Exactly. And when promoters are looking to at least breakeven or even make a profit from the gigs they put on, that's a pretty hefty amount to blow, especially considering DIMLIM aren't huge overseas and probably wont attract anywhere near enough people to get close to breaking even. Bands like Dir and the Gazette, yes, as they sell out alot of their shows in Europe at reasonably large venues, but sorry to say, I don't think overseas DIMLIM would sell out a venue of around 100-200 people capacity (a decent sized pub gig, haha), so doesn't seem realistic. But if someone wants to take the gamble then all power to them and wish them success.

Yeah that's fair enough but I would highly recommend it, I do like Unleash but personally I like the old stuff way more and they have some really good songs. Dunno if you would do it based on curiosity but their two disc "best of" album is a really good starting point (was where I started with them) so maybe check that out as they have a lot of songs that are in my opinion better than the songs they have videos for on YouTube, not that any of those songs are bad mind you, suppose at least that gives you a good idea what to expect from their overall sound.

Fair enough, that makes sense when you put the two things together. Not looking good for these fellas atm, what with the drama with the guitarists and now this, guess they're going to need ANOTHER new guitar player, if they continue as a band at all. I do like the new EP, but doesn't really sound like the same band without Cazqui.

Yeah exactly, and some of these people are probably working jobs and can't get time off to travel halfway across the country (time off work is a little taboo in Japan for what I can gather) just to get to that specific show just to get a CD. Like I understand why bands do it, but at the same time don't think it's the best marketing strategy, why do you think "live only" releases are basically un-heard of in all other countries and styles of music? If they do tend to exist they aren't like an essential part to a bands discography with completely exclusive songs. Hell, even when Dir came to Europe and had the "live only" Ningen wo Kaburu exclusive single with the "bonus song" all it was, was a live track which was on the 4 disc version of the "Arche - live at budokan" set. lol. So fans weren't missing out on a completely exclusive track or anything.

Probably right tbh, well said.

Haha this thread is gold. I'm with the guy/girl who said they're happy they stay away from the fandom and just happy enjoying the music and not getting involved in all the weird drama. Only thing I really would say is a lot of V Kei fans in general I've seen at live shows in Japan and overseas seem pretty weird and immature (everyone here seems pretty safe though, so not firing any shots at anyone) like they just turn 10/15 younger and start acting like over-excited hyper babies and it's really pathetic to see. Always nice to see people having a good time, but they're so OTT it's properly cringey. For example, at one Dir show I was standing behind a girl who appeared to be on her own, she was quite short and I'm quite tall so just happened to notice what she was writing on her phone as she was texting a friend. Conversation starts off fairly normal "just got to the gig, am at the front woop, woop" that kind of thing, "I bought a load of merch woop woop" also pretty normal, (here i'll add she's clearly not an experienced gig go-er as she brings her massive ass backpack and puts it on the floor in front of her at the front of a show.... (got to be kidding right? Nope, haha) and anyway, things start getting weird when I then notice a message as obviously I wasn't watching everything she was writing as got talking to some people around, "How do I confess my love to Kaoru from the second row of the audience?" and then kept bad mouthing his wife saying she's a "gremlin" and that Kaoru should be with her instead, keeping in mind she was also very young, no older than 18 I'm sure..... But even still, a lot of V Kei fans seem this obsessed and it's so cringe it almost hurts. haha. I've been involved in music for around 20 years and mixed with all kinds of audiences and played in loads of bands of varying styles etc and ONLY seen this ridiculous behaviour at V Kei shows. Obviously the odd weirdo will appear anywhere so not saying all other genres you don't get weirdos but yeah, V Kei has a pretty creepy fanbase. lol.

Never thought about this considering I don't play in a V Kei band and think it's a little lame to give myself a "V Kei" nickname but would probably just go with what my Japanese friends call me in real life, so basically my actual name in Japanese pronunciation. haha. That, or I could use the alias from my actual band and "Japanise" it, so it'd probably be "Za repa-". haha.

What is going on with these guys at the moment? Sorry if I'm late to the party but have been working flat out, then had no internet for a while but read a couple of interesting things about these guys recently. Firstly read something about them cancelling some shows? Then that Lin was arrested? Are these legit? If so anyone got any more details, I've had literally no time to look into these things myself, hence the lacking activity on here. But am lurking about once in a while. 😛

Yeah those interludes probably could've been dropped without any interference to the flow of the album. I skip them every time. haha

I actually really liked Baku, something about the overall composition and atmosphere just got me. I do like weird / disjointed stuff though so maybe that's why, but that said, even for me sometimes Nazare are a little TOO out there.... haha. They're definitely a band that take some getting used to. haha. I've slowly grown to enjoy most of their releases, but first listens are usually a bit like "wtf even was that all about?" haha. IDEAL was probably the most consistent release so far musically, had it's moments but overall wasn't half as weird as some of their previous stuff. Maybe that's why they decided to put that out non live only. haha.

