Also this album seems to be mixed way hotter than the other Sukekiyo material. The loud volume makes the noisy stuff sound even more chaotic

Worst tracks on this thing are the first and last. They’re just these repetitive, meandering slogs that go nowhere. Certainly not how Adoratio was bookended. Giji Necromancer was a great opener, and Hakudaku sent the whole thing into the stratosphere

Didn’t Kyo have a hand in Sajou no Uta and Dreambox? I mean, credit where credit is due.

I still listen to Insulated World regularly. Takumi is basically the support guy. Does programming, probably plays the piano/synth parts. He’s also manipulating shit off to the side during DEG’s lives. He’s the true unofficial 6th member.
  5. Saishu

Why are we even comparing it to Insulated World?
  6. Saishu

Practically the entirety of sukekiyo’s catalog is prog
  7. Saishu

There’s one song on there that sounds like a lost 9GBO song, so I wonder if it’s Uta’s

Voting Yuchi and Mika as the best rhythm section currently in VK

Also should note that the second disc is pretty useless. It’s tracks you’ve already heard with extra vocals/instruments tacked on top, with the sound levels cranked up to ridiculous levels to accommodate the additional layers. I haven’t watched the blu-ray yet, but I imagine that’s mostly fine. Nice packaging though.

Any reason why you didn’t order directly from Galaxy Broad? Didn’t CDJapan slap a proxy fee on top of the order?

Right now I’d say there are like five tracks that are really good. Most of the others have cool elements, but ultimately don’t pan out. The first track sounds like if Giji Necromancer got stuck in the first half and never built into anything. My major gripe is that a lot of these songs just don’t sound like there’s a band playing. It’s layers of electronic noise and drum loops.

My first impressions are this is the worst thing Sukekiyo has done, and you can’t convince me this isn’t a bunch of shit they’ve been tossing to the side for the last five years. Also they have once again employed Tue Madsen to bring his economy pack of disinfectant wipes to the studio and just smear them all over the place.

I got my copy of Infinitum today
  14. No drummer? fuck off
  15. Saishu

Not really. They’re fairly standard prices. I paid more for the limited edition of Insulated World.
  16. Saishu

Exactly. We’re talking about a 3 disc edition here. It’s just like any other limited edition Japanese release. It’s going to cost more.
  17. Saishu

I’ve missed every solo Morrie show in NYC so far, so I can’t miss this. Especially since it’s only a couple hours on a train away.
  18. Saishu

Well, just be aware that you’re going to have to pay a proxy fee on top of everything else since the 3 disc version is exclusively sold on Sukekiyo’s store. It might be cheaper to get it from there (if it’s still available). I used to order from CDJapan all the time, but ever since they moved warehouses be found their services a little less reliable. Amazon Japan has been a better experience for me.
  19. Saishu

Production was fine up until Adoratio.

  21. Saishu

Seriously. No one could even come to an agreement on what the title meant.
  22. Saishu

Well okay! Though... listen... there’s only so much longer I’m going to be able to stomach beep beep guitar tapping phrases before it gets really old
  23. Saishu

It sounds distinctly Sukekiyo to me, and for me that mostly rests on the presence of Takumi and Mika. It’s easy to draw comparisons to DEG because the voice is so familiar, but the rest of the band has a completely different feel.
  24. Saishu

    Because... DEG doesn’t use piano...?
