Whenever oshare kei is mentioned, one band comes in mind : An Cafe ^^ So like Zess is saying Realies are definitely leaning more to the oshare kei style but how exactly can oshare kei bands be defined nowadays ? >< If you take a classical oshare kei band like An Cafe and some others Aicle(unique awesomeness ),Aile,Juliette,Zip.er etc (got an endless list since when i got into vk i only looked for oshare kei bands lol) their style of music in nowhere to be found in the bands nowadays so in my opinion oshare kei must have developed to something completely different or stop existing >>> So i dont think you can call any band from the last years an oshare kei band since except the already ones that the most have disbaned no new bands come out claiming the title oshare-kei >< And like Champ mentioned bands like Devi+tec,Luche,Avivid in my opinion they can be said to be "neo" oshare kei bands but nowhere near the classic oshare kei style (Sorry if i didnt make out any sense because i wrote a lot as they came in mind ) (although i checked it 2-3 times >>)

This is weird. I was under the impression that pretty much every new band popping up in recent months is of the lighter, colorful style and makes happy, strongly dance-oriented music with lots and loops and samples and autotune. Stuff like DEVI+TEC. Avidit, カメレオ or LUCHe.
Sure, it's not classic oshare but to me it's just seems like the next step of it.

I am not really into oshare, except for Aicle. because they were pretty unique, but I agree to what the people here have said. Old and classic Oshare isn't popular for the same reason as traditional or darker visual kei is- because they don't sell well anymore.
I personally don't think that heavier or darker visual kei bands are 'in' now- if that would be the case there weren't so many techno-dance rock bands who overuse autotune and are all "everything's love and peace! Let's Party!" In that case we could even dare to say oshare is somehow still alive in the neo visual trend- but only the cover in which the neo visual bands are wrapped to be sold better to fangirls and fanboys who wnat their bands to be "KAWAIIII!".

UNPOPULAR OPINION NUMERO ICHI: I don't think people that don't buy any VK albums should be allowed to criticize or complain about band qualities when they aren't doing anything to help the genre economically. Money is a voting system for bands and the bands that get more money will live longer and disband less. (Look at how often bands disband.) Also don't think people should criticize a band for disbanding conditionally if they can't get a minimum number of people to a live. Yes it sucks. Yes the economy is bad for all. Yes Japanese cds are expensive and it's difficult to go see bands perform but I also think it's bullshit to refer to conditional disbandment as a trend or blackmail. Being in a band is a job for these people and they need the money to keep the band going and if they can't afford to buy outfits and make up and equipment and rent live houses for a night then they aren't going to be able to keep being a band. Everything costs money and being a greedy spoiled gaijin getting shit for free and bitching about the state of the scene (that you aren't even a part of locally in the country of Japan) is just redundant.

UNPOPULAR OPINION DOS: THE VISUAL KEI SCENE FOR PEOPLE NOT IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF JAPAN IS THE INTERNET AND THE RANDOM TOURS. VK scene for us is THE INTERNET. With out we'd be screwed. The only way you can bitch about the scene is if you've been to concerts in Japan and have experienced what the scene is like in it's native home land. Here in America the scene is American's laughing at Dir en Grey because they went to see Korn and Deftones and don't understand how the band got on stage or the random acts at lame ass anime conventions. Maybe if us foreigners support the bands then we'd have better lives and more incentive for bands to tour this country more. So if you really love save up your pennies to buy cds and dvds. I can't tell you how many Girugamesh, Dir en Grey, LM.C, etc CDs and DVDs onsale at American CD shops for 3-6 bucks a CD and 10 for a DVD. Which just proves how much isn't being bought.

Unpopular opinion FOAA: Tacky bands that recycle boring sounds and don't keep it fresh (The GazettE being the first to jump to mind,) aren't trying hard enough and need to step it the fuck up before I track them down and throw excrement in their faces. Blending slipknot riffs with luna sea sounds isn't innovative or interesting. It's lazy. 

My Dad to this day hates the Beetles but that's because he has an older sister that was swept up in Beetlemania and so he had to endure the whole thing to the bitter end through her.
 
I think a lot of the angry little boys mad about Bieber have sisters (or even Mom's) that are caught up in the Bieber storm. So going online and venting about how much they hate him is their only outlet from the agony they must go through. 
 
So I think there's a lot of that really and not so much sexism hatred or something (I'm not totally following what I just read). Yet just kinda take a step back and realize that these are probably dumb little boys that have to go to school everyday and deal with girls with Bieber pictures all over their binders and lockers. It might seem like they're going out of their way to hate on Bieber online but they probably have to deal with Bieber fans more than you may think.

Oh man, I'm not even gonna get into this. I'm not talking about the legitimacy of VK being metal or djent or any of that. For the most part I do agree with your post but that's not what I was really talking about. My initial post is mostly tongue-in-cheek, while I still don't agree that BABYMETAL is a metal band I'm also not being all BLARG METAL RAWR and slamming my face in my keyboard over it either.
 
