Top albums of 2010

Recommended Posts

Man, now that I think of it, it's been a really slow year. Not much albums were released which I cared about. Well, there's still Miyavi and -OZ- coming. But so far, in no specific order.

DaizyStripper - Birth/Love

NoGod - Kakera

Versailles - Jubilee

Yeah. The best non-japanese album so far this year is probably Whispered - Thousand Swords.

??????を殺???????? by 神????????????ゃん (Shinseikamattechan)

Paraselene by heaven in her arms

Arkha... (damnit) Arkhaiomelisidonophunikheratos by Satanicpornocultshop (all those Get Ur Freak On covers should not be missed)

Shinsekai by ミドリ

I'm sure I forgot something essential, but can't go wrong with those.

I fail to understand how you fail to understand. It was love at first listen! And after almost a year they sound just as fresh.

You do realize it's released on March 10 right, so 03/10

It's now September 16, so 09/16

6 months and 6 days =/= almost a year

:)

But yeah, besides the 'almost a year' thingy, you're right :)

I meant since I first heard them, not the album. Though I'm not sure if that was before or after they released it, so you could be right. My memory ain't like it used to be.

^ lol, seriously, though. Virtually everyone I know who's heard that band loves them. I've only seen one person express any kind of distaste for them.

I dunno...I may have to give their album another listen. If I remember correctly, I was extremely put off by the vocals. =S

I was gonna suggest you go see their homemade Youtube PV's instead, since those are priceless with the fake MTV logos and everything, but they're way more ear rapey than the album. So perhaps that wouldn't help, haha. The album's missing some of their best songs though.

I dunno...I don't mind loud/noisy/harsh stuff, but there is something that really turned me off about this band...I'm almost positive it was the vocals, but I'd have to listen again to be exact. xD

I won't differ between singles, EPs, demos and albums. Everything goes into one list.

Right now the list is looking like this:

1. Kagrra - Tsuki ni Murakumo Hana ni Ame / Shiroi Uso 10/10

3. Sigh - Scenes From Hell 10/10

4. Alcest - Écailles de Lune / Les Discrets - Septembre et Ses Dernières Pensées 10/10

6. Entertainment for the Braindead - Trivialities 10/10

7. Boris & Ian Astbury - BXI 9.5/10

8. Entertainment for the Braindead - Roadkill 9.5/10

9. My Dead Girlfriend - Ixtab 9.5/10

10. Okkultokrati - No Light for Mass 9.5/10

11. Lantlôs - .Neon 9/10

12. Swallowed - Swallowed 9/10

13. Merry - The Cry Against… / Monochrome 9/10

These are also worth a mention seeing as they are all amazing albums, especially the three first. But I won't include them on my list because they'e not good enough for that. There's a huge difference between the 9/10 in the list and 8/10 belove the list. Belive it or not, but it is. And the list will probably have a lot of other albums in it wwhich is better than the ones belove.

Burzum - Belus 8/10

Watain - Lawless Darkness 8/10

Darkthrone - Circle the Wagons 7,5/10

Finntroll - Nifelvind 6,5/10

Another amazing year for music filled with classics and what not. Impressive what people can make in 2010. Just impressive!

Had to quote myself cuz I had to change my list a little.

Had to quote myself once more and add Boris' BXI. Amazing release. Ian Astbury sings like a damn God on this record, Wata never sang this good before as she does on the cover of the classic The Cult song "Rain" and the song writing is just top notch. Great shiet!

Yeah! I love it. But I can't find anything about it on her homepage. But it stood 2010 on the blog I found it, and the rip says 2010 as well. But I kinda think it is from 2010 if a fan (?) didn't hear it yet. Amazing release anyway. Suck a beautiful release, and maybe even her best release.

It IS a must have. Not really an easy listening EP. And it's nothing hard. We're talking about Rock here. Great release, though.

You either didn't hear much this year or your taste is way too limited.

In terms of japanese music there was indeed very little noteworthy that I can remember. A few singles, a mini-album, but few full albums. So I'm inclined to agree with Neon. But then again I didn't listen to much japanese music the last few months.

And since this was posted in the 'japanese rock' section I won't post the non-japanese albums here.
