Might as well add to those talking points I noticed here that politicking has pretty much twisted our humane empathy and ability to socialize with pretty much everyone - the prime fuel for bigotry tbe. Politicking has been always dirty and corrupted everywhere, which merely questions whether it is sensible to bring up extremely partisan views anymore (horseshoe theory is no BS), and is the dialogue even likely at this point - if we seek to preserve the meaning of "dialogue". The war of slurs and provocations is getting a lot worse, standards are forgotten, common concerns are smokescreened (e.g. healthcare in my country) and everyone will hate each other...

Any bets on them playing Ash or Jealous -reverse- again at some point during this tour? The former is from 1998, yes, but I think that was their staple number back in 2000...
-
Also: Children - Six Ugly version - Why not the original one though? Would love to hear about Byou Shin 2012-like treatment of this one

Why is it that you still don't understand the purpose of stage names? What is wrong with "Kyo"?

TBQH the questionable frozen wasteland of a country where I live in at the moment considers any kind of cooking pastime for uni students to be an anomaly But yes, pretty much me disliking the subculture of "ready-to-eat" after years of campus bandwagoning motivated me to spend more time on cooking something ~healthier~ even after hours of working or exam studying. Imagine yourself consuming "mudflaps" (Finns will get this) daily...so now you get my point before reading the rest of this For instance, whenever I feel like spoiling myself after some specific days like e.g. finalized research at my work or finishing my exams at school, I just try my best in looking for decent priced shrimps, all the salady stuff and other decent-priced (read: not cheap unless you want to kill your innards with that processed ramen shite) ingredients to make some goreng with shrimp salad and occasionally throwing in some cheesy deep-fried broccoli to ensure I do not lose any bulk :V Results: stable 187 lbs (was 160-164 lbs half a year ago), decent bulk, no excessive pains and feeling much better! P.S. I am anything but rich - I had to make a lot of "sacrifices" to ensure that my budget remains stable for the sake of good eats and other useful stuff.

To be quite frank, twitter's conditions for what should be shadowbanned are downright D U M B in overall. Even if the idea itself is much older than Twitter (going back to those vBulletin heydays with "stealthbanning") - retarded concept nonetheless.

DOGMA pretty much shattered my hopes for this band being a bit easier on Ruki's dominant songwriting and a bit more focused on what Aoi and Uruha have to offer instead. Okay, post-DOGMA singles aside but I am still not convinced that miracles could happen anytime soon.

Not that I am attempting to necro another thread again, but I'd love to add more to my point w/ that Friedman video: It's a real shame that YT terminated one of those anime otaku accounts with tons of good theory/trivia stuff on how Japan espoused the waves of American/European influence and made into something of their own. I could retell the whole analysis he churned out but to put it bluntly, Japanese are not fixed on the idea of "how to start with what kind of chord if we play in this key" or rules set by the trends of our times. Even now you may hear that according to the folks outside of our circles our preferences are "all over the place" due to our twisted expectations of metal outfits and their sound. So, the prime instance of hypocrisy lies in the fact that while the most stanny ones are cherishing this microcosm of "everything" genre-wise thanks to Japanese perception of "boundaries", their personal takes on enjoying genres per se are heavily biased, further away from the actual picture: They will reject "roots music" of their personal "favorite genre" as defined by themselves inside the boundaries of their musical "microcosm". When you see them for instance, saying things like that "hey, I enjoy symphonic metal - I listen to Matenrou, Versailles and Galneryus!", don't buy immediately into the idea that they will warm to the "essentials" of the said genre. My personal experience was the main reason why I had to write all of this, since I had, and still have a bit of hard time in getting into "purist" variants of my favorite genres (western ones, since we are not touching trad music here). As we speak, that is also why I am trying so hard but almost in vain to lose the grip on Japanese music even for the hecking 2 months or so, just to understand the "roots music" concept without any prior expectations...my two cents though, not 100% related to what OP said, sorry

All of you guys pretending that ViViD never existed nor that their progress was way too fast for acts of such calibre... Lol. @Kiryu999NIL was their major debut album (with King records AFAIK, which technically makes Cassis their very first major debut)

Never rely on DEG fanbase and its standards when it comes to trying out anything outside of their usual post-Uroboros comfort zone. Sad to see denialist fans squirming and wriggling when cold truths are sounded out about how crucial it is for Dirs to get their creative shit together outside of DEG. Maybe it's not the "DEG quality" they are seeking, but should it be though? What is their preferred alternative? Now only if Toshiya decides to do solo, it could be kinda "palatable" too (the second guy in DEG who actually got a bit "easier" with his tastes), and that's where popcorns are definitely recommended
-
So who was the so-called "architect" of SFP's sound though? Yumi or the guy who's currently in Siraph? I am pretty damn sure the former has heavily influenced their sound on Prog-roid which might be the closest reference I could think of here. Quite promising nonetheless.
-
The PV concept is so simple yet Taiki, Minami and So still make it much more fun than anything else off this year tbqh They are progressing steadily and I am more than thrilled about this. Definitely the band with clear signs of evolution.

