Nihit's latest blog post makes it seem like he didn't want the band to end. From what I could gather through google translate, it also seems that one of the members wanted to leave, so they instead disbanded because they felt that the four members were perfect(?)

Well shit ... While they weren't very original (the opening to "seraph" was pretty much snatched from girugamesh's "Go Ahead"), I still dug their sound. So hopefully they'll move onto better projects. And release more.

The sample isn't that bad. It's kind of the sound I expected, pretty standard "heavy" VK.

I mean Ai's solo career is doing well so far and this band of Naoki's is gaining recognition, so this seems to suggest that DEATHGAZE's member still have a decent size following and why wouldn't DEATHGAZE itself not if it's members do? I think that there may be a lot of different reasons that they went on hiatus but lack of a fanbase isn't one of them, clearly or Ai and Naoki wouldn't be getting promoted so hard with their new projects.
But isn't the fact that their solo projects are doing well further cementing the notion that DEATHGAZE doesn't need to get back together? I mean, they went on hiatus for a reason and if they're doing well solo, why bother changing that? I know some fans would like them to get back together, but the fact of the matter is that Ai is doing well enough on his own. Takaki has gone onto ORCALADE, to much hype, as with Naoki in dexcore, and Kousuke has been doing well in Unveil Raze.
I'm not sure if their fanbase was dying, but personally, I'm more enthusiastic about their new projects than DEATHGAZE, since I felt the band was getting a little stale.

Hmm. I may go to their live on the 7th since JILUKA and Deviloof are also playing.

It was pretty damn good to be honest. I haven't seen Nokubra live yet, but Deviloof put on a good cover!
EDIT: It looks like they've found a support guitarist, as well, if only for their live with Sick in two weeks.

I was at the oneman last night and it was a primarily male audience any way. They also played Nokubura's VENOM for their first encore!

Does anybody know whether or not this got ripped? I'd be interested to watch it with English subtitles.

Their releases have been getting progressively worse, but I still think they had promise ... Maybe they'll form another band as the same members, but under a different name this time.
