  1. Wow...i find it sad how the creator of sadie's thread on artists page was comparing them to deg which i think led and caused everybody to bitch about how sadie are copycats and now again this thread is created too with someone comparing them to deg...

Sadie's every video on YouTube has comments where people are arguing how they are copy cats or not... Heck whenever i see this bands name anywhere, there i find people hating and comparing them to deg... Just stop people,i find it toxic and sickening.

There should be a rule regarding creating a artist thread that should prohibit the creator from posting any other info other than members info musical style and stuff cuz the first post matters.

  2. ive prepared this playlist consisting of around 200 Japanese rock/visual kei/metal bands.

I doubt you'll find a playlist as diverse as this one if looking for japanese rock/visual kei/metal music.

leaving it here just so if anybody might be interested in it. ;/

Anyone got any good V-kei/J-rock bands/artists they recommend? I’m trying to find more bands/artists to listen to than just the more well-known ones (The Gazette, X Japan, Versailles, etc.) but I haven’t had much luck.

Would prefer the bands/artists to be active, but it’s no requirement.

    D.I.D.

And you can also check out this playlist-

Hello, everyone. I was looking for more Japanese bands like:

    Dir en grey

    GazettE

    kizu

    OZ

    lynch

There's a whole laundry list of other "heavy" v-kei bands I've listened to (Deathgaze, Girugamesh, Sadie, 12012, Mao's new band, MUCC, D'espairsRay, Rentrer En Soi, Nega, UnsraW, DIO, Nocturnal Bloodlust); but found most of them to be pretty lame with the exception of MUCC and RES.

    Thanks!

I'm looking for recommendations for Visual Kei bands that are dark and moody in the vein of the track 'Ominous' by The Gazette, preferably without screaming vocals. I'm really into anything with an oppressive, grim or bleak atmosphere. It's helpful if there's use of piano as well. Other similar tracks I've found are 'Until...' by Mejibray and '赤' by Dir En Grey.

I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning because it's not really Vkei, but there's an album by Phantasm + FES (Fictional band from the Steins;Gate/Chaos;Head franchise fronted by Sakakibara Yui) who have done some albums that really fit this tone too, if anyone needs an extra point of reference.

I know this is kind of a niche recommendation, but even if someone could recommend albums or songs it'd be great.

I would highly recommend you to delve into progressive metal.

A lot of progressive bands use beautiful clean vocals with haunting and atmospheric music.

Checkout the official Spotify progressive metal playlist. I'm so sure you won't be disappointed.

If you only want Japanese stuff then check out

    - the Novembers, and other shoegaze genre bands

    - sarigia

    - dimlim - though it has screaming but the atmosphere is there.

  6. As the title says.

I'm really interested in knowing how harsh vocals made their way into visual kei or just jmetal in general. Like which were the first vk and non vk bands to add harsh vocals like growling and screaming into their songs.

If there's already a thread like this then link me please.

    Thank you.

  7. hey does anybody here have any idea about what kind of public image does dir en grey have in japan?

i somehow stumbled upon this official advertisement video about diru's 28 single while randomly searching diru videos on YouTube....

im totally dumbstruck....this kinda ad dosnt suit deg at all lol or are they actually  so fking popular in japan that even little kids knows about them? which i dont find nice as some of their pv should never be seen by little kids like if i saw that obscure vid while i was 12 damn i would have some real scary nightmares....im talking about thier ero-goru stuff.

And if possible could anybody be kind enough to translate wtf are they saying in the vid?

  8. just discovered this all female old school metal band through Wikipedia and gotta say they have real catchy stuff.

Mutsumi "623" Fukuhara, née Takahashi — vocals

Keiko — guitar (later joined EX-Girl)

Shinobu Kawai — bass (many projects, include Tricomi)

Matsudaaahh!! — drums (in a band called Weeee?)

  9. ME! ME!

Though none of the OST that i like are japanese for example my fav movie soundtrack is of 'titanic' movie.

When i was a kid of around 10 i guess? for some reason that movie used to repeat a lot on tv at my place. Now whenever i hear the ost of titanic, all those childhood  memories fills me up with nostalgia...its a bittersweet experience. The sad feeling of realizing that, that great time has passed and will never come back but also the happy feeling that, that past was so good.mmmmm.....

Some of the songs have simple hooks, others are quite complex. The hooks are still there; they're just buried for those who take the time to find them.

However, music doesn't necessarily have to be catchy to be good.

Everyone has personal preference. Maybe this band just isn't for you.

If you don't like it, don't listen.

Well music for me is either catchy or just dull and boring. Anyway I'm gonna dig deeper cuz it's kyo for fucks sake, the voice of the only Japanese band i sincerely follow.

sukekiyo's not supposed to be catchy. You missed the point of the band.

Ya i think that's why they are called a experimental group.... They are like Music scientists creating prototypes which may or may not appeal to all :P

I’d ignore that account to be honest. This is the first time I’ve seen them not post a “what’s [insert band here]’s heaviest album?”

It's just that i use this site and account only for asking recommendations and like to keep my requests as straight forward as possible (plus my English is bad) and i don't see anything wrong in that cuz if there's something i want to ask i don't think i will be the only human that will ever have that question I'm sure my requests will come handy to others, anyway i come across a lot of bands daily so checking out each is a big task and if there's a place where i can meet the people who already follow the respective band that i want to checkout why would i not use this place? What's wrong in that?

And you know i follow dir en grey and if somebody asks for its best album or songs to get into this band, I will seriously feel awesome to help them out and recommend stuff but by seeing your post i don't think everyone feels like me when recommending stuff,so I'll try to slow down.

sukekiyo is definitely not the first band I'd go to if I want to listen to catchy tunes.

Well dir en grey sounds a lot catchy to me so i thought sukekiyo will too... My bad, though I'm gonna dig deeper, what if i somehow develops a taste to this non catchy stuff that would be cool.
