil, which makes it work. Child's Play is a supernatural horror leaning towards the slashers of old, and it's cheesy as fuck. But it's filled with suspense and atmosphere, and it feels rather classy, despite its budget and plot. Everything just works so damn well. It's just a very well-made and cool film overall.

Frontière(s) - One of many great films of the New French Extremity (Horror) wave, and been waiting to see this for long I had build up quite a massive exectation to this film. I'd say that this is one of the better films in the subgenre french extremities. Frontière(s) is politically driven, dark, bleak, raw and brutal horror film, and while not original in itself, but some of its visual style and directing feels original. And it's a very daring film, with it not being shy of using images and themes that's dangerously close to Holocaust, but it works because there's such a strong meaning behind it all.

Stripped down, yet artsy backwoods horror/torture porn that surely is inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I even see hints of The Fly and other body horror in some of the its gore and characters. Great film!

An Idiot Abroad is just pure comedy gold and among the best within the genre of comedy, be it film, series, stand-up or whatever. Absolutely brilliant! Karl Pilkington should be the one and only world ruler! No kiddin'.
Ross Kemp on Gangs is very intense and interesting, especially since I am very fascinated by different gangs around the world.
Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle is a must for anyone who enjoys superheroes but don't knnw everything about it. I thought it was an excellent and thorough exploration into the world of superheroes, from the begining of it all and to what it has become.

And for their debut they've chosen the interesting title "Prajecyrujučy sinhuliarnaje wypramieńwańnie Daktryny Absaliutnaha j Usiopahłynaĺnaha Zła skroź šaścihrannuju pryzmu Sîn-Ahhī-Erība na hipierpawierchniu zadyjakaĺnaha kaŭčęha zasnawaĺnikaŭ kosmatęchničnaha ordęna palieakantakta, najstaražytnyja ipastasi dawosiewych cywilizacyj prywodziać u ruch ręzanansny transfarmatar časowapadobnaj biaskoncaści budučyni u ćwiardyniach absierwatoryi Nwn-Hu-Kek-Amon, uwasabliajučy ŭ ęfirnuju matęryju prach Ałulima na zachad ad ękzapłaniety PSRB 1620-26b"
