Nightmare all the way for me. If this band is good at something, it's setting the moods for the perfect solos. Here a few examples.
-
Isn't really anyone I'd choose in your list... 1. Galneryus - Beyond Of The Ground 2. Opeth - Coil 3. Dir en grey - 明日無き幸福,呼笑亡き明日 4. Immolation - Nailed To God 5. Dir en grey - Glass Skin 6. Vader - Fight Fire With Fire 7. Dir en grey - 凱歌、沈黙が眠る頃 8. Rammstein - Bestrafe Mich 9. Old Man's Child - Captives Of Humanity 10. Malice Mizer - S-Conscious Not the best list... but Glass Skin saves it. Although Galneryus and Rammstein are close, too.

I just watched the PV for I'm high roller... Actually I couldn't stop thinking of Sendai Kamotsu because that's where I would more expect this song to come from.
-
Kaoru also mentioned that they have been in immense time pressure due to requests for a new album, and that "The Unraveling" was simply made to gain some time. I think it's possible therefore that Rinkaku and Unraveling will both be presented in the new album. Also I recongize some patterns here. From "Unraveling" to "Sustain the Untruth"? Sounds almost like a concept.

Yet again, I don't know a single artist of yours! 1. Deadlock - 10.000 Generations in Blood 2. ナイトメア - まほら 3. Ellegarden - スターフィッシュ 4. Chthonic - Grab The Soul To Hell (Pandemonia ver.) 5. D - 山水詩 6. Versailles - Philia 7. Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Deceit 8. ナイトメア - Sabbat 9. ナイトメア - To For 10. ギルガメッシュ - イノチノキ This is seriously one of the best german metal songs of all time. Amazing chorus, gotta choose that.

Lol don't know any of these. 1. Cynic - Box up my bones 2. Immolation - Power and Shame 3. Immortal - Moonrise Fields of Sorrow 4. Dimmu Borgir - Sorgens Kammer Del. II 5. ナイトメア - swallowtail 6. 2Pac - Changed Man 7. Behemoth - Dragon's Lair (Cosmic Flames And Two Barbaric Seasons) 8. Dimmu Borgir - Den Gejmte Sannhets Hersker 9. The Agonist - The Mass Of The Earth 10. Dir en grey - ain't afraid to die Mh. A black metal list almost. I go with old Dimmu, chilling and fits to Diablo III pretty good.

Oh god. Not again. And I could predict the progression of the song after listening mere 5 seconds into it.

If you set down your expectations and completely ignore what band you're actually listening to, it's kinda enjoyable for some parts. There are horrible tracks like ASSaulter (exactly, that song is f****** ass), and there are pretty good tracks like droid and errors. The electronic adds don't really make things better or worse, since it's the songwriting for itself which is heavily flawed in about half of the album. And it gives you false expectations right at the beginning, with a very nostalgic, solid intro song! But really, if you shut down all your senses and need just some random background music for a gaming session or whatever, SCUMS doesn't completely fail. If you consider this as a Nightmare release though... it's bad, and the few good tracks won't help it very much. Let's just hope after their foreign shows they got some new inspiration or new spirit to forget about SCUMS or that other mess, Dizzy. (Why call this Scums, anyway? They come up with the most glitter, high society-like costumes ever and talk about being scum. Either there is some deep philosophy behind this, or ... whatever) EDIT: Well, I had to limit my anger to "only" 3 songs of this album (ASSaulter, Dissemble, 404) since after about 10 listens this strange effect comes in that I normally only know from Dir en grey. I wouldn't have thought there is so much to discover in terms of melody and structure in this album. I just had to add this since I believe my original review does the album great unjustice. It's actually not that bad, or so to say it'S much better than the previous 2 albums. Kinda embarassing...lol

@nekkichi Well as you can see on the single versions the management actually did some sort of ensurance policy.. they put PV making ofs on it this time along with the obligatory PVs! So relatively more distraction from the horrid music for the pubescing fangirls.

Ok, so here's the thread for the full single review. I'm excited about your opinions (if you got any). For me, the single is.. completely useless in many different ways. I can't really say that I'm disappointed in a certain way, because I don't really expect something groundbreaking from them any more. But anyway. The main problem about the whole product is that the sound is going nowhere. Predictable hooks, solos, this goes especially for the title track, which can't be a more generous Nightmare track. It's not as bad as ASSaulter, but it remains a boring-as-hell song which you can imagine as some sort of shuffle from various post-MP-tracks. The other two tracks don't make it any better for me. I wouldn't say I expected that super-poppy rock sound in this particular way (it certainly doesn't sound like regular Nightmare, i have at least give that to them), but they stay useless nontheless. Apart from the fact that these songs imho have the stupidest Nightmare titles of all time, it feels more and more ensuring that Nightmare feel comfortable doing music for the very younger folks, as they one stated in an interview. Because that's what "i'm High Roller" and "Killed in summer" sound like. I can well imagine these melodies in some disney musical, rather than in a Nightmare concert hall. For fans of fancy radio-poprock it may just be the right music, but for me as a more and more depressed Nightmare-veteran.. it's enough. Nightmare have chosen a path on which i can't follow them anymore, and this single was kind of the revelation I needed to finally drop my hopes. Dizzy - 0/10 I'm High Roller - 1/10 Killed in Summer - 1/10

Oh something else. I just had some "debate" on youtube about this certain band and I'd just love to repeat it here: I have the verry unpopular opinion that bands are full of sh*t when they quit, and then reform under another name and with lightly different costumes doing the same damn music as before. It's a dirty sellout trick to young fangirls, and sadly it works. You might know on which band in particular I was playing on, that has done this shameful act just recently.

