As a former vkei blog updater (which is actually how I met Sai ) , I reuploaded everything 85% of the time. At one point, I stopped because I wanted more traffic and to seem like a ~visual-cool~ contributer, but that was a very shortlived phase. When uploading a discography, I even took the time to write a description of the band and what kind of music they made to get people more interested in trying them out instead of blinding posting everything I found.
 
From what I've seen, I was a pretty rare case. Today, very few people really write much about what they're sharing (assuming it's something they like. When I uploaded new, popular stuff that I didn't care about whatsoever [like ViViD at the time], I wouldn't give a description) and fewer people upload things themselves. This leads to dozens of blogs with dead links for the same thing and makes things that should be really easy to come across impossible to find. At least Jrockvisualkei dot com (I think that's their name) took the time to reupload everything to several different hosting sites.
 
I'm not saying people should always write a synopsis of what they're uploading, but it certainly does help get me interested and it shows that you're passionate about this release instead of just sharing to share. I am saying that blogs should at least upload everything to their own direct download sites in addition to copying and pasting someone else's links so we don't have the same dead link all over the place.
 
UNRELATED BUT THIS SHIT NEEDS TO STOP
 
Uploading singles / demos from older discographies and filling in the tracks with album versions. This warps history and is completely wrong. I used to do it as a shortcut myself, but then I realized what it was doing. It's better to say "track missing" or not even mention that this demo or single was released on your post if you don't have the real version. I cannot tell you how it pisses me off when I like the way a song sounds in a music video, but when I download it the uploader put the album version (which is usually stripped of some sort of intro or remastered in some way unless you're on UCP) instead. Latest example (from like a year ago, huehue) was Dir en Gray's "Myaku." I don't believe the single I got even had the B-sides, and the title track even had Macabre tags. Really?

ryo (ex-9GOATS BLACK OUT, HOLLOWGRAM) has started a "collaboration unit" called TAG with 横山和俊 (Kazutoshi Yokoyama), a music producer/maker that has worked with BUCK-TICK, aki, and Angelo.

"Old-school/90's VK wasn't really much better" With so many people parading around old-school superiority, I'd say I'm in the minority with this opinion. As someone who has been in VK for ~10 years and collects tons of old-school stuff, I can certainly say without a bit of doubt that there were a TON of really shitty bands back then. Anyone who would say otherwise is looking through some pretty rose-tinted glasses. That being said, I certainly do miss some of sub-scenes in VK that no longer exist(soft visual/white-kei/proto-oshare) and don't exactly like all of the "sounds" that bands tend to get grouped into nowadays, but I definitely can't say that one era was better or worse than the other as they all have their ups and downs.

I'm determined to spark a shitstorm with my opinions sooner or later.

Sexism at it's finest, really. BABYMETAL has succeeded at doing what the visual kei scene has failed at repeatedly - juxtaposing music and appearance in such a way as to confuse the listener. It's unorthodox, it's original, it's exactly the same reason why plenty of people say they listen to visual kei...and yet they get lambasted for it over and over and over again.
 
BABYMETAL plays the same kind of music that's popular within the visual kei scene, which is deathcore mixed with pop hooks and a ton of electronic influence. I would expect the same people that like those kinds of bands to at least tolerate their existence, if not enjoy them as something familiar yet different. But once again the hivemind takes over. Since one person decided they didn't like it, everyone else hops on the bandwagon without listening for themselves.
 
Inevitably, I come across someone that says that they don't like their style of music, yet has in their collection plenty of bands that use the same formula. Oops. 

True facts right here, if Black Gene For The Next Scene or REALies covered メギツネ (which sounds exactly like what they've tried to do and have failed at for the last forever and a half), I would bet my bottom dollar nothing but praise would be lobbed at those bands for getting back in shape, improving their squeals and writing actual riffs. 

Disclaimer:  BABYMETAL isn't the greatest band to squeal into a breakdown or three. They just get a lot more hate than they deserve because people care too much about what other people think of their music taste and in the visual kei world it's easy to hate "pop music" or anything associated with it.
 

I think the world has enough hide tribute albums to last us until Hell freezes over.

I've been hit with a wave of nostalgia and have been listening to a lot of Malice Mizer lately.

Rule number one: Do not sing in Japanese.
 
Rule number two: Do not try and be ~Visual Kei~
 
I think the biggest thing that leads to failure with all these bands is trying to be ~Visual Kei~ instead of just being a band.
 
There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration from VK bands but trying to be one just doesn't work. Also jesus learn how to dress too! Know you're body type and know what will work with that body type. If you're a chubby dark skinned man then the VK style isn't going to work for you, it's for skinny little Asian boys. You're better off putting together an outfit that compliments your body type, you can take inspiration from VK bands. There's plenty of cool ideas that you can put together but wearing little booty shorts with your thunder thighs is going to make people puke. 
 
Also make ROMANTICA Japanese and kote kei VKKK stans would love them.
