I've not played through the game yet, but I've tried it now and then. And yeah, the gameplay truly adds to the soundtrack. Or the opposite. Anyway, fantastic soundtrack. The Hotline Miami soundtrack was the one I mentioned in the post above my new one where I mentioned Crypt of the Necrodancer and more. Hehe! Both HM games got brilliant soundtracks. I mentioned Far Cry: Blood Dragon earlier, and this is the best track on the soundtrack: This one of actually from a cult 80's film called Miami Connection. A total fucking cheese fest with two of my favourite songs ever (Friends Forever being one of them). A must-see for any fan of cheese!

Some interesting news from the world of metal: Unanimated - Annihilation A brand new 4 song EP by Unanimated, one of the most overlooked bands of the 90's. The first release since the good, but disappointing In the Light of Darkness from 2009. I am very much looking forward to this. Really wondering what this will sound like. Ill Omen - The Grande Usurper Australian one-man band by Desolate/VI from bands like Austere, Funeral Mourning and Nazxul. The previous albums has been dark and crushing black metal, so this should be good. Crawl - Rituals Dark and crushing death metal from Sweden. They seems to have moved even further away from their black metal roots. Sounds softer and more inspired by the likes of Alcest, but it sounds really good tbh. The fucking trombone too, tho. Dear God have I missed Sear Bliss' majestic use of trombone for years now. The trombone parts are nothing short of mind blowing and majestic. Not quite sold on the clean vocals tho. https://searblisshhr.bandcamp.com/album/letters-from-the-edge Satan - The Doomsday Clock Satan made one hell of a comeback in 2013 with their modern heavy metal masterpiece Life Sentence, and two years later they released an album that was just as good, if not better in form of Atom by Atom. Life Sentence came 26, though they did release a few albums as Pariah in the late 80's. The new teaser sounds awesome. The riffing is just wild. Wytch Hazel - II: Sojourn After a single, an EP and a split Wytch Hazel released their hard rocking heavy metal debut album in 2016, an album, while not as good as their previous stuff, was very, very good. But judging from the first song they released off the album, this is gonna be bloody brilliant. Take the heavy and epic of Pagan Altar, mix it with the mysticism of Tarot and the rocking twin leads of Thin Lizzy and mix it up and you got the sound of this new song. So damn good! If the rest of the album is as good as Save My Life, I'll be a damn Christian before the album ends. Which in Jungle Rot's case means straight forward groovy death metal, ugly-as-fuck cover art and lyrics about war, death murder and torture. Though the new track is a bit more thrashy than expected, and features Schmier of Destruction on guest vocals. Void of Silence - The Sky Over Funeral doom/dark ambient. Dark, heavy and beautiful. Their worst vocalist Malfeitor Fabban (Aborym) was great, and their second vocalist Alan Nemtheanga (Primordial) are among my very favourites ever, no matter genre. But after Alan Nemtheanga they've never really managed to find anyone close to his caliber. Vocal-vise I was very disappointed with The Grave of Civilization, and juding from the new track The Sky Over will also be very disappointing as far as the vocals goes. Part of Laibach's discography can surely be counted as martial industrial, though I'll admit I am not too experienced with the genre. But if not proper martial industrial, they're surely to martial industrial what Venom and Mercyful Fate is to black metal. Anyway Laibach rules. Spectre gotta be my favourite with tracks such as The Whistleblowers and Bossanova as my favourites. But these count more as electro-industrial I guess. Anyway, awesome band and super-superb live band.

Dear God, video game soundtracks have really stepped up the game over the past 10 years or so. Holy fuckity fuck! I'm a huge fan of soundtracks to a crapload of 90's video games, but in the last decade shit's been taken to a whole new level with the addition of synthwave, weirdass techno-esque music and so. I can't get enough.

This EP from 1984 is so fucking good. It's a real shame this was their only release. Cult USPM in the vein of Griffin, Omen and Liege Lord. And the bassist is none other than James McGearty who played in Christian Mistress from 79 to 83 or something, and played on classics such as Only Theatre of Pain and Deathwish. This EP rules!

