Observations (as a review is not meant to be completely opinion): 01 狂骨の鳴り: The violin here is amazingly thought out and contrasts with the guitar very well. My main issue is that Diru’s intros rarely meld into the first track, and it loses impact over those few seconds (sue me if you think otherwise). 02 THE BLOSSOMING BEELZEBUB: Not deathcore. This is basically a fusion between progressive, death, metalcore and sludge, which means it is very sloooow but not exactly a breakdown. Riff at about 2:50-ish is awesome. If the violins were used more often during heavy bits this album would have been intense*. Due to lack of chorus or verse, it feels more like a journey than a song. Kyo’s goin’ mayud. Oh yeah, I was writing a “review”. Love the drum and bass at the end, but why didn’t they tack that to the start of Different Sense? xD 03 DIFFERENT SENSE: Excellent contrast between the deathcore-influenced verses and the soft sections. A little bit of everything they’ve done before. The chorus is a real breather after the verses. 04 AMON: At the start of this song, I get that “I can’t be fucked” vibe, but when the “chorus” finally kicks in I remember this song is not shit and that’s just me being over the sludge by this track. The bass is amazing. 05「欲巣にDREAMBOX」あるいは成熟の理念と冷たい雨: The bass and chuggy riff is very MOAB but a lot more interesting. As usual, they like tricking the listener with multiple section switches. That is a good breakdown around the 2 minute mark. Vocal freakout is nice. 06 獣慾: I don’t hear any BMTH in this, maybe because this is actually interesting. It has a lot more thrash/metalcore influence, but Kyo’s still doing his weird vocal tricks. You guys need to stop listening to metalcore and accept Dir en grey absorbs bits of whatever’s in the spotlight. 07 滴る朦朧: The most Uroboros-sy one so far, clean vocals are effective. Chanting is awesome xD Ooo-awwh. 08 LOTUS: Oh, hello. This song sounds so much better here than it did on the fail-single, but what the hell happened to it being the “softest” on the album? Vanitas is definitely softer. Awesome chorus, strange intro, peaceful verses, abrupt finish. Left feeling “oh yeah”. 09 DIABOLOS: Here is where the album starts to pick up. I wouldn’t have minded if this took up the first slot instead of Beelzebub, but here works too. Another journey-type song, and the time passes very quickly when you just sit down to listen. Great solo(s) there, and that simple riff underneath has a great build up. I’m really enjoying the oriental piano and synths at around 5 minutes and at 9:20ish.* 10 暁: The new Nariseba? The bass shines here. Kyo’s doin’ his falsettos and it’s entertaining xD Some hard rock fills like 2:28ish. The distorted solo is interesting, and sets this song a recogniseable feature. 11 DECAYED CROW: No, this has to be the new Nariseba. Strange time signatures, a blast verse, Kyo’s developed gutturals-with-pursed-lips, weird panning throughout. Some cool chanting in there too. This is where I notice the guitar playing is very tight, both guys are playing almost perfectly together. I’ve lost the bass, apart from a few funky bends. 12 激しさと、この胸の中で絡み付いた灼熱の闇: My god that riff did not translate well with the new guitars/mixing. Either than means the song needs some more notes in that riff, or the guy who mixed the single obscured the guitars that much, and changed the entire riff himself. The bass sounds a lot better, no more stupid panning on some of the screams, vocals sound much more mixed and reverb-y. I feel it lost a lot of impact where it had impact before, and the intro sounds like a very off cover. Shame. 2:40-ish riff isn’t as breathtakingly suffocating as the old mix. 13 VANITAS: Quite sure this is softer than LOTUS. Amazing buildup. I enjoyed it too much that I forgot I was writing a “review” again. 14 流転の塔: This comes off as an impressive summary of everything the album covered, with an amazingly heavy and epic riff+vocal combo at 1:30, and a catchy as chorus. This song is definitely the highlight, very Uroboros-on-crack-ish. And to finish it off, I won’t review the bonus tracks as part of the album, since I can’t afford the version that has them on it, if I understand the editions. The Amon-Symphonic version is impressive though* and I wish they’d used that version instead of the other one. I kinda miss the more structurised layout of the Uroboros tracks, but since the band admitted this album was done without concept and flow in mind, I guess it’s pretty acceptable in its chaotic feel. Certainly comes off as Uroboros’ evil cousin. Not as good, but only because it hasn’t had as much time to sink in. I’m sure that’s the point, anyway. Definitely in the top, though, even though it's confusing and broad. For 17 bucks it’s well worth a purchase from me. Wish I had enough to get the whole thing though, but 170-200 is extravagant for any band. Actually, looking it up, apparently the digipak version has the bonus tracks. I hate digipaks. I may end up sticking with the CD jewel case version. I’ll think it over until release-day. * I can definitely see them doing a symphonic metal album next.