Nice collection there! If only I could find most of these for sale ANYWHERE. haha.

I've always been a little confused how labels work in V Kei as a lot of bands do seem to just make up their own labels. haha. Like are they officially registered companies? Or is it just a name for distributors to identify the band to? It's pretty weird. I'm assuming a lot of bands are more or less 100% DIY as well and don't have a "proper label" getting everything sorted for them.

I have mates who put on metal shows, nobody massive or anything but have done some relatively large names in extreme metal, so would be amazing if this could happen. First problem, anyone have any idea how much it costs to fly a band and all their gear from Japan to their own country?? If I had the money to ship 5 + guys and all their gear over here for gigs I'd be in Japan all the time. haha. So yeah, probably not going to happen anytime soon. + Weird that they removed all their old videos from the YouTube channel, especially as Aharewata still is and probably always will be by far my favourite song of theirs and got me paying attention to them. Could be just that they feel their style has changed and those songs don't really represent their sound anymore. Or some Issei issues? But as far as I know he wasn't at all involved with the Silent Song? So probably not that. + + I understand how live limited releases work but I'm sure literally nobody likes the idea of live only releases, especially fans from overseas. Yes it's to support them at their shows because running a band really is difficult money wise and they're probably making next to nothing through the music (Trust me I know). And I'm also aware there are ways to get live limited releases without having to go to the shows, and have got a couple in the past but seriously when it's about £100 for a CD with like 3 tracks on it, you can't tell me that's not unreasonable? + Customs fees and all that you'll get charged on top of the actual CD price. I would love to support the band, I would 100% buy any CD DIMLIM put out if they did it through more mainstream means so it's easily accessible and at a reasonable price. Maybe if live limited versions came with exclusive artwork, chekis, dvds, posters, a t shirt, exclusive merch or anything else that'd be better, but when you miss out on the actual music which is the main thing when it comes to a band.... duhhh.... what do you expect people to do? lol. Of course they're going to download it if given the chance and I am 100% grateful to anyone who does upload live only releases so I can continue to enjoy the music by the bands I love.

Album is ok with me, I didn't hate it but like many of you guys, doesn't seem to be getting picked up for repeats too often.
-
It is possible to get hold of it as mentioned throughout some auction websites and second hand websites. It's actually available on closetchild right now but is extremely over-priced. But if one of you guys wants to snap it up and share it then I'm sure that will be very much appreciated by all. haha. I remember they did release one song from this single on LINE and it wasn't anything above what you'd expect from them so didn't inspire me to pay £50/£60 for a 3 song single. lol. https://www.closetchild-cd.jp/product-list?keyword=NAZARE&Submit=検索

+1 for a good mix of the entire single. lol.

Not going to lie, despite all the negative feedback from other people here I actually really like this album. But then again, I've been into "extreme metal" long before VK so maybe that's why. But there are a lot of nice riffs, some catchy rhythm changes and each song generally has some good twists going on in it that makes it standout a bit from the others. So yeah, generally I like it, have played it a fair few times since receiving it. So what I'm saying is, if you're in two minds about whether to get the album or not then get it and make your own mind up. ; )

This is pretty lame news for me as I don't use any digital platforms and ALWAYS buy the physicals if possible. Also lame because I have just recently got into this band, so for me feels like I've just discovered a band and they've disbanded immediately (As I wont be able to get any of their future stuff, unless some of you nice people post it here. :)))). haha.
-
This probably. That's what most bands do. I've never really understood why bands start doing "one mans" until they actually have enough material of their own band to perform as it's essentially like watching a covers band. haha. But spose if the fans are invested in the members and band as an entity then that's cool, seems to work anyway.
-
Haha what? Did I miss something? I do remember when he left there was very little info given for his departure, so maybe there was something that wanted to be kept more on the low-down. Bit bummed to hear about the guys leaving, but they coped perfectly fine with the lineup change before so have no doubt they'll be able to do the same again. Would be nice if the new guys could get involved with composing the music, may give them a new fresh twist as, despite being pretty diverse, Retsu's compositions are getting a little bit samey and a bit predictable. Fuck it, if they want I'll go join them as 2nd guitarist. 😛
-
Yeah, you just have to follow them on LINE. They usually post the videos for songs and stuff a little earlier on there before putting them on YouTube. + Be warned though, NAZARE update notifications are almost spam they pop up that often. haha
-
Oh wow, haha. Thought I was the only person who liked Immortalis and Vitium better than Adoratio. 😛 Not that Adoratio is bad but it's had far less repeat plays than the other two.
-
Yeah, especially when vkei artists always drastically transform their faces with makeup anyway...

Isn't it basically just an updated flyer for the shows we already know about? Noticed on the article it mentions one show is an "acoustic live" which sounds quite interesting!
