237Q 154 Posted January 8, 2016 well this seems like a good thread to post this in So recently I started studying swedish, but I can't get around to finding some swedish music I'd like to listen to. So I need suggestions. I like music that ranges from pop-rock to metalcore, not too heavy. I prefer newer bands mainly because of the recording technologies although I wouldn't mind older stuff if it's catchy (newer and older as in I prefer 2000's music over '90s and earlier). Some pop is good as well though I did get the chance to hear some swedish pop artists (I like Albin, for example), so I'm mainly looking for something I could really get into and listen to it because it's good and not only because it's swedish listening practice. The important thing here is that they must have swedish lyrics. To be completely clear on what I'm looking for, I'll list some examples of music I like: my favorite visual kei bands are Dolly, Liphlich, Awoi and Dog inthe PWO. Bands from english-speaking countries I like are Panic at the disco, Fall out boy, Eskimo callboy (i know they're from germany but you know), Devil Wears Prada, the Architects, Afi, Of Mice and Men. I don't mind cheesy lyrics (obviously) so the keyword here is Catchy. Thanks in advance

fitear1590 2414 Posted March 25, 2016 Does anyone here like AURORA? She's only 19, but she's a super talented Norwegian singer/songwriter. Her first album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend is one of my favorite releases of 2016 so far. Sia may be a much stronger vocalist, but AURORA's focus on dark, personal lyrics and less conventional take on pop music makes me see a bit of a connection between the two artists. They're both eccentric in certain ways, but I guess AURORA has more of a Nordic, ethereal flair. Plus, the light fantasy aesthetic in her videos/images is on-point. Anyway, I linked some music videos and songs in the spoiler below, check her out!

The Reverend 3566 Posted November 4, 2016 Some good drone/ambient I discovered today (and there didn't really seem to be a thread that fit better into): https://glowingwindowrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/throw-me-in-the-susquehanna Check it out if you're in the mood for some haunting guitar-based ambient tunes. ("Throw Me in the Susquehanna" is an awesome title too, shouts to my PA family)