If I rate it properly, I'm scared Zeus will come down from the heavens and destroy me and all my relatives past and future.

Holy fuck from every norse God, Diabolos is worth paying the whole price of the CD for. I am going to buy the living daylights out of this album.

Literally this album so far is giving me that feeling of complete shock, like someone's trying to kill you and succeeding but rather than being scared of dying, you're scared of the thought someone's trying to kill you, and you're considering how unlikely such a scenario is, because nobody's really tried to kill you and succeeded before. And, to top it off, it comes with that sense of incredulousness that comes with the realisation that you quite like it, and people should try to kill you and succeed more often. So I can't decide whether I love it, hate it, worship it, or want to vomit on it. This is the strangest position I have ever been in, and I'm only halfway through. ?/10.

No, I disliked it at first but now I can't get enough of that last build up, and the ending riff is beautiful. PV is the best/craziest one they've done since Saku.

Fable in the Cold Bed - Okay, so this is basically HEART with different stuff? It's good, but it's a single, so I'm expecting the next album to be better. Awkward transitions that Nega seems to think they can solve with a reversed WHOOSH noise, horrible sounding drums, but it's an okay song, just nothing special. Vortical [E]motion - more or less what Perestroika set out to do. Perestroika is quite obviously completely useless and may have well been another Nega release period. It's good, more interesting than Fable, sad it probably won't be on an album. Born - this is a recording, Dir en grey. A successful one. The structure is much better, the riffs are harder, and the old vocal melodies show what current Nega has been lacking. Is it just me, or have they toned down the triggers for this remake? Ravait Red - fucking excellent. The original song kinda lacked, seeing as it was their second or third song written ever, but this version feels full and complete. Enjoyed it thoroughly - another good remake. lover - this has to be the third time they've done this song, but it's still as good as before. Nothing else to say really, a decent remake which isn't amazing but is certainly no less impact-y than the original. That Song From TFFOAJS I can't remember the name of - another interesting redo, throws me off a little bit vocally, but another good conversion. It feels a bit more coherent, and the guitar work is solid, good job San. Nightmare - This is the shit. The start reminds me slightly of Korn's Blind's intro, but where the original Nightmare sounded like an intro, this one feels a bit more like a song. Very heavy, will sound great live I hope. That Song From RUTC I can't remember the name of - an excellent song, which I can never remember after I've heard it xD The keyboards are much darker than before, and the playing is tighter. Basically like lover - not a major reconstruction job, but still no worse than the original. Again, triggers calm down? Basically the new tracks are exactly what Perestroika did, so that hiatus seems like an absolute money chasing bleh. The remakes didn't disappoint me, as an oldschool fan with their entire disco to date on my own little Nega CD rack. I'll happily buy B and C to get these remakes, but not too interested in TWILIGHTFAHNZ PV. 7/10.

I'm looking forward to it now, that the direction looks a lot more imaginative than Hageshisatoetc suggested. Vanitas cheered me up - hopefully there is more singing and segments like that on other parts of songs that the teasers don't reveal. I'm getting the feeling that rather than having different songs with different styles, each song is a bit like a mishmash of everything Uroboros had. Possibly lots of Vinushka's on the horizon.

Already? HELL YES.

We can say it, because it's the same drum sound they've used since Chaos. It only sounds good on a stereo with the right EQ settings, on headphones it's horribl. True it is worse on youtube, but if it sounds like this, which is identical to Perestroika and everything else since 2008, it'll sound just as bad. Still clicky, and we have every right to say this, because it's true. Look up Haunted Jealousy or Heartz on youtube, it's just as bad as that sample.

Well, this deterrmines that Hageshisato is a once off type of song. So I guess the rest of the album will be intricate. I'm cool with that. Their progressive compositions are much more interesting than standalone metal singles. Though I'd prefer a Glass Skin type single to deathcore influenced metalcore, if we have to have any. Let's hope the rest of the songs have more melody throughout, rather than isolated in the choruses like they're trying to be catchy. EDIT: yeah, my problem is that Hageshisato is obviously a song intended to be heard as a single, and I was judging the whole album to be exactly like that. Now that I think about it, only LOTUS's structure is like that, so if the album is going to be experimental, it;'s not going to reflect the singles. Glass Skin is certainly not a summary of Uroboros. I forget not all bands are as blatantly predictable as Korn or Slipknot.

