Yesyesyesyesyes~ Number one, for ever and for always, Anneke van Giersbergen: E1oivrKIr-k I've been smitten with her voice since I listened to the song Morphia's Waltz by The Gathering a decade ago. I was devastated when she left the band, but delighted to discover that shortly after leaving she went "solo." She has a voice that is suited to all genres, that is versatile, that commands attention and is equal parts powerful and understated. I can't contain my excitement when I babble about her, she is so magical. Here is a live cover of the infamous "Jolene" with Anathema's own Danny Cavanagh. And which I feel highlights her ability exceptionally.& Marcela Bovio (of experimental rock outfit , symphonic metal band & neofolk/darkwave ). She has a typical "Spanish" voice. It's sultry, seductive and theatrical in Stream of Passion and ethereal and exotic in Elfonía and ?on. I recommend listening to either of those first. Ihriel (of experimental/black metal band & solo project , wife of Ihsahn) Her voice is out of this world, I can't describe it. It's an acquired taste. Sometimes it is heavenly, sometimes is downright unpleasant to listen to, but... I love it. Astrid van der Veen (solo, & ) So, so underrated. Especially her solo material. And for such a young girl, she has such an intense voice. It gives me chills. She has a lot of talent and she should have more fans, bless her. Silje Wergeland (now in The Gathering, once in doom/gothic metal band ) She gets a lot of stick since she had big shoes to fill. Initially I wasn't going to listen to new music by The Gathering, but she does the band justice and is an excellent replacement for Anneke. She fits them perfectly. She has a lovely voice that is sort of soothing to the ear. Julie Christmas (of noise-rock & the short-lived sludge/post-metal Battle of Mice) A sheer, raw, powerful voice completely drenched in emotion that rips into your skin and stays there like some kind of disgusting parasite you learn to love and live with symbiotically. Others outside of the realm of metal and rock: (!!!!!) Tori Amos - A Sorta Fairytale Clare Maguire - Ain't Nobody (!!!!) Woo, this could have been so much longer (_ _) I love Siouxsie Sioux and Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac), too, but they're not exactly "favourite" status. Ji-In Cho (Krypteria), Magali Luyten (Virus IV), Dominique Persi (Stolen Babies) and the girl on Devin Townsend Project's "Ki" album. I don't know her name, though.

Oh, a boasting thread! I'm especially proud of my D'espairsRay collection. It's kept in multiple silver boxes, most of it still in its original wrapping, so nothing gets damaged. I own basically everything they've released with the exception of a couple of VHS tapes, a demotape, and the regular edition of GEMINI, which is proving to be more elusive than decade old limited edition singles were! The D'espairsRay release I'm most proud of is either the RAZOR demotape, which cost a fortune, the limited edition of the 10th Anniversary live with the photobook and t-shirt, or the limited edition of murder day. Another thing I'm proud of, despite the shittiness of the music itself, is managing to buy Dieur Mind's demotape, Blue, from mbok for a little under 9,000 yen with Christmas money two years ago. I have never seen it show up since and at the time I was torn between it or a second hand alice auaa jacket from Closet Child. And my merry go round CDs. I don't own their discography (only about 8 releases) and they're not exactly difficult to find at auction, I just really like them. Although when my sister was drunk she spilt cider all over one of them. |D That's when I decided to start keeping everything in boxes out of harm's way. I'm proud of most of my Ayreon CDs, too, because they're all limited edition and my copy of Katatonia's Last Fair Deal Gone Down was signed by the band, so that's dear to me too.

Elbowed in the face at The Prodigy and had a black eye for about three weeks. That was probably Herpes too. Groped by some 30-40 year old man with a thick, disgusting beard when I went to see Opeth, he wouldn't leave me alone all night and I couldn't concentrate on the band because I had to keep coming up with ways to escape him. Then there was meeting The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. They just stink. I mean seriously. Like they've never heard of a shower. And my friend dragged me along to a Bring Me The Horizon Gig. That was the worst live experience of my life, they were absolutely terrible and all of them were extremely rude. OH. And the studs! I only went to the live because I thought it'd be my only chance to see aie in person, since I never did when deadman was active. Fans were rude, fights were had, all in all the crowd was awful.
  13. SUBLIMINAL

I planned to but it hasn't been updated since the beginning of March due to inactivity, so I had to resort to copy-pasting. @Champ ThanatoSchizO look pretty interesting, I might try them! Do you have anything to recommend?
  14. SUBLIMINAL

We had one of these before that was quite active and I don't think there's one here yet, so I'm bringing it back! Copy paste your top artists / plays of the past seven days from last.fm and flail about a new obsession, boast, hate, love, add people with similar tastes, discuss, yadayada. 1. Clare Maguire (288 plays) 2. 宇多田ヒカル (88 plays) 3. Katatonia (85 plays) 4. D'espairsRay (63 plays) 5. Devin Townsend Project (40 plays) 6. Marina & the Diamonds (39 plays) 7. Dessa (17 plays) 8. Pain of Salvation (14 plays) 9. Agalloch (6 plays) I have basically listened to Clare Maguire nonstop for the past couple of days. Her album came out late February and it's truly fantastic.

This is the standard for more than just VK-fans. Fuck wearing ugly shoes because they're comfortable. I deliberately torture my feet for pretty shoes. Doesn't mean I listen to bands because the members are attractive or spend hundreds of pounds on TVs that aren't excellent quality. But I am willing to blow money on pretty shoes. I love pretty shoes.
  16. SUBLIMINAL

I don't know whether I would call lloy VK. They completely dissociate from the label... Anyway, I can't think of many that haven't already been posted, but... would マモノ count or...?
  17. SUBLIMINAL

I'm not either, but I'm willing to do it for this cause. I will bitch slap anyone who posts it at blogspot.
  18. Random but I'm really into Baroness lately.
  19. SUBLIMINAL

It wasn't Leda? No, it doesn't :/ They couldn't just kick the replacement out because Leda decides continuing with DELUHI is pointless. Like Chianti said, it would be better if he made a friendly rival band for Galneryus. Or just a new band in general.
  20. SUBLIMINAL

I BET DELUHI WAS A THREE YEAR LONG APRIL FOOL'S JOKE
  21. SUBLIMINAL

Even though I didn't like their new music, fucking this. Also lol @ everyone saying Galneryus should take him back. Fuck that, he left them for VK.
  22. SUBLIMINAL

Clare Maguire – Happiest Pretenders On repeat for the rest of my life.
  23. This. And the description sounds especially interesting, right up my alley.
  24. SUBLIMINAL

Would a VK band actually joke about this?
