That's one hell of a support, heh.

Dat tour title, lol. Anyway totally going to the Budapest gig!
  3. Now that's a whole mouthful, lol. Anyway, it seems the MEJI' guys are getting better and better! The title track almost seems to go along their typical formula of pop-rock but with lots of added nuances, like the subtle guitarplay here and there, the little synthy parts and some interesting segments (the mellower part in the middle is gorgeous!). Of course the extra-epic chorus deserves a mention too. Oh wait, the bass is pretty freakin' awesome throughout too! See? ...it manages to remain entertaining, so the nearly 6 minutes go by pretty fast. Melancholia is a pretty kickass track with some killer guitars from MiA - I gotta take a moment here to commend him on his toned-down and tasteful playing (opposed to the samey guitar-wank of yesterdays). It's a bit more subtle and less flashy than your usual MEJIBRAY song but that's what makes it work. Even Tsuzuku stays within 'safe' boundaries (you know what I mean, haha)... overall a pretty solid track without much showing off. Seems like they saved the best for last - the closer track is just plain epic! I didn't expect much listening to the quiet and subdued beginning but then dat riffin' starts...holy shit. It's a pretty varied track, going from quiet and ballad-like to heaviness and a majestic chorus. Gotta love those background synths complementing the guitars! Again, Koichi is pretty kewl on the bass, and Meto does some cool drum rolls and fills here and there. Top-notch! Welp, this was pretty fuckin' good, excuse my French. This is probably my favorite out of their 3 recent singles (with the previous one being 2nd fave). If they had released these as one album with an intro slapped on I'd have absolutely no complaints (as opposed to their debut album). | yes yes yesss

I gotta admit, I've always been kinda iffy about the Buttlust guys going VK, especially them toning down their deathcore roots a bit in favor of more deluted melodic metalcore influences and incorporating those typical "oh let's have a melodic chorus here cuz why not?" instances but I slowly got to appreciate some of GRIMOIRE. Now let's see what they cooked up this time~ Zoey - Pretty cool intro with a cool atmosphere (like on their album), nothing more to say. VENOM - Nice heavy start! A kind of typical NB track with a forgettable melodic chorus - shame about that, cuz otherwise it's pretty kickass. Well, I guess the other parts being so good it isn't that much of a nuisance. Puppet Creature - This song is more like a mixture, has a bit of that modern VK sound, coupled with the usual br00tality... and also a swingy beat with acoustic embellishments WUT. First it seemed a bit out of place but the more I listen to it... it's kinda alright I guess. This song is pretty colorful, that's for sure at least. Good one! V.I.P - I can clearly hear why this became the 'anchor' track of the release so to speak - it has the most catchy parts! They pull out everything from the background shouts to the disco beats with chuggy riffin' and some tastefully melodic vocals. Pretty awesome, if a bit too long song. Defect in Perfection - I was really looking forward to this re-recording, since it's one of my early favorites from NB. They didn't change it up or anything (I think?), just played a faithful rendition of it with an amped-up production. In other words - br00talicious!! 8D FATE - The 'epic closer track' of the mini... well, that's all to it I guess. Not bad. I like it a bit more now than on first listen at least. Overall this was a pretty nice mini album, with some variety within reasonable boundaries. I do wish they did more stuff like Defect in Perfection again but I guess that's not too realistic an expectation. Oh well, I can dig this, at least the production sounds way better and more powerful. All in all, not much to complain about, a solid release. | okay stuff, the usual

My thoughts exactly. Had a really killer old-school black/thrash vibe with a bit of modern touches here and there... till the obligatory stock-melodic-singing kicked in. xD Not bad tho overall!
  7. Jigsaw9

Same, it's a pretty cool album... has an instant 4-5 awesome songs, same amount of okay songs, and same amount of forgettable/"could be good if listened to more in the future" type tracks. xD
  8. Now there's a name I wasn't expecting to read about anytime soon... cool! Looking forward to it.

^ Hmmm maybe try Suspiria and Inferno (in this order, they are loosely connected), those are older ones by Dario Argento, very colorful, atmospheric and stylishly shot. In the Mouth of Madness is a pretty cool one too, kinda inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. Then there are movies that balance between horror and psycho-thriller or psycho-weirdness, such as Jacob's Ladder or Angel Heart. Incidentally all these I listed somehow have a gradually escalating, uneasy, nightmare-like quality to them. Also they're from around the '70s to '90s, so if you want something newer, I dunno... maybe Shutter Island? (tho that's not really horror) I also heard ppl praise the film House of the Devil but I found it boring (but maybe it's worth a shot).

Yeah, it's supposed to be the 20th anniversary of his solo works or whatever. Btw next year is his 50th anniversary so to speak (birthday, I mean) so we can expect lots of stuff then too, I guess. XD

^ The aforementioned Black Sabbath is a nice (oldie) one, also I recommend Trick 'r Treat if you haven't seen it yet - although if I remember well it's more like an intertwining of many stories instead of really stand-alone ones, but it's been a while since I've last seen it.

    Yay~ sounds good!

^ I found V/H/S super-boring, except maybe for the first story (the one with the guys going to the club and hooking up with a weird girl). I did like V/H/S 2 somewhat, surprisingly! The story "Safe Haven" where a filming crew goes to a far-off building complex to film an obscure cult is one of the freakiest and most demented things I've seen in this so-called "found footage" subgenre. From the moment it starts out it gets more and more tense and uneasy, and then it explodes and the real "fun" starts. Recommended! edit: oh hey, here's the whole story on Youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s27VijwqAZw

Horror of Dracula is a nice one! Another highly entertaining Hammer Horror flick that comes to mind is The Devil Rides Out (tho some "epic" scenes might look a bit ridiculous by today's standards). Oh, and their first Frankenstein movie is pretty cool too! (never actually got to watch the following oodles of Dracula and Frankenstein movies... yet) Also lol, gotta love Re-Animator! Tho I generally love Jeffrey Combs' performances - Castle Freak, and the more recent Would You Rather are good examples.

LOL am I really the only one so far who is genuinely glad and excited to hear new music from these guys? :'D
  21. Random cool stuff: looks like the single will come in a colored jewel case.

Love the look, hate the covers... oh, and the tracklist looks interesting.