I don't know who started that unnecessary hype on the Gazette, but i'd like to hurt him/her. The Gazette are bad. Yes, they are. Shitty, wrecked and without quality. As soon as the vocalist starts...ahem..singing, my intestines feel like they're imploding. Sorry for that troll rant, hating the Gazette is very unpopular, but at least i'm honest about it.

Jigsaw, just got a new addition to your picture list above Only found that pic, but it's kinda obvious he's trying to copy Kyo (Deg) more than anything else-
-
I'd probably go with Rentrer en Soi. I don't know the others though. 1. The Agonist - Globus Hystericus 2. D - 背徳の蜜は苦よもぎのように 3. 仙台貨物 - Saipan 4. ナイトメア - Vice 5. Dir en grey - Ain't afraid to die 6. Fleshgod Apocalypse - In Honour Of Reason 7. X Japan - 紅 8. Chthonic - Sail Into The Sunset's Fire 9. ファンタスマゴリア - NIL FRONTIER 10. Behemoth - As Above So Below If there is a metalcore band I really like, it's the Agonist. They're so good they don't even sound like metalcore. But a kickass list overall!

Laibach are the best! Geburt einer Nation brought me to heavier music....nostalgic 1. Dir en grey - Amber 2. Dir en grey - New Age Culture 3. Demonaz - Northern Hymn 4. Gorillaz - Last Living Souls 5. Chthonic - Bloody Waves Of Sorrow 6. exist†trace - Lilin 7. Dir en grey - Machiavellism 8. ナイトメア - 時分ノ花 9. Deathgaze - Silence 10. Cannabis Corpse - Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise Omg this song truly holds memories. And old/mid Nightmare are still one of the best VK bands out there.
-
Phew I don't know ANY of the songs since my last post, really bad luck. 1. Dir en grey - Repetition Of Hatred 2. Lamb of God - Desolation 3. Dir en grey - The Final ~unplugged~ 4. Sigh - Curse Of Izanagi 5. Chthonic - Progeny of Rmdax Tasing 6. Demonaz - Over The Mountains 7. Opeth - Haxprocess 8. Cannibal Corpse - Beyond The Cemetery 9. Porcupine Tree - Strip The Soul 10. ナイトメア - 18歳 Hmm. A good list for sure. I'l give this one to Sigh. I loooove the Hail Horror Hail album. ...And why do I still have LoG on my Iphone? Gotta do some outsourcing...

@Rez DUH The intro theme sounds like the intro of cannibal corpse's "sentenced to burn"

So much chapanese on this list 1. Rammstein - Rammstein 2. Dimmu Borgir - Absolute Sole Right 3. Deadlock - To Where The Skies Are Blue 4. Deathgaze - Faze Human, Raze Human 5. Eminem - Talkin 2 Myself 6. Girugamesh - 叶えぬ夢 7. Rentrer En Soi - The Abyss Of Despair 8. Deluhi - 黄泉の譲り葉 9. 9Goats Black Out - Panta Rhei 10. Vader - Lord Of Thorns Oh I forgot my favourite. Well it just has to be Rammstein. I've really not listened to them in a while, and the nostalgic feeling is too much to ignore. @Rez I know what you mean...

Hmm, on the scale of vocalists I don't like personally, there would be Kamijo and Ai (Deathgaze). The one from Kiryu is also pretty annoying with his high-pitched voice. And then there are surely the one of Byakura and Ruki (Gazette). Annoying whining no good for I.
-
OH! Totally random but cool somehow 1. Deathgaze - 「2940362204052」 2. Gojira - In The Wilderness 3. Belphegor - Blood Magic Necromance 4. lynch. - Judgement 5. ナイトメア - 砂 6. Hour Of Penance - Enlightened Submission 7. Vader - What Colour Is Your Blood? 8. Belphegor - Das Pesthaus (Miasma Epilog) 9. Cynic - Nunc Fluens 10. ギルガメッシュ - 再会 2 Times Belphegor? Nah, still a good shuffle. But kinda hyperactive when playing :DD

Every now and then I look up some lyrics for the sake of having them looked up. It's sort of medium importance for me, but I do find them important. BUT only if they are not ghostwritten, they have to be real.
-
Seriously? I don't think you should interpret so much into it. It's VK after all. I find it more likely (from what I've seen) that he is given a certain persona to act on.
-
I don't think Kyo would like the existence of these...
