Jigsaw9 6783 Posted March 2, 2013 It seems Masami Tsuchiya has been busy making a new project together with fellow musicians ISSAY and Ken Morioka, among others. The new band called KA.F.KA will make their first appearance on 2013/04/06 at the Takutaku livehouse in Kyoto. Below is the full line-up and quotes from Tsuchiya's Facebook. guitar, vocals: Masami Tsuchiya (ex-Ippu-Do) vocals: ISSAY (DER ZIBET) keyboard: Ken Morioka (ex-SOFT BALLET) bass: KENKEN (RIZE) drums: MOTOKATSU (THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS) Finally, my project completed. Live schedule Please confirm from the follwing link. http://www.geisya.or.jp/~takutaku/future/1304.html This LIVE EVENT is a so gorgeous and precious event produced by God mother- Ms. Mari Kaneko. This event will be held from March 31 to April 7. I'm really honored to have the opportunity to show our first play at such a place. Anyway, please come to Kyoto to see us. KA.F.KA~Prologue~ In these few years, I often met Issay from "Der Zibet" by chance. Though I don't know the reason why, I felt really comfortable every time I meet him, and Ken Morioka also often joined us. This accidental meeting motivated me to imagine how it would be great if I could work with these people to create new music. I cast " ? " on them with great curiosity. Only " ! " returned to me. Now, we have just started to the "NEW WAVE" previous night, in order to find the important things which we have left in the past. Jigsaw9 6783 Posted March 13, 2013 Some thoughts about the other members, from Masami Tsuchiya's Facebook: 【KenKen】 He's a son of Japanese icon singer Mari Kaneko, and his father is Johnny Yoshinaga, also very important icon of Japanese rock scene. Our first session was ten years ago. Though KenKen was still seventeen at that time, his sound was very aggressive and impressive. In January of this year, I saw his play after a long time, and I realized that he became every inch a super bassist. Though I think I know his publicimage as a "native-born Red Hot Chili Peppers generation", I also know that he is very naive, diligent and polite young man. I can't help hoping that KA.F.KA will be the chance to flower his new genius. 【MOTOKATSU】 Super drummer from the super band "THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS". Especially MAD is the band which was sweeping over the live scene in Europe and America in the 90s, and I had ever come across them at the cafe in the Little Venice of London. Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to meet MOTOKATSU after that, though I deepen a friendship with Ai Ishigaki (member of MAD). I like his drum play style which has something like coherence. I realized the reason why I felt like this when I met him again. He is the coherent person. He is a reliable person who never says a unnecessary thing. If it's possible, I would like to continue to create sounds with him.
Fin Paulux 17 Posted August 2, 2013 I'm only worried that it was a limited time event and they are not planning anything beyond the dates listed. Of course I didn't expect a release, but maybe live footage? I'm pretty sure it was rather interesting combo though.
Jigsaw9 6783 Posted August 2, 2013 ^ Yeah, seems like it was a short-lived project (or maybe they'll pick it up time and time again?). Anyway, Masami Tsuchiya himself is more or less finished with his new solo album! No release date yet tho (I think).
