http://natalie.mu/music/news/214505 <-- seems like they will actually disband after these last lives, or I am misreading things (I was misreading things / reading too much into it)

I know it's an old post, but VOX ( https://vox.rocks ) can play pretty much anything and is a very nice alternative to iTunes if you just need music. it got updated heavily from the "student-made" Vox it was 4 years ago

my office mates are getting a bunch of Switches to play Splatoon 2. It became a small tradition to organize Splatoon tournaments between IT companies in Tokyo

NieR:Automata gameplay is very platinum, judging by the demos I was able to play. The exploring and moving around the world is an experience in and of itself. Can't wait for the official release… and to die many more times to the "balls all over the place" bosses

the lyrics make little sense, but the music is very catchy
  10. TSUTAYA, ClosetChild, disc union - are my go to places to get my new music fix. Also borrowing the music the people around me like and resonated with me somehow

<name>やろう!(can mean either "let's do it, <name>" or a rude way to address someone) <-- kinda stuck in my head and I'm calling my subordinates this from time to time 耐えてみせる。(will show that it can endure it) <-- usually using it when designing some new prototypes

  16. wish I could select all of them… I like the "experimental rock" part about VK bands in general. started listening to it since BUCK-TICK and following to this day. every era contains a couple of favorite bands

    hmm… I wonder what is it (insta-buy if it's an album/single).

The bands I used to listen to (lynch, Dir En Grey, MUCC, Merry, X, the GazettE) are still alive and kicking in Japan. Google trends might just display the interest over time, and the trends change whether we like it or not >_> gazerock is not dead

In Japan visual kei was already niche. There are big names (Golden Bomber, MUCC, X, Luna Sea) but most of them have to fight now with the emerging "Loud Rock" (metalcore and hard punk) scene. Visual Summit was packed this year. I do wonder why The West lost their interest in VK.

  23. I'll admit the best method of learning japanese is to be forced to speak it to survive (that's how I learned it, living in Japan atm). Before that, my preferred way of learning languages is to immerse myself in the media. I'd recommend to watch "nichijou" (slice of life) anime titles as they usually have the least jargon and their vocabulary is pretty close to the day to day japanese. For reading - I found reading manga with furigana (regardless of genre) to help getting used to the kanji a lot.

Using Apple's ecosystem right now (iPhone, iTunes, AirPlay) I have a special Windows setup to tag and manage the music I get/buy. Most of the software I'm using is pretty dated and needs Windows to run: - QMPlayer for Gracenote lookup (needs to be in a format QMP can read and tag) - foobar2000 for conversion from anything to ALAC/AAC - MusicBrainz Picard for tagging - mp3tag to copy/paste tags between files or just fix the tags in old files My day to day machine is a MacBook Pro, hence I use some OSX tools too: - XLD to rip the CDs (can use iTunes' lookup data, musicbrainz or CDDB) - vox/XLD to convert from obscure formats to ALAC/AAC - Metadatics to edit the tags btw, if you're a fan of j-music, use XLD on OSX (or cdparanoia on linux) to rip old CDs from big japanese labels. some of them have rootkits to prevent audio ripping on windows.

I'm an active musicbrainz editor. Stumbled upon this forum after looking for info about some obscure visual kei band. Was lurking ever since
