@nekkichi yea just guessing here based on that, I don't speak japanese well enough to know actual reactions to bands in Japan aside from subbed stuff so t'was kinda "ohh?" to me as I thought they were popular based on, uh, western internet (which doesn't always equal homeland Very Successful). But again lol shocked I am to know D'espairsRay only went major in 2011 (just found out they disbanded IN 2011 ?? Thats a lot.) bc they were very internet-relevant in early-mid 2000s (the fact that I wasn't In VK Fandom and remember the name says a lot.) and it's kinda how I feel about Sadie too, I think they lasted quite a bit (indeed they landed generic anime #178's ending and one of Togainu no Chi's 12 ending songs, of which even back in 2010 they were one of the few acts I had actually heard of so... typical kinda-successful late 2000s vk act?)

@nekkichi I remember that one interview with Miyavi where Gackt was like "Due le Quartz who lol?" and someone had to explain it was some smaller band and he overshadowed the vocalist. So yeah him going solo went well ... 

(No idea about the others though afaik Sadie was relevant for a while before disbanding?) 

No idea as I don't follow gossip closely but it felt to me like every band that's been relevant lately has been this, or at least those I "followed" somehow. They seem to be really going the "go celebrity or go salaryman" path after 5 years? (keep in mind I "went back" to vk in 2015 and just checked whatever was popular at the time.) I know Shounenki and Purple Stone had ~label issues~ (though Purple Stone didn't come back yet did they?) and Axkey was supposed to be temporary (?) and HOLYCLOCK had mom issues (???) but AFAIK Gigamous (they're "back" tho?) and Pentagon just went "this is worse than expected, bye lol". No idea what happened to Kuroyuri to Kage (or AvelCain or VRZEL but that I can guess.) as not my thing but I know they disbanded quickly too.