Edgy songwriting again, Kirito?
-
Is Pierrot just doing live comebacks or was this accompanied with some news about um, reunion releases like an album for instance?
-
Not sure exactly whether we really should talk about this so-called "gift" of vocalcraft since almost no one in VK, nor from the former VK circles (incl. Kyo) has been naturally gifted with good vocals. They had to undergo years of non-stop training and "live experience" in order to tailor something you'd call "the gift" of passable vocals. Die has a long way to go, yes, but that is not why he should stop singing. Dir has to reinvent themselves sooner or later, and Die's practices in DECAYS will be welcomed once this change becomes certain. Kyo cannot nor he will not do this shit alone, or the band shalt kaisan immediately without DT's damage control (unless Shinya signs his sayonaras earlier than expected).
-
So guitarists are never entitled to develop and put their vocal capabilities to the test outside of their axecraft? Frankly speaking DIr is in DIRE need of some additional vocalists (not, not backup - think of SOAD for instance), since I bet you that barely any self-respecting listener could take Kyo-like chanteuse struggling his way through studio-grown vox when played live (even those album-themed lives got rather tragic near the end per each DVD). Since decent clean vocals - i.e. anything but Kyo's murmuring - in Dir have been pushed down to a minimum, adding Die in as a legitimate 2nd vocalist would be defo captivating and "palatable" but not too "mainstream". Therefore, bashing Die here (= prospects for change) would mean doom for Dir and their papi DT once they realize their shtick is not being funded anymore...
-
Not exactly that is the issue, but rather the shtick plus his inability to come up with some sort of decent drumline here I mean, where is the "flow"? He still whacks his toms like a 6-year old kid discovering drums for the first time...
-
HUGELY disappointed @ Nanase getting some sort of late Pura throwaway, damn. I am pretty sure Koba and co. will acknowledge the fact they have been given a ripoff but it will turn out fine, just some changes here and there... PELICAN got one of the most forgettable Pura hits too... I guess I can give up on guessing anything related to tributes from now on, these choices are one hot mess lol (even Mucc one, never got into that b-side either)
-
Shinya seems to take it rather slow. Never forget the Dum Spiro drums...
-
Anyways, to compensate for falling for that trolling bait of a post: Kyo kinda impro-ing over this and gang vocals in this version would make it quite a pretty interesting track for DEG to revise (not BASILISK, sorry) PLC could easily make this a bit more happier than it is already Something tells me that MERRY may choose a track where Nero could do some of his Tetsu worshiping stuff, i.e. more drum time. But easily jazzable songs may do too. But yeah, especially the second embed I had there could be done easily by anyone out of that list - except for Acid Android ofc. Not sure about So... and Lullaby though. edit: Drop a few steps down to A# minor and you will have a more likely DEZERT half-ballad cover, but drums here might be too technically tough for Sora to pull off - have yet to see him pulling off some complex rhythmic lines...
-
Considering Kyo's affinity towards anything old skwl horror/mystery (see: sukekiyo's name origins), Zozo could actually be the same Zozo they talk about in Ouija circles (the poltergeist-like demon or something like that, ouija enthusiasts welp) That's just me though since it wouldn't be surprising if Kyo still sticks to "demonic references" just like in Dir... Speaking of songs, are some of those kanjis that Kyo uses in their titles rather ancient ones (much closer to Chinese hanzi, for that matter)? E.g. I would never be able to guess how the heck "Hidauta" was supposed to be romanized like that...in trad. Chinese someone could guess "folding song" but wtf lol.
-
Not trying to be the picky one here but this is not a band of "newbies" as we speak - each and every member had an extensive history of being in other acts behind them, including Kyo. So technically speaking evolution did happen there, but it's more about seeing individual efforts (e.g. who would know that Mika is such a good drummer IRL? He didn't do much in RES tbh. Or what about Yuchi, too) rather than experiencing Sukekiyo as um, "the whole band". So TL;DR, to explain my doubts: I still perceive them individually because I cannot take them as a "separate band" but more or less a "dream act" instead. I used to follow each and every member in Sukekiyo before (hence having different expectations), and I never tried to imply that Kyo SHOULD take this route because it would be the only right one. But you know, you cannot blame fans for being too wishful...

Or they could just go LUNA SEA/BUCK-TICK (remember those tribute lives they had, anniversary and stuff) and use D'ERLANGER members to fill those possible vacant spots for the time being or go cameo in their covers? We still have to wait until lynch. actually makes some sort of decision to go with another full-time bassist or without them this time.
