  1. WOW, THAT SHIT IS A REAL MESS. Even the bass can't keep up. Wow. His vocal tone actually isn't unpleasant, but why is he forcing himself into Japanese? UGH, THE INSTRUMENTS. Not even my bass playing sounded that awful when I first picked it up. This is just a pile of rubbish. I can tolerate music when the vocals aren't quite up to par. But when even the instruments fail to do their deed, things get really bad. I've heard worse, yeah, but the bass being out of rhythm is a really big part. Man, this is irritating. The singer may not be able to sing properly, but at least the tone of his voice MIGHT be able to provide some acceptable results. He just needs practicing. The rest is just a huge mess. God, this makes my balls hurt in a bad way.

I've been very lazy lately. Even my Halloween "costume" (I'd rather just call it a bunch of makeup piled on my face) was a bit sub-par, sadly. (I'm the one on the left, the one of the right is my best friend. Well, I did do his makeup at least) Also, this is my usual self. So there.
  3. Well at least they managed to grab Reika, that guy is a monster on bass.
  4. Velovelo

^ This is actually a lot of makeup. Nobody has such a complexion (except maybe for a baby) without a good bunch of foundation, face powder, bronzer and highlighter. Trust me, it makes a world of difference. Sadly, most VK guys are pretty unwilling to "expose" themselves in such a way

This thread made me watch all those old, cheesy no-budget PVs again. Ahhh, good times! I really miss these guys, they should get back on track.

    It's MintJam~

I would like to participate and highlight a japanese band/project that has, in my opinion, garnered far too less interest within the forum. Thing is, my hard drive with all their releases died just two weeks ago. I'll only have the chance to link you a single song or two, which is, considering how versatile these guys are, not saying much. But it is awesome. In my ears, that is. So, yeah. I think I should link it? And I want you to review it, because you do it in a scrotch-tinglingly kind of nice way. Brb, my tongue's twisted. The PM you'll get from me will contain 2 links from the same band, and it'll leave you to review two seperate releases. I'd give you the whole thing, if I had it, but sadly it's gone over here. Sorry. Anyway, PM incoming.
  8. Velovelo

Well, let's see how this turns out. Can never hurt to at least listen to it once. Unless it's really awful, but I expect some highs and lows anyway.
  9. Not only supposedly, it actually is. They didn't only have a fight - Yohio did some idiotic shit to Seike, meanwhile Seremedy broke apart. Both of them are on really bad terms now, and it's funny how Yohio is being such an ass while preaching to the kids to be this and that. He's a giant money-grabbing, perverted hypocrite, haha
  10. Velovelo

Well, I am gay as fuck, but alas I don't like any of those guys. Which is probably good, because... Let's not go there. I just remember that they had a very annoying song with a constantly looping chorus that my ex was putting on repeat. Glad I don't remember it anymore. My mind must have erased it out of sheer horror. One thing that really made me think bad about these guys is the fact that they playbacked their olympic performance in 2012. Entirely. I'm sure it was a label decision, but, seriously? Your biggest opportunity in life and you just go Skrillex and press play? No me gusta!
  11. Velovelo

Considering it's Nightmare, I'm not very impressed. It's nice how energetic it is and all, production is good, but it just sounds like a meshup of their newer verse stuff with a semi-recycled chorus melody. They can do better, certainly.
  12. I read all the posts, but for some reason my odd brain is always getting back to that last Romantica Clip. (But huge thanks for your contributions!) If you listen to it just a bit more closely, you'll easily notice how all the instruments are out of sync. It's not just that the vocalist is really awful, but the other people are also totally incapable of playing their instruments. In most Kote-Kei bands, you actually have people playing the instruments rather okay to well, but this is like a mish-mash of everything bad there is about the genre. Composition, arrangement and delivery: Ugh, I'll give an A for effort, but an F for everything else. Sorry, my head is also a mish-mash currently. I'll try to respond to the other posts when I'm feeling a bit less delusional.
  13. I think Seremedy is far away from the fail we have witnessed here. They were alright. Compared to this. I found another "Romantica" gem and it makes me wonder why the hell these people make music at all. There you go:
  14. Haha, sorry, I wasn't completely disagreeing with your notion. Just wanted to get some clearance on the topic. Also, yes, I agree, they do not need a professional instructor. But what about their friends? I think it's really mean to lie to them about being a bunch of idiots musically. They'd be spared from publicly embarassing themselves. But maybe schadenfreude is also a factor. Sorry, I digress. Well, after watching all of these videos, this statement explains a lot.
  15. WOW, guys. You are awesome. I thought Crestilion was bad. Then I heard the keyboard in that New Story video. I almost pissed my pants at how awful it was. Then I watched the Romantica video and... I was floored. HOLY SHIT. This is so amazing...ly awful. What the fuck were they thinking? Nothing in this song is close to being good or anything, it's just plain horrid. Wow. Takes some ego to publish something like this ALONG WITH A MUSIC VIDEO. They fucking made a music video for this crap. I cannot believe it! All three of them must be totally tone-deaf. No more words for it, I'm shocked, man. Considering the topic of guidance and professionality. It's not a question of either of those. People just need to be decent and understanding enough to know what when they produce shit, they DO NOT release it. You don't really need a producer or manager to tell you that a song is crappy if you're capable enough of having a pair of ears and decent hearing ability. If something sounds this bad, you, as a normal human being, should be able to discern the difference between crappy and almost okay for yourself. I still don't effing understand how anybody can release something like that "Romantica" shit! It'll taint their names forever! Holy... Other than that, this one gets the prize for best comment here yet: Made my day!
  16. DISCLAIMER: This might result in a loss of either hearing, intelligence or good music taste. You have been warned. And don't take this lightly. You might have to puke later on. Also, I know this topic is pretty much a no-brainer, since most of this stuff follows the same agenda of being crap. But it's all fun and games until someone's ears start to bleed. Anyway, let's start. I am still in awe about how some of these western "VK" bands are as bad as they are. I cannot get my mind off it. Most western bands are being laughed upon for their chosen direction, but admittedly, there are decent ones. But there's also a shitload of bad stuff coming from there. (Why, hello, japanese scene! Give us some Maria Cross! Only maybe not) I'd like to start this thread with a hefty load of fail. And there you go, my dear masochists. (there is more stuff there, if you prefer to listen to it at your own risk) Sad thing is, the vocalist was in a pretty cool band as a bassist before. But wow, this really proves that you shouldn't just switch to something else on a whim unless you can somehow pull it off. It really sounds like they never rehearsed it. Well, does it? The studio version isn't as bad, but it is still very painful. I don't want to describe what's going on there too much, as it might insult some disabled people. The fact that people applaud and like them should be some kind of indicator that you can still sell shit at the value of gold. Ever had the urge to taste a sugar-coated piece of turd? Fear not, for this will be the first incentive for you to do so instead of listening to this. I'm not putting a finger on what's the better decision, though. I should bet on it, if I were to create the worst song ever, I'd be all over the news. Unlike these guys. Because being purposely bad nets you enough attention and it actually requres some skill and intelligence, Apparently. But these guys aren't even good at being bad. It's pitiful. Mind you, this isn't even close to most weaboo-kei bands. This is just amazingly crappy in several ways. Enjoy. And please don't file a lawsuit in case you do suffer some cerebral damage there. It could happen. P.S.: if you happen to find something similarly awful, share it. Do it.
  17. Velovelo

