I'm torn on Ghost of Tsushima. It looks like samurai Assassin's Creed and while that is a great idea, I can't help but feel like this is cultural appropriation ...

Just because it's a Sony first-party game doesn't mean it's Japanese. It's developed by Sucker Punch, a studio from Seattle. Their latest State of Play states lots about how it's inherently and clearly an American production heavily influenced by old films by Kurosawa and the like. I think it looks great and I'm very excited for it. The cultural appropriation comment was a thought and it is, by definition, borderline appropriation.

I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that Sucker Punch aren't going to be getting anywhere near what the publisher is, they're a developer underneath the Playstation brand, if it were the other way around then yes that's definitely cultural appropriation. That being said the black and white filter and Japanese subs shows that this is more or less a love story and homage to the works of Kurosawa and others.
