    Not exactly classical or baroque, but I always liked this Kalimero track for doing their own impression of "My Favorite Thing" from The Sound of Music

     

    The track in question is Kalimero's "Miyako" song (starts at 8:33).

    As for actual classical/baroque music, the guitar solo in Babylon's "cherry lover" track is straight out Pachelbel's canon.

    Babylon released 66 unique songs in the span of 4.9 years, I think.

    68 tracks if you want to include Teddy (which was a RusH cover) and the instrumental track from the suna no yuuutsu mini-album. Of course not counting the re-recordings and remixes.

    They released like crazy all throughout 2004-2006.

    Not sure how much time it'd take to listen to it all, don't have all their discography on my PC at the moment.

     

    Also lol @ Phantasmagoria "No Imagination" album title, very fitting.

    Yeah I was gonna say, hide was definitely into late 90s american alternative metal/"nu metal". The video posted with Kyouka from Aliene Ma'riage from 2005, he looks like hide did in the late 90s.

     

    Babylon also had some nu metal influences, I remember when they released their 4th CD, people were a bit confused about Misa's track "Hana no miyako, ware, chirikeri", it has a corny nu-metal riff all throughout the verses, I remember people saying stuff like "wtf, Misa ripped off Linkin Park!", hehe. But I remember reading Misa saying the song went through a huge change from the original version he composed, and only during the chorus it's similar to the song he composed, the guitar riff from the verses were added by Youki.

    The nu-metal sound in Babylon was more due to Youki indeed, the songwriter from RusH (which also had a very nu metal/hide sound).

    Well this thread is like a year old but goddamn, this was hilarious to read.

     

    I just wanted to add that when I talked to ex-Da'vid/shito:aL Pietoro for the interview I put up on misa shito, I sent him the mp3s of Crime and Funeral songs, and he recognized them as the actual songs by Karma. So I'd say those are legit Karma songs and not Kisaki's, or covers or anything like that.

    From my personal experience - D'espairsRay fandom. They are pretty laid back, not too stuck up but not too many idiot, delusional fangirls among their ranks either. They aren't afraid to offer criticism of the band, but they aren't incessantly whiny and derogatory about changes the band makes and they maintain a positive, sane outlook. Even their fangirling is moderate.

    I remember some years back (2004, 2005?) DespairsRay had their first live on USA, or something, and a fangirl made a huuuge fangirl post on Livejournal about it.

    Of course it included the typical 4.000 word part about the pre-live ("went with mimi-chan and kiki-chon and we ate ramen lol so kawaii!") noone cares about, but then the actual live-report was just about one thing: how she grabbed the vocalist's crotch and didn't let go. Apparently the vocalist encouraged the behavior, etc.

    That's all I remember when I think of "despairsray fanbase" (which thankfully isn't frecuent).

    I can't remember how that song was (I didn't really like them much, except for "And then there were none" which was a bit more interesting than the rest), but is it short and energic by any chance?

    Since Misa is their producer, I think playing the same song in a row might be his idea, Babylon used to perform their song "Garou" a lot of times in a row since it was a short, wild 2 min. song. They sometimes played it 6 times in a row.

    Also the work fast thing might be a Misa thing too, I remember in the good old babylon days (except 2007) they never stopped releasing stuff