I'm not very surprised, actually. He's been in this "scene" and band for almost eight years. People tend to grow tired of getting pigeon-holed into scenes, and considering that, he was adamant enough to keep going longer than I expected he would. For example, the VK scene started to turn me off three or four years ago, so I don't dig into it that much anymore. He may either just need a break for himself or do something completely different. But I can completely understand his probable distain towards the scene and its conventions. That being said, I am still negatively surprised with "older" bands like GazettE keeping up their charade to their fans. I guess it feels like shit to be forced to not evolve or change as a person because the japanese public majority wants you to be a static, non-innovative but adorable idol. It's good that Kenzo stepped out. If he needs a timeout, I can perfectly understand it. Must be awful to perform generic songs for so many years of your lifetime.
  18. Velovelo

Haha, thanks! I thiiink that's possible, yeah. But I think i saw you in Friedrichshainer Volkspark with your boyfriend as well, but I'm not that sure. Anyway, nice to see you're on here as well *brofist
  19. Velovelo

A Realm Reborn is oddly not on that list, even SQEX are heavily promoting it. lol I don't really believe in Versus revoking its legendary vaporware status though...
  20. Velovelo

Wow, Hyura! Never thought I'd see you here! (It's been a while that we've seen each other, like, at the very last Visual Church where Ingo also went)
  21. Some of you might remember this guy from his Miyavi videos a few years back. Well, he's back, and he recorded a demo EP just before he moved to Tokyo for a year, which he just released about two days back. Before I hear Yohio comparisions coming in, this guy might not be as technical and sentimental as your favourite swedish hate target. But unlike that 17 year old Eurovision guy he actually does a good job at songwriting without sounding too much like a blatant J-Rock ripoff, imo. He makes a good effort at showcasing a more personalised side. On top of that, he spent his own money to record his stuff in an independant environment, so there's no grey-haired, old shitty componists involved, and no favourable daddies willing to spend some cash to get him to the top. It's all self-endorsed. He also recorded everything but the drums, and he had complete freedom during composition, so there's no idiot producer giving him advice. It's all independant. He did two songs in (mostly) Japanese, I think that's alright. They sound nice to me. Give it a try. I'll just post a few examples here: Prose & Provocation: Kaisou: Goodbye (My way): Btw, you can purchase with a fee of anything from 0 cents to infinity. So, if you like it, you maybe should support him financially! I think he deserves it, as he shows a skillful hand at fusing that J-Rock clichée with his own flavour. But... You should listen for yourself. Here's the link to the 3 song EP: http://yameki.bandcamp.com/

Yeah, Obligation is the song that put me off. It's not a good idea to feed your vocals to a computer if you can sing well enough and the FX isn't properly utilised. Autotune doesn't fit them, and I'd be happier if they dropped it, as they never use it to do something that benefits the song itself with it. It just sounds out of place.
  23. Velovelo

D.I.D. kind of irritates me, especially with Providentia. The way he uses his voice makes me cringe a little, even though I know he can sing really well. But there are so many random peaks and screechy notes in there. I cannot consistently enjoy it. It gets downright irritating at times, and that makes me sad. Nocturnal Bloodlust is another thing going into a direction I don't particularly like. The use of Melodyne and Autotune really ticks me off at times, and it really sounds like they don't really enjoy what they are doing, somehow. Their first two songs under the new name were nice, but it quickly went downhill afterwards. I'd call it a draw, but I'll give Nocturnal Bloodlust my vote, because their potential for great music is marginally higher to me. Mind you, I don't really like either of them at their current state, but D.I.D. will probably not do it for me at any stage of their lifetime. I just hope that NB will at least gradually drop that autotune crap, because I sincerely cannot bear it anymore.
  24. Velovelo

I like Kiryu, but for me it's definitely Kagrra, - easy choice. Kiryu are much harder to get used to, more erratic, partially confusing. As said, I enjoy them, but Kagrra, is a much easier listen and thus more enjoyable to my ears.
  25. And there we have it, disbanded as of today. Check their Facebook, it's pretty much everywhere.