BABYMETAL is an idol group with metal asethetics but not a metal band. There's really not much else to say about it, it's an idol group not a metal band. At least the VK bands that can barely play their instruments have a bit more legitimacy being 'metal' because they're an actual real band, not an idol group. 
 
That's basically why I don't agree with BABYMETAL being a metal band because they're not even a band, they're idol singers and an idol group.

I normally don't like auto-tune and electronic industrial metal or rock but going back to auto-tune, it definitely does have its place. The problem I have is when it's forcibly used and is painfully obvious how out of place it is. D.I.D. is fine because from the get go you know that they heavily use electronic elements in their music and the auto-tune actually goes along with it quite nicely. D.I.D. is the first band that has started to grow on me because they've balanced your traditional rock sound with the electronic sound quite nicely to the point that for someone like me that normally doesn't like heavily electronic music, can enjoy them because it's not so beebop technoy for me.

Ugh, I hope this four type release nonsense doesn't become the new standard.
 
Otherwise, preview is good but not super duper excited. Waiting to hear the full version when it's all over YouTube. D is always a huge hit or miss band, some songs are fantastic and other songs leave me cringing so it's always a surprise what we get from them.

Anyway I don't like them simply because they're not metal. As a pop band they're fine though. Just the elitist metal snob cringes when they call themselves metal and people think this is metal. From a pop perspective I could like them but the two young ones that make squeaky Japanese girl noises in every song makes them unbearable. Fire them and keep the older one that sings lead and this group could be better.
I agree though with your overall argument. , make them cute little VK boys and people would claim BABYMETAL as the saviors of VK. Basically all those multi vocalist bands like Gakkido and Monorail (I think that's them) are basically gross boy bands in the same vein as BABYMETAL.
I never noticed much hate for them on MH though, only on the metal forums I frequent when some gross ass otaku shows up and starts praising BABYMETAL because everything from Japan is better.

Honestly Jupiter would be the commercial band considering they're the ones on the major label sporting a softer and safer visual look.

It's being reported that basically the PV is the story of Louis (Kamijo) being seduced and turned into a vampire by Mana.

I think what they mean is that Versailles trapped themselves in the frilly aristocratic vampire theme. Not so much VK itself limiting them but the specific theme that Versailles set themselves up as.
With that in mind but I think a positive look on VK is that it will oftentimes allow bands to experiment in an environment that will let them survive. Shit like Da'vidノ使徒:aL, CODOMO A and Missalina Rei would probably fizzle out and die over night if they tried to play as a non visual band.

I simply do not understand people who claim they love MEJIBRAY for the vocals. That is mainly because in my ears the vocalist sounds awful. I know there are two kinds of awful, as in "I don't like the sound of his voice or the way he uses it but technically he can still sing" and then there's the "there are so many things wrong technically that it just sounds like shit" option. For me, MEJIBRAY's vocalist falls in the second category. His screams are awful, his regular vocals are weak and usually can't carry the music and he's out of tune about 99% of the time. Like I said, I'm probably going to get some angry replies to this but this is MY OPINION. I'm not stating it as fact, nor am I trying to shit on your favourite vocalist/band. I just can't listen to him.
 
also guys hating on Gazette is so 2007. Idk I'm not even a Gazette fan but I feel like quite some people hate on Gazette because it's popular to hate (while actually listening to tons of indie versions of Gazette themselves, GOTTA RAISE MY INDIE-CRED).

Some of us like to support our favourite artists by purchasing their releases. Especially since these bands aren't living it up like some multi-millionaire rock star, y'know like working shitty day jobs to support themselves and the band. People complain that it's so unfair bands sell things like 500 yen chekis or live limited releases when it's the best way for them to get anything back. A lot of venues are pay to play venues and they're lucky to even break even half the time.

Well DIE KUSSE it isn't just because there's female vocals. The rift, the song structure, the R&B hiphop opening and just the whole thing is basically pulling a Grieva. DIE KUSSE is the most obvious but other similarities lie with songs like Worms and My Devil on my Bed. I know the dude likes Ruki and is inspired by them which is cool, everyone is inspired by something or someone. Yet when people deny they don't "borrow" heavily from Gazette must be in denial, it's like Grieva fans denying Grieva and their redo of every Gauze era song ever.

Yet I know I'll like it but I'm also looking forward to Kamijo's solo. I agree with your sentiments towards him and his performance in Versailles. I  mean in some songs he was fine but he really brought down their music and just didn't fit with the kinda music Versailles performed. I think his solo material will be great, especially since he's teaming up with fellow Frenchaphile vampire Mana, it'll definitely be something cool.
 
Which leaves HIZAKI and Teru to go off and do all the cool things I love about them.
