I did a search before posting and found hits from a few years back but no details on the band, so I have no idea if there is a connection. Anyway, Mayu's (ex-Lipstick) cover band formally constituted itself under the name NEMOPHILA and describe themselves as a "superstar girls metal band" (スーパーガールズメタルバンド). The lineup is: Vocals: mayu (ex-Lipstick) Guitar: SAKI (Mary's Blood, WGGC) Guitar: 葉月(HAZUKI)(Disqualia) Bass: HARAGUCHI-SAN Drums: むらたたむ(murata-tamu) They made their debut at Metal Weekend 2019, featuring Loudness and Hammerfall at Zepp Divercity in Tokyo last week. I realize this is contrary to the nature of MH, but the visual of this band is rather plain. I'm used to seeing Saki in some kind of crazy outfit, now she's in a t-shirt and jeans. No word on how permanent/full time this is, but Saki said she isn't leaving Mary's Blood. Her English is pretty good compared to her peers and she tweeted: "Of course i'll continue Mary's Blood. Pls don't worry about that!" Their twitter https://twitter.com/NEMOPHILA_band Saki's Instagram, with Nemophila post https://www.instagram.com/_chakixx_/

The name kinda locks them in. But I do think musically they have grown so much they don't need the gimmick any more.

They ditched the Ageha-Kei look around 2013 with the District Zero album and jesus did Yoshi look hot for that album. Toki plays a custom ESP while Yoshi, who seems to change guitars with every album, is using a Zemaitis. It looks like the same one Miku of Band-Maid plays. I doubt Marina will play drums in those boots, though.

Well the first five Aldious album titles started with D. Yoshi likes her alliteration. Re:no butchered more than a few Rami-era songs but R!N sounds capable of handling them. I'm hoping this means older songs return to the setlists. It reminds me of Nightwish. Anette couldn't do the Tarja-era songs to save her life. When I saw them, the set was entirely from the two albums they did with her. After she left and was replaced with the much more capable Floor Jansen, old songs began to return to the set list because she COULD do them properly. So the same may happen here.
  5. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Aldious has chosen R!n as their new vocalist. R!n had been sharing vocal duties on the band's 3 month Japan tour with Saki, formerly of Cyntia, where they alternated nights singing. But all the emphasis seemed to be on R!n despite the fact she had never been in a band before (she won some singing contest) and Saki was a veteran singer. Official news: https://aldious.net/contents/258597 New band photo. No one knows when this picture was taken, since Toki is pregnant but it could be she is hiding her bump with the guitar. R!n certainly could do the old material justice. Below is a clip of them doing "Spirit Black" and she came very close to Rami. Now let's see what the next album sounds like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15WUKBazz98&t=800

Not VK: Gacharic Spin, "Juicy Beats." I believe the late Armmy wrote this. My heart's in an uproar You manipulate my egotistic self In your arms, my body becomes light Dizzying weightlessness Tonight, I'm devoting myself to you I'll make you forgot your tears Now the bell's ringing resounds I'll make you wake up, come on In your head, the bell's ringing Shakin' your head Ring Ring Ring Make some noise!! If you can't sleep, enjoy yourself more EhO! EhO! It's fine if you're tied up, get high Wowow! Wanna do something bad? Dance dance dance dance, Take me on Forget your sadness, Dance dance dance dance, Satisfaction My heart's stirred up You control my masochistic self You're a parasite eating into me My body's heating up just by looking at you I remember that night Tonight too, steal me away Before you change your mind, I'm beat beat beating, I'll make you lose yourself I won't let you be bored, love is beat beat beating, Change your heart Beat beat beat Change my heart!! I want to be filled up, cry out more EhO! EhO! It's fine if you can't be patient, fulfill this need Wowow! Wanna do something forbidden? Dance dance dance dance, All night long Forget your sadness, Dance dance dance dance, Satisfaction If you can't sleep, enjoy yourself more EhO! EhO! It's fine if you're tied up, get high Wowow! Start with this feeling, Dance dance dance dance, Take me on Love is surely boundless, Dance dance dance dance, Satisfaction https://lyricstranslate.com/en/juicy-beats-juicy-beats.html

I'm curious if anyone knows how international touring for Japanese acts works. Lovebites recently spent 3 weeks in Europe and it turned into a long vacation with a few concert dates. They played Download in England, went to Belgium and played Grasspop a week later, then to Lisbon where they played a week later. For the girls, it was a three week European vacation interrupted by one gig a week, and in the case of Grasspop, a four song set. You would think that they would play spot gigs, even if it is to 300-400 fans, in between the festival dates. I can't see how in any circumstance the band and label made any money. Can someone explain the logic here?

