YouTube Red And You...Tube

  1. 1. Is YouTube Red something you see becoming successful?

    • You betcha! Plus with so many devices connecting to YouTube they already laid the groundwork and can start moving fast.

    • This all depends on how many lessons they've learned from would-be competitors who tried and failed first.

    • It's only been 24 hours. I don't know enough yet to say.

    • There are a lot of competitors YouTube will have to compete with but they have a unique niche in user-created content that can work.

    • Its too late. Too many alternatives / not enough interest / not well planned out.

I figured I'd add this here.

Looks like another big step for YouTube RED to dig it's claws even deeper into the cashgrab.

I seriously cannot believe these little pieces of shit (by which I mean their lawyers, mostly) are gonna go that far to make sure that only through THEIR service, can you watch videos offline.

Ive already seen some people testing out Facebook videos and I really won't be surprised if a lot of the smaller companies and bands begin to move over to it or another video hosting site once red flops.

Seriously, everything with YouTube just keeps getting worse. Whoever came up with "YouTube Red" is the biggest douce in the universe. I guess last Fall we learned that one person can singlehandedly destroy YouTube. I hope more bands move to uploading videos on Facebook. Unfortunately though, it'd still be another 10 years until Japanese bands leave YouTube.

All I've been doing recently is downloading the videos I like for offline use, since most likely they'll be blocked/deleted sooner or later.

Ironically, I was hoping to drop FB/IG soon, due to the personal feeling of the apps being too intrusive on my personal info. Looks like that won't happen if I wanna stay remotely in the loop.

If they block the online services, people will just use downloading software. Jdownloader works with youtube links, for example.

Some more news in relation to YouTube Red

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/may/20/music-industry-battling-google-youtube-what-happens-next

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jun/15/trent-reznor-nine-inch-nails-youtube-stolen-content-apple-music

tl;dr

Youtube to Music Industry: "If it weren't for us, you wouldn't be shit today." "Don't blame us, blame the users for not buying your music." "Why aren't you hounding the other music streaming sites for this cashgrab? You already get enough money from us..."

It's ironic that the service that made many of these artists famous, is now under scrutiny for still doing the same thing in 2016. I really feel for YT, I do, but they chose to go through with this Streaming service knowing full well the consequences.

So I really don't know who's more pathetic, the artists themselves for demanding more than they should chew in royalties, or YouTube, who is deflecting the blame onto its users.

I can't wait until their shitty Red goes under, or someone comes out with the exact same service, for free. *cough* ..... Facebook ......*cough*
