Pandabear 414 Posted March 6, 2013 I realized I often come across cool and even amazing releases by bands who generously give away their material for free. So I thought I’d make a thread dedicated to all sorts of musical goodies that are completely free to download. Some do require you to enter your email address, but they're all legit. If you contribute just make sure that what you’re posting is free and that you’re not openly pirating music. Some of the amazing releases I’ve come across for free. Revocation - Teratogenesis In a sense you can consider them fusion metal. They mix technical, thrash and death all into one.The drums are sick, the vocals are devastating and the guitar solos will melt your face off. If you like your metal extreme check them out. Download: Here Borderlands - Awaken Dreamers These guys remind me of the current incarnation of the Devil Wears Prada, but a bit more technical and minus the clean vocals. A solid EP debut with a good quality sound production. Download: Here
Pandabear 414 Posted March 6, 2013 Intervals - In Time This is a spectacular release. If you don’t know these guys, you probably will in the not so distant future. They play technical progressive metal with heavy Djenty rhythms. They’re instrumental only, but the musicianship is highly technical and the production is super clean. You can download this for free, or you can pay what you think the EP is worth and help the band out. Download: Here The Cherry Wave - The Cherry Wave EP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHNeKgY9_2A An EP by a shoegaze band. It’s very lo fi and sticks to the conservative form of the genre. Download: Here
Pandabear 414 Posted March 6, 2013 Crosses - Crosses EP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfrPfHEF_84 Side project of Chino Moreno. It's awesome. Just listen to the above sample. Download: Here Scroll down and look at the right corner. She - Various Albums He's an electronic artist. He's got some good stuff with quality production. He has several albums for free on his website. Download: Here Edit:Fudgecakes, none of the samples are appearing >.<
Champ213 1858 Posted March 6, 2013 You probably didn't use the proper tag for embedding videos. Click the "Special BBCode" box (Top, third from left) and choose "Media".
Pandabear 414 Posted March 6, 2013 ^ Strange, usually it just works by pasting the video address without any type of code. Tried it using the media code and it didn't work that way either.
Flame-X 441 Posted March 6, 2013 Good thread idea. I was just about to post she but you beat me to it. Blue Stahli sometimes gives out free tracks. If you're into music similar to Celldweller's, give him a try. http://www.bluestahli.com/site/free-stuff
bonsaijodelfisch 328 Posted March 7, 2013 hmmn, youtube-embedding seems to be fucked atm, will post anyways since this is a great idea! Barrows great(!!!) instrumental post-rock band. if you like russian circles and the likes this is for you album here http://barrowstheband.bandcamp.com/ SiR PRYCE sample https://soundcloud.com/sirpryce/funk-you electro-funk/complextro/yourmum, not the stuff i normally listen to, but it's great dance stuff and or backgroud kitchen music aswell (if you're flatmates are annoyed by your knack for cheesy VK and/or satanic blackened deathcrust) album (all individual tracks) here http://sirpryce.bandcamp.com/ Machinae Supremacy chiptune powermetal (jup, that's right, blast dem chips) they've done a few soundtracks for computergames now and are also known to play some of the "music from FinalFantasy" concerts when a band is needed, exceptional is the JetsNGuns OST, if you like Touhou this is for you download http://machinaesupremacy.com/downloads/ AldoRaine Post-Hardcore/Doom some nice dudes with some nice Tracks, Mastering really smmears over it all unfortunately, but still okayish, i mean hey, it's free albums here http://aldorainedoom.bandcamp.com/ The Melvins well, it's the motherfuckin' melvins, whaddaya expect... album here http://www.scionav.com/collection/917 Odjbox bigbeat/Balkan-groove/funk very nice chill and groove tracks, probably suitable for the same kitchen-pupose as sirpryce here http://odjbox.com/ that's it for now... Pandabear 414 Posted March 7, 2013 Beat Culture - Tokyo Dreamer Beat Culture is manufactured by 17-year old Sunik Kim, who, simply put, creates experimental-dream-glitch-post-dubstep. The cohesive and cleverly produced "Goldenbacked Weaver" is Beat Culture's debut album filled with a swirl of sub-genres and samples; you can hear a slight influence of Gold Panda, Animal Collective, Star Slinger, Burial and others. From Hong Kong (but actually Korean) and attending boarding school in Concord, New Hampshire, Beat Culture's tracks consists of catchy phrases and atmospheric beats that "push tracks past the limit with no regard for the rules" Download: Here No Anchor - Golden Bridge They're sludge/stoner/crust. If you enjoy that type of thing or noisy droning, give them a try. Download: Here Videos seem to be working now and Barrows are awesome. Will go through the rest of the list later. Pandabear 414 Posted March 25, 2013 Lee Mckinny, the guitarist from Born Of Osiris just put out a free EP of his electronic side project Mechanize and it's awesome. Proves he's just not sick at guitar shredding, but also great at making addictive dubstep beats. Mechanize - Fanatsy Download: HERE Butter The Children - Lupus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-J9mnR0mA A indie rock band with nice guitar work and pop melodies. There EP was a fun listen. Download: HERE
fitear1590 2414 Posted March 25, 2013 One of my favorite releases of 2012 was free on bandcamp!Likes Lions - First The Head, Then The Tale Really nice mellow math rock. They say they are influenced by bands like Tubelord, American Football, This Town Needs Guns, Minus the Bear, etc.Fantastic stuff imo, especially for such a young band. Here's a sample:
Pandabear 414 Posted March 28, 2013 This might only be a single, but it's a really good one, even if it is a cover. Eskimo Callboy - Cinema Download: HERE Rings of Saturn - Dingir album stream Download: HERE These guys are my new favorite metal band I've recently come across. They're technical deathmetal/deathcore with topics dealing all about aliens. They released they're album for free and upload guitar tabs for all their songs which is awesome. As for the album itself, it's a mash of brutality, technicality and a few melodic passages. It's sick. There are a ton of alien sounding guitar sweeps and the double bass drumming and blast beats are the fastest I have ever heard from any drummer.