Neofolk, martial industrial and the other off-shots/sub-genres are music I've enjoyed for quite a few years, but it's only over the past two-three years that I've really gone into the depth of the genre that is neofolk and its sub-genres and gotten very much into full albums, rather than a song here and a song there like before. It's a genre which has spawned so many bands over the years and like all genres that are "easy" to make, record and release, it's filled with a ton of godawful bands. But you also got stuff like Darkwood, Sol Invictus, Blood Axis, Death in June, Current 93, Nature And Organisation, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio and so on that's released a shitload of good music. A genre I've really come to appreciate as I've grown older. A few catchy tracks to get you new lot into these beautiful genres. I know there's at least a few others who are into this type of music here, so please discuss.

The fans, lack of proper vinyl releases and the fact that I think the vast majority of bands fucking suck annoys me the most. Have to check out 50 new bands to find a mediocre one, and 100 to find a good one.

I went to Trondheim Rocks yesterday, the second day of a mini-festival and saw Sabaton, Killswitch Engage and Iron Maiden. I fucking hate Sabaton and Killswitch Engage for obvious reasons, and I am not exactly a huge Iron Maiden fan either. I mean, I worship their first six albums, but after that there's only the rare track here and there that I enjoy. And I for one have no problem stating that Iron Maiden has not been relevant as a studio band since the mediocre Fear of the Dark, released in 1992. And they are getting old too so I didn't have big expectation or anything like that. I went just so I can say that I've seen Iron Maiden live, and not because I expected a good concert. Sabaton played first and was as embarrassing as ever. I've seen them before, and they were lousy as hell. This time they were even worse. This is Eurovision metal at its worst with one of the worst vocalists ever. God damn! Killswitch Engage was next up and is a band my mates wanted to see. I can't fucking stand modern, melodic metalcore since it's fucking trash, and dear god they were bad live. Shitty music performed in a shitty way. Can it get any worse? Iron Maiden however was shockingly good. Bruce sang amazing for the entire two hours, the entire band showcased an amazing amount of youthful energy, the band played really well and the overall sound was exceptional. They got a shitload of cool backdrops and stuff too. But the most impressive aspect of this brilliant concert was how they managed to put new, positive energy into overplayed tracks like The Tooper, Run to the Hills, Hallowed Be Thy Name, 2 Minutes to Midnight and The Evil That Men Do, as well as bad and boring tracks like Fear of the Dark, Sign of the Cross, The Clansman and For the Greater Good of God and make them sound amazing live. I am impressed! What a gig from a bunch of oldies. Two thumbs up!

I've only heard the Black Sabbath album before, and not even heard the other four. Just picked them up because I really liked the cover art. All of them were really cheap with the expetion of Jukon Speakers. If I were to buy these off discogs I'd have to pay something like $140, while I got the five for $75 in the store. I was pretty impressed by them too. Two psychobilly albums (The Rockats and Cyclone) and two raw garage rock albums (The Tempos and Jukon Speakers). Cyclone and The Tempos sounds absolutely brilliant so far. Really diggin' it! I've missed this feeling you get from buying album unheard. Doesn't happen too often nowadays, but when I was younger and didn't have internet me and my brother often went to the local library to order albums online. 50-60% of everything I bought we bought without having heard the band before. Just bought it off the words off the street or coverart, like I did now. Bought them because I really liked the cover art. Fun!

The Strangers: Prey at Night - I'm a big fan of the original The Strangers from 2008, but this sequel lacks everything that made the original so good. Where is did the suspense, mystery and atmosphere go? They've gone from home invasion that makes sense to a slasher that makes no sense. It asks so many questions throughout the film, but it answers close to none of them. But the main problem is that the tension is all gone. It has some decent kills and a fabulous soundtrack, but the good ends there. Mediocre at best. Shame, and a huge letdown. Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort - A mess of a film. It's not godawful as it's got a few fun kills, but the attempt at telling a story is really fucking awful. It feels like they've written a story and then just gone on a made it without thinking it through. Such a disappointing end to the series. Also, some of the make-up is awful!

