As you might know, the Dangan guys have been playing all over Japan as the opening act for Blu-BiLLioN 6th anniversary oneman tour 「Gift」. Since the start of October they have visited a total of 16 livehouses in different prefectures, and today's tour semifinal at Hamamatsu FORCE was their last as they won't be performing at BB's tour final in Kawasaki on Xmas day. Here are some photos from tonight! Bonus pic of Mike because i love him (LOL) Group shot of Dangan with the BB guys! <333333333333 They have constantly been tweeting about what an incredible experience it has been playing on BB's tour Miyuu was so excited when Mike invited him on stage to sing H&H together at the Kyoto live and it's so nice to see them hitting it off ^^ I'm especially happy for Dangan because a lot of bands their size wouldn't have the resources to tour outside of the major cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka), but on this tour they managed to perform at sooo many of the smaller cities that even more established vk bands tend to skip over like Kofu and Hamamatsu. Naturally that translates to more fans, especially around the Kanto suburban areas that will make all the difference sometimes when a band is trying to fill a big Tokyo livehouse - which they will be trying to on 2/18 at O-West! ( wonder if Resistar is taking this chance to assess if they should sign Dangan haha..)

Other than their bassist, everyone else has been playing together since their previous band A≠ris. I've been following the members since then so I thought I'll start a thread for them. Anyone else likes them?

Anfiel is more than halfway through their August Cup tour now! 11/12 in Niigata - it's their first time there! 11/15 Shinyokohama NEW SIDE BEACH [they played last today so they could squeeze another song in. incredibly happy to see them play 冬桜] 11/19 Okayama IMAGE 11/20 Hiroshima Second Clutch And off to Kyushu.... 11/22 Fukuoka DRUM BE-1 [this show was kinda emotional for them because RAVE is also on this tour, and for them performing here has an added significance after Mikuru left them. i wonder if that's the reason Anfiel chose to play 虹色絵本 - a song that's rarely on the setlist] 11/23 Kumamoto B.9 V1 [their first time in this prefecture!] they have left Kyushu and are now in Kansai! tonight's live at Esaka MUSE Anfiel played Lamplight=melody for the very first time tonight!!!! Tomorrow they will be playing in Kyoto. yukito is excited because he has never been there (lolol). Also, the 2nd round of ticket reservation for their 2nd anniversary oneman on 1/22 has begun today at 19:00 JST: http://eplus.jp/sys/main.jsp?prm=U=14:P1=0005:P2=178432:P5=0001:P6=982:P10=10 balloting is over and it's now first come first served.
  13. it's definitely less common! nocturnal bloodlust is probably one of the very few famous ones who went down that route? haha and nope HAZZE actually sounded quite different here's a song i uploaded from their mini:
  14. yup! and before the formation of CRIMZON, all 3 of purple stone's members were in the (non-vk) band called HAZZE that's directly managed by GIZA studios
  15. keiya will compose Kuraki Mai's new single "Yesterday Love", which will be the ending theme for Detective Conan from 12/7 Btw they are label mates (Crimzon is a subsidiary of GIZA, whose artists have been doing OP/ED for Detective Conan since like... forever). This song will be credited under "Kubota Keiya" (the same name he used when he was in GARDE/HAZZE)

really sad to hear this. they haven't been around for that long but they're one of those bands that always put in 100% for everything. i was hoping they would be able to find someone to replace hiro and halto but i guess it wasn't to be T_T

well i'm embarrassingly ignorant of j-indies but i do listen to a fair bit of poppy vk vocalists so for what it's worth: i can possibly see how some people might think the cinema staff vocalist sounds vk-ish, although personally i wouldn't think so myself. i think the distinction is quite tricky because as much as people often associate theatricality with vk, you can find similar qualities manifesting in j-indies in another manner: e.g. the intense/"shrill" kind of execution, and on the other extreme of the spectrum, the "aloof", lounge-y, "flat" delivery. it's probably fair to say that the cinema staff doesn't fall into either of these brackets, so maybe that's why they don't sound as ostensibly 'j-indies'? to me there's still a discernible j-indies inflection in his vocals though, quite similar to those you find in pop-rock bands like NEXX, [Alexandros], and Fo'xTails - i dunno if they are j-indies (probably not) although they definitely aren't vk haha. that said, he does remind me a little of UNiTE's Yui - but even his style of vocals is kind of a rarity in vk. actually i feel that most of the bigger pop-vk bands (Guild, Anli Pollicino, BB, Dangan, SID, Megamasso, etc.) don't even sound that vk - in that (i) people who aren't familiar with vk won't be immediately turned off, (ii) there's little common ground between their vocalists. there are exceptions like the BPR bands; Royz probably comes closest to what i'll associate with a 'vk pop sound' if there was ever one. of course, a lot of these are based on broad-brush stereotypes that don't do any justice to either scene imo. across both scenes, vocals vary to such an extent that even if you take some kind of a weighted average (assuming that was even possible) it's still not representative of the scene as a whole. that's also why it's easy to find correspondences, although i tend not to make too much of them. i also haven't voted because i'm not that familiar with either band (my interest in chanty only extends as far as hoarding shia chekis.. oops)