bonsaijodelfisch 328 Posted March 30, 2013 ermagerd! so much stuff to check out i've recently stumbled over mike-divas soundcloud and he apparently made his tracks downloadable, so this is kind of a 5-track EP of sorts its basically distorted electronic dance music (think mindless self indulgence) with some dubstep elements... EDIT: gaddammit, forgot link... https://soundcloud.com/mikediva sample very cool listen this
Zeus 7997 Posted April 1, 2013 If I can make a quick suggestion: can everyone from here on out put YouTube videos in spoilers? It would really help with loading this thread faster and we could always just click the spoiler and listen to all the good music anyway.
Replicant 133 Posted April 1, 2013 Even though his work has been posted before... ventla. He currently has 22 albums out, all of which you can snag on his tumblr. http://ventla.tumblr.com/ Samples: https://soundcloud.com/ventla Also Webbed Hand Records has many albums for free. They focus on electroambient and drone type music. http://webbedhandrecords.com/ Samples: http://www.youtube.com/user/webbedhand And archive.org has a whole section of free music distributed by netlabels. Various genres. There's a TON of stuff and if you're looking for free music, this is a good jump off point, I feel. http://archive.org/details/netlabels --- If we must post specific artists, I'll edit my post with some specifics. EDIT: Oops! I can't believe I forgot dep.dep is a guy that produces experimental electronica, with elements of ambient and acoustic work. He's a self described 'bedroom producer', making most of his work at home. All of his albums are free on his website, and there is a radio on the site that has everything streaming. (But you can also buy them/donate as well if you really like.) http://dep.fm/ You can sign up for a mailing list to know when new releases are out, but it's 100% optional. (Thanks to that, it's how I remembered that I forgot to mention him... he just released a new album!)

Muma 97 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm slightly intimidated by you guys giving descriptions/genres of the music you post >_< I just listen, if I like then I like, and i'm not very good with genres so, i'll just stick to what the band have tagged their music as, and you can listen for yourself (seeing as all of them are on bandcamp) well that could have gone better, they just tag them with everything or 'alternative' -sigh- Take the tags with a pinch of salt I guess My Iron Lung: indie, punk. post-hardcore -HERE- Anthony and the Second Verse: indie-rock, emo, memory map??? (anyone know what this is?)-HERE- Cat City: rock, alt-country, experimental pop, indie pop, indie rock -HERE- Circle Takes The Square: hardcore, punk, apocalyptic, grindcore, indie rock, prog metal, punk, screamo, skramz -HERE- Per Aspera: hardcore, metal, punk -HERE- Also Robotic Empire seem to have quite a lot of free music, I've only tried PG.99 which is skramz I guess (pssst I really like 'The Lonesome Waltz of Leonard Cohen') and YOUNG WIDOWS LIVE @ WMUC which is kind punky???//.S>?D/s?Z?D-HERE- Soft Roars: shoegaze, depressive surf pop, ambient -HERE- yeah, I recently went on a free music hunt, new and not sure if you guys will like it but HEY FREE MUSIC IS ALWAYS GOOD OH and before I forget -THIS- tumblr has quite a lot of more mainstream hardcore/metalcore bands (according to them) although they've not updated it for a while, if you've wanted to get into a few of these bands then....GO FOR IT! it's my first post uwaaah.....hope you enjoy and find something you like and all that shizz, ok i'll stop now >_<
Replicant 133 Posted July 5, 2013 Ah, I forgot about this place, it's one of the first free music sites I went to, and learned about she and anamanaguchi: 8bitpeoples [OHP] As the name implies, it's chiptune-based music. It has early works from she, anamanaguchi, KPLECRAFT, USK, and more. (I mention those cause they're sorta-recognizable? Espically anamanaguchi as of late.)