Tomb Raider - Decent enough action-adventure, but the writers really hasn't done Lara Croft any justice here. It doesn't really feel like a Tomb Raider film, and at the end of the day it feels more like a 5th rate Indiana Jones movie than anything else. You have Indiana Jones on the top with Operation Condor: Armour of God 2 just slightly behind, then you've got the 2nd rate rip offs like Romancing the Stone, The Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy (1999) and Adventures of Tintin, then the 3rd rate stuff like High Road to China, National Treasure and National Treasure 2, then the 4th rate rip offs like King Solomon's Mines, Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold and Firewalker. And I am a huge fan of all these. I am so weak when it comes to adventure films like Indiana Jones. But after those you've got the new Tomb Raider film. Better than the Angelina Jolie films, but still not nearly good enough. It's so superficial and the action isn't good enough. Nor is the CGI. Beyond the Law / Made of Steel - Crime-thriller from 1993 with Charlie Sheen, and what a fucking beast of a movie. It doesn't really know what exactly it wants to be, but despite this it manages to balance perfectly between a dark, serious drama-thriller and cheesy crime-thriller. I expected this to be cool for sure, but I did not expect it to actually be good. Like in a well-written, well-directed and well-acted film That was a huge surprise. Really enjoyed this. Alongside Platoon and the god damned masterpiece that is The Wraith the best films he's ever done. Really cool!

I was let down by the new album. Musically it's fine, but the vocals are weird as fuck. They're all over the place, but a lot of the styles used doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It's not like that because the music requires it, it's there because the band feels like they have to add more variety to the music. Complete and utter stupidity.

Really? Oh my! That is shocking considering how good their previous albums are. You simply need to spin their albums again. Ritual, Elizabeth and Genesis off Opus Eponymous. Ghuleh / Zombie Queen, Year Zero and Monstrance Clock off Infestissumam. From the Pinnacle to the Pit, He Is and Absolution off Meliora. Brilliant stuff and in general three of the best rock music made in recent years. The mix of doomish heavy metal, heavy rock, progressive rock and pop are just amazing. And while not original, they've always manage to stand out from the crowd.

I went to Stockholm this Thursday to see Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience and it was an experience for sure. The sound was as massive as it was majestic and emotional, and there was more than enough eye candy in form of scenes from the series, different musicians being in the focus and great use of pyro to keep everyone's eye pleased as well. Composer and main dirigent Ramin Djawadi also gave away the role as dirigent to one of his other musicians and stepped up to play an instrument a few times himself, including guitar, piano and a cool instrument I do not know the name of. Which was a very sweet detail. Another cool detail was the guy who played flute and a lot of other weird instruments. In one of the pieces he was the leading man and he went mental while playing some truly odd instruments, one of them a 12-foot long Wildling horn made specially for these gigs. This is not my footage btw. I was too busy enjoying the experience to pick up my phone. I was lost inside the world of Game of Thrones. 6/6. Will go again as soon as this shows up anywhere in Europe again. The two negatives for me were the Ericksson Globe which was a mediocre arena for such a concert and a big part of the audience who were way, way late despite the concert being belated. But the most frustrating was people taking pictures in the dark with their fucking blitz on. This happened despite all the photo ban signs placed all over the place. Completely fucking sub-human behavior. These sub-humans deserves a humiliating public execution.

Not heard it yet. But the new Ghost sounds really good after a few spins. Really nice and catchy pop-rock.

Wild Wild Country - Documentary about Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Ma Anand Sheela, his followers in the Rajneeshpuram community and how they more or less wanted to build a better America. Complete and utter madness, though far from as crazy and over the top as Evil Genius. But it was really good! The Confession Tapes - A series that takes a look at the american justice system, mostly focused around how fucked up the law enforcement is. It's seven episodes and six cases where the confessions might have been false due to how the police work. But the interesting thing here isn't finding out about how the crime actually went down, if they are guilty or wrongfully convicted. Nah, the interesting thing is how the police work and how they get their confessions. Some truly shocking footage, and I hope they make a sequel that digs even further into their methods and how they work and are willing to do anything to find someone to take the blame, even if that person had nothing to do with the crime to begin with.

Been listening to a lot of newer rap lately, with Scarlxrd and Suicideboys being two of the more impressive ones. Been trying to get into Suiceboys for a wile, but it never really clicked until I heard Eternal Grey, with Chariot of Fire being the track that got me sold. So good! Scarlxrd the GOAT tho. I love how fucking ugly the production sounds. The leads, the melodies, the production. Good stuff.

Enzeru koppu aka Angel Cop was very good. The plot is awfully silly, but it does get more and more interesting and over the top as it goes, and that's something I can really enjoy. Starts off as a fairly traditional cyberpunk series, but as the series goes on it just gets crazier and crazier. Lots of violence, weirdness, good soundtrack and nice visual style and animation. I liked it a lot!

Party Bus to Hell - I didn't have very high expectations to this, but even with the low expectations this was a sad affair. Really cheap horror with elements of comedy that features a shitload of nudity and blood, but everything about it was godawful. Simple as that.