Drums have been horrible for ages, that was why I disliked Perestroika's mini. Thankfully, this song shows better songwriting. I may like it yet. I facepalmed at the vampire fangs though. Great to see they're still using the gimmicks. Sarcasm.

Holy orgasms, batman. I'm totally buying type b and c, because that makes all the songs off TFFOAJS rerecorded. Nightmare is one of my favourite Nega songs. Ravait Red needs to be released. I just wish they'd done the other track off Depression ): I'm meh about the new songs, but these bonus tracks are gonna make my life soooo much brighter.

1. Who gives a fuck about name change or tags. If you truly couldn't give a shit, what the weeaboos do shouldn't bother you. If it does, then you DO care. 2. Perestroika is a joke. 3. They better have gotten over their overly loud drum mix and crappy hardcore sound. 4. They can never go back to their first EP sound, because SAN is the current guitar composer, not Ray or Hiroki. 5. You should all tell me the bands you love the most so I can be as spiteful as you're all being and wish for them to disband with every fibre in my body. Particularly you, Erin. I want to return the favour. 6. Bring on a new single.

I would appreciate it if people didn't go with the whole "everything heavy and droptuned is nu metal" mexican wave. As an example, Gregory is a hardcore metal band influenced by Hatebreed much, much more than they are groove hip hop metal influenced by Korn. Apart from that, agree with ^ They (GazettE) need to surprise us, otherwise our expectations will remain low. Wait and see, don't get your hopes up in case it is disappointing.
-
Hope they don't rip off more Girugamesh. Compare their mini intro with Girugamesh's intro for NOW.
-
Thanks, Maximum dicks. When i download this and don't pay for it, you'll only owe me 70 more dollars. Thanks for ditching soundwave cuz you can't hire a temp drummer for a major tour. Revenge aside, I don't have much expectation for the single as always, so it might be enjoyable. I bet I forget about it until a week after release though xD
-
The whole song is composed off other songs, it's a big patchwork of Dimmu and Cradle of Filth riffs copied note from note. As good as it is, the whole thing is just really... low. This coming from a person who owns the single. I want them to come back, just not to steal again, because they're good enough to be able to write music without stealing, unlike VAJRA. They're also much more to my taste than Malice Mizer.
-
I'm not gonna complain about a name of three letters cuz it's stupider than the name itself, so I'll just say looking forward to hearing an essential new band with the old singer.
-
I hate them for Amentia, being a Cradle and Dimmu fan, but for some reason I own most of their releases in physical CD... so I guess I like their music They're just sad people. Dunno if it's worth buying Grief, cuz I have nearly everything on it.
-
I bet they consulted a psychic who told them what they needed to do to plagiarise something that will be released later this month.
-
Apart from the Jin comment (because i've never heard anything wrong with his voice) I greatly respect the logic behind this comment^ I love Nega, but this band is a whole pile of wut. They need to choose one and focus - and by one, I mean they should choose the one they started with like any normal band.
-
YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME, RIPPING OFF DIR EN GREY DIDN'T MAKE THEM UBER MUNNIZ?!1 Good riddance. Go and learn to compose properly.
-
Okay, let's clear things up. Perestroika is not a side-project, it is another band, remember, cuz UCP claims they're a "new" band and not Nega at all. Going on hiatus to start a band that sounds nearly identical to the previous band, just to say you're a new band, is a really stupid thing to do. I'm trying to avoid "moneymaking scheme" here because I still love Nega. The hiatus would have made sense if it was to take a break and focus on writing better material, instead they waste it by doing this elaborately redundant low-attention-span option, which I refuse to pay for, only to do a "comeback" special as Nega when it all fails. In addition, I don't think anyone (other than the usual Nega-haters) would have complained if this had turned out to be a Nega release, because it sounds exactly the same. Just sayin'. Also don't be that excited, they're not new songs or anything, just comment discs and misc stuff from a while ago. I'm more concerned with getting that disc with Rain Falls unplugged tbh XD
-
that's what I call support musicians… I have every single Nega release except the live dists and the demos. I even have things this forum doesn't have uploaded. I'm not supporting someone's short attention span - it's like Korn breaking up and then making an identical band called Kron, or Dir en grey changing their name to Der eg Nriy.
-
If Nega disbands, I propose a boycott of Perestroika's music. It's good, but it's not Nega, and this band is Nega.