Not VK but there must be something seriously wrong with Destrose/Fate Gear leader Mina. Destrose went through more than 20 members in under 10 years. Four bands with multiple ex-members were spun off because the whole lineup quit (Mardellas, Disqualia, Mary's Blood, Lovebites). And Fate Gear has seen turnover. She must be a colossal bitch.
  10. Toki's replacement is Narumi, formerly of Disqualia and Rami's solo project.
  11. And on the flip side, Sawa played in Galmet, a melodeath band similar to Arch Enemy, and Yoshi was in an Arch Enemy tribute band. Aruto was in a power metal band before Aldious, I forget the name, but it never went anywhere.

    You must be new here.

They get shit on around here almost as much as Yoshiki. Almost.

I don't adore then but I do like exist trace and feel like the only one here who does.
  15. Actually nao popped out like 3 kids. MTH's output this decade was severely curtailed because of it. Now they are on Warner after leaving VAP but things are held up because Daisuke had major neck surgery. Also, Nao is a little more tightly connected to MTH since Ryo the guitarist is her younger brother. Aldious is Yoshi's show. Oh, and if Saki (Cyntia) gets the singer gig, I wouldn't be surprised if they bring Yui along now that she has recovered and do Cyntia songs as part of the set.
  16. In case you forgot, they are soldiering on with a temp singer as it is. Re:No has not been replaced and the tour has two singers, Saki from Cyntia and a new girl named Rin, alternating from show to show. So now they are going to continue on with two temps. Interesting tidbit from the blogs is that Toki was a teenager when she joined Aldious and that was 10 years ago. I would have guessed her to be older but they do start young in Japan. Gacharic Spin just hired a 17 year old singer. And Nekkichi, that lame pic is from the Lovebites tour of England. Aldious have yet to set foot outside of Japan much less is that their audience. So you are twice wrong.
  17. News here, with a statement from Toki. She will leave the band after a June show, but not for good, apparently. Run it through your favorite translator. https://aldious.net/contents/244569 BIG statement from Yoshi. The bottom line seems to be they are hopeful Toki can/will come back after the baby is born. http://yoshidious.jp/archives/14921

Saki of Mary's Blood replied a few times in English, including when I called her beautiful in Japanese. And I meant it. On this side of the Pacific, Ice-T thanked me for saying his video/cover of "Institutionalized" was hilarious. And I meant that, too.

Well I DID say she had pink hair. Wasn't kidding about how small Yuri is, either. She's a head shorter than Hana and Oreo.
  20. (One is a bit of old news and one is very new..) Hyperactive goofballs Gacharic Spin have two new members now. The first, announced a few weeks ago, is Angelina 1/3 (pink hair), so named because she is 1/3 Japanese (plus Spanish and Filipino). I know, I know, it doesn't work that way but I didn't name her. She's described as a MC, which I guess means she yaps with the audience between songs. Still waiting on video of her in action. The second addition is Yuri, the child-like girl on the far left of the picture, as a DRUMMER. Seems Hana is switching to guitar and vocals. Can't say I blame her. Singing and drumming is not easy. Angelina is said to be 17. Yuri's age is unknown but she looks 12. And yes, that's Oreoreona with the Katy Perry haircut. Here is the article on the news, in Japanese. http://okmusic.jp/news/326320 The band are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year with a 3 CD Best Of due on 3/27 Update: Several people have noted that this Yuri is the same Yuri who just joined Bridear as their drummer as well, but Bridear is so inactive compared to GS she can undoubtedly do double duty

I would love a Rami return but that is unlikely. I think Sin Isomer would be a fine replacement. She has the voice. But she's a big girl so Sawa and Toki might not like that.
  22. https://aldious.net/contents/229302 Age-ha power metal band Aldious announced a 28 date "Evoke" tour with two singers splitting vocal duties. The first is former Cyntia vocalist Saki. The second is a contest winner named Rin. This is what Google translate says: And the second person appeared on TV TOKYO "THE KARAOKE ★ BATTLE" (victory in 2018), TV Asahi "Music Champ" (winning the 2018 year), "Advance Giant 2nd Season" theater version of theater version, Mobile Suit Gundam R!