Yeah, some good stuff being posted here now. Let me add this artist too called Mystic Towers. Really good, medieval dungeon synth. Beautiful! And people need to check out Jim Kirkwood asap. The genres differs a bit from album to album, but he stays within the realm of dungeon synth, ambient, dark ambient, berlin-school and electronic fantasy. There's a shitload of albums on youtube, and I recommend every single one that I've heard. Truly excellent, and he evokes a lot of different feelings and create plenty different atmospheres on the different albums. Top notch!

Black Sunday is one the finest gothic horror films ever, and it features the breakthrough role of Barbara Steele, a woman who would go on to become one of the biggest icons within the realm of horror ever. And this is one of the finest performances. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Wrong Turn - Very good backwood horror with a familiar plot, even more familiar characters and nice gory deaths. And the latter is what makes this real fun. The special effects are good, the deaths are fun and it's all good. It's not original, it's not clever, it's not special in any way, shape or form. But fans of throwback slashers with lots of violence and blood should enjoy it. 7/10 Wrong Turn 2: Dead End - A slasher sequel that's better than the original? Yeah, that's what we've got here. Of all the films in the franchise, this is by far the best one. The characters, the plot, the deaths and ultimately that it's got Henry fucking Rollin in one of the biggest roles in the film. What a man he is! So good. But the entire film, with the exception of one small CGI arrow, is really good. Great shit! 8/10 Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead - The first film in the franchise for director Declan O'Brien, and by far his worst one. Which makes me wonder if he was thrown in towards the end of pre-production or if he played a role from the beginning, because there are elements here that you won't find in the two others he directed. And that main difference is the use of CGI, because there's a lot of CGI gore here and it all fucking sucks. Like...it looks like bad CGI from 2001. It's so bad. But the entire film is pretty bad tbh, even though there are a few entertaining deaths. 3/10 Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings - The second entry by Declan O'Brien and the first prequel, and frankly this is a huge step up. Not as good as the two first films, but pretty entertaining nonetheless. The massive opening deaths scene is a really fucking pleasure to the eye, and one of the main reasons I wonder if he didn't get to decide as much as he wanted with Wrong Turn 3. Reminds me hella lot of one of the Fritt Vilt movies, just miles better. Some truly great death scenes! 6/10 Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines - Not a good film by any means, but it's very entertaining nonetheless. The third film by Declan O'Brien and the second prequel. Some truly amazing and gory death scenes that really captured my attention. 6/10 If you want stupid, brainless slasher films with lots of gore, you can't really go wrong with these unless you got a problem with stupid characters, corny dialogue and weak plots. Don't Go in the Woods - One of the many infamous video nasties of the 70's. It's got some blood and gore, but by todays standards it's not all that. But if you, like me, can appreciate poor directing, godawful acting, even worse dialogue and a truly fucking awful score, then you might enjoy this. An early backwood horror movie. It's awful, but I really like it. Cool film! Mardi Gras Massacre - Another of the many infamous video nasties of the 70's. Mardi Gras Massacre is a loose remake of the classic Herschell Gordon Lewis movie Blood Feast, and it's a fun one. Not nearly as good, but it's entertaining enough for sure. Corny as fuck, but that's what I like.

Mario Bava was a master of both gothic horror and giallo, so you've got a lot to look forward to. But he's got some fun films within other genres as well, such as adventure, sword-and-sandal, western and fantasy films. But it's the horror films that really put in on the map as one of the best directors ever. Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, The Whip and the Body, Kill, Baby, Kill and Baron Blood are exceptional examples of gothic horror. The Girl Who Knew Too Much, Blood and Black Lace, Five Dolls for an August Moon, Hatchet for the Honeymoon and A Bay of Blood are all exceptional giallo films. On top of that he also has other good-to-amazing horror films like Lisa and the Devil, Planet of the Vampires, Shock and Caltiki – The Immortal Monster. And if you want something other than horror I will gladly recommend Danger: Diabolik, Rabid Dogs, Erik the Conqueror and Hercules in the Haunted World. And even those of these that are lacking in certain parts are very good because of Mario Bava's eye for unique touches and his visual style. His son, Lamberto Bava, also has a lot of fun films to his name. Not nearly as talented as his father, but he knew how to make entertaining films. That's for sure.
