Not gonna lie, that's about time if you ask me. And hopefully he'll be able to put even more time and effort into Vintersorg and other projects again, which would be really great now that Vintersorg is on a proper high with some truly great releases, unlike what I think Borknagar has for the last 19 years. Alongside more work on Vintersorg it Would be cool if him and Øystein Garnes Brun of Borknagar got out another Cronian album, as well as getting out the damn Otyg already. Vintersorg and the rest of the band revived Otyg in 2012 and talked about an album being close to finished composing-wise in 2013-2014, but that they didn't have time to record it. Which is a massive shame as this is one of those truly classic folk metal bands that actually nailed that type of folk metal. They sound more folky than most folk metal bands, and they're way, way closer to folk rock than other bands in the genre which is really cool. The metal part doesn't play a big part of the sound at all, especially not on the debut album. Underrated band.

Just discovered this album that was released late last year. It's a project between Azgorh (Drowning the Light) and Akhtya Nachttoter (Black Funeral). It kinds sounds like a mix of Drowning the Light, Black Funeral and Mortiis. Think vampiric black metal like Drowning the Light, Mütiilation, Vampyric Blood and Black Funeral, mixed with 90's (sounding) dungeon synth like Mortiis, Old Tower, Spectral Kingdom and Thangorodrim. Got a grim and medieval feeling to it. Sounds terrific!

If you're familiar with the group you know what to expect. If you're not (then fucking shame on you!!!), we're talking old school and familiar, yet fresh and new-sounding boom bap that'll make you think of the glory days of hip hop. This album is fucking FIRE! But we're used to that by now. These madmen just doesn't know how to make anything bad. Pure gold!

Will check when I get home. Heard the new Carpenter Brut track on my way to work. Was very cool. The cover art and title is awesome some as well.

One Cut of the Dead - This low-budget, Japanese horror-comedy is the type of film that'll make every other director who've ventured into the sub-genre over the past 25-30 years to feel truly ashamed that they were nowhere near as creative, fun, innovativ, original, charming and fucking awesome as this. Made on a budget of something like $25000 with a cast of mostly inexperienced and new faces it shows what you can do with creativity, a cool but simple vision and will. This is everything you could ever want from a horror comedy imo. Adds so much freshness into a sub-genre that's been pretty stale for a long time, and makes one of the most unique and original horror movies ever. Hands down a fucking masterpiece! Charming, funny, original, unique. Laughed out loud so many times, and I don't always do that when I sit along and watch movies with my midday coffee. Brilliant! Btw, the details. Holy fucking christ is this movie detailed. Like, HOLY motherfucking FUCK is it detailed. Stunning!

Had to turn off after 30 minutes. Some of the absolute worst crap I've ever seen, and this surely has to rank among the lowest and most boring, stupid and useless films of the 5500+ films and series that I've actually seen. Looked like shit, felt like shit and played along like the worst fucking diarrhea-driven piece of shit movie I've ever seen. And the dancing choreography? God awful, but sadly not as bad as the one in Showgirls where it becomes unintentionally hilarious and fun. This was just sad and pathetic. An absolute disgrace of a movie. Cancerous. It's absolutely fantastic that Argento is man enough to come out and say what he thinks about the movie as well.

Overlord - Finally got to see this film and what a motherfucking masterpiece. You can't really talk about this without mentioning Frankenstein's Army, Outpost and Blood Creek, but that's not negative at all if you ask me as I just love these horror movies dealing with nazi occultism and similar shit. I was told that this was mainly a war-drama with some horror thrown in, but it really isn't. This is a horror movie all the way through. Great atmosphere, plot, acting and special effects. Brilliant film!

This is a pretty cool album. An hour of dark, sleazy stoner doom that's heavy as fuck. Think I'd like it even better if the vocals were toned down a bit. A bit lower in the mix and hidden behind a layer of hazy effects or something. But it's good, and I absolutely adore that cover. So fucking sleazy. Blood Ceremony are releasing a new single, one new track and a The Who cover. The video is the new original track performed live for the first time, and I ain't gonna lie: that sounds exceptional as always. Sounds a bit less folk-rock influences, but catchy as fuck and the flute is magnificent. Can't wait for the single, and hopefully a new album sooner rather than later.

It is, and that's great. Both xXx and xXx: Return of Xander Cage are good and fun movies. Looking forward to a new film. Should be fun. But I have no idea why they'd get this guy to compose anything. Guy hasn't done anything listenable since 1993, which again was the only listenable song since 1989. I can't imagine this soundtrack being good or fitting at all, unless he's just planning to re-record a ton of songs made between 84-88. And even that would suck, just because it would lack the intense feeling of the original songs. Gonna be a train wreck of a soundtrack for sure.

I watched Velvet Buzzsaw yesterday and I thought it was pretty cool. It felt a bit too long, but it was just weird, silly and over the top enough to make up for it. I would recommend it for people into slightly weird and artsy horror movies. I also watched some other movies during the weekend: The Salvation - Rewatched this and it's so fucking good. A modern western that don't offers anything new or different. For most part it feels like a big, fat homage to the classics of the 60's and 70's and it works. Superb cast with Mads Mikkelsen, Eva Green, Mikael Persbrandt, Eric Cantona and Jeffrey Dean Morgan who plays a badguy that's so cool and bad he's close to being a parody. Excellent! Zero Dark Thirty - Decent tale about how they got Osama bin Laden. he handcraft is, for most part, excellent, and the story itself isn't bad. But like the vast majority of american films similar to this it's just too patriotic to the point where it becomes unintentionally funny. The only thing missing is a scene where an eagle fly by an american flag on top of the white house, with epic music and slo-mo added. Also, the torture scenes are ridiculous. Not sure why they were added, or at least used the way they were. Stupid decision. Not gonna lie, this has to be one of the most overrated films I've seen and if this was a British, French or German flick it would not have been rated nearly as high, nor would it have won any big awards. Probably not been nominated either. Easily the worst Kathryn Bigelow film I've seen so far, and I've seen The Loveless, Near Dark, Blue Steel, Point Break, Strange Days, K-19: The Widowmaker, The Hurt Locker and now Zero Dark Thirty).

Agreed. I thought a few of the episodes where a tad too long, but the series overall ere really good and entertaining. It's fun and witty, but at the same time it takes up some serious issues like sexuality among teenagers, the frustration and pressure and how hard it is to live with ridiculous expectations. Very pro-lgbt as well. It got renewed, and I am looking forward to it for sure.

Another new Saor song and this time it features Neige of Alcest. Better than the last track and one of the better Saor tracks to date, and much of it comes down to Neige's excellent vocals. He's just on a whole different planet vocal wise.

I've posted this in the metal thread, but it just didn't get any love for some reason so I'll post it here too. Melodic black metal/crust that balances perfectly between the two genres, offering atmosphere, and heavy and crushing riffs. That opening is basically a Mgla rip off, but I do not mind that at all. A beast of an album!

I'd say black metal or doom metal. There's just so much you can do within the framework of black metal before it becomes something else, unlike death metal, folk metal, heavy metal, grindcore, power metal etc. where the framework is so much tighter. At least from what we've seen so far IMO.

Killer High - The type of film that might get a cult status in the future. This film was picked up by SyFy and therefore bears its name everywhere, which I think might be a buzzkill because when most people think of SyFy nowadays they think about modern Syfy original films and The Asylum productions like Sharknado and its sequels, Mega Shark and its sequel and so on. Bit Killer High is a pretty cool creature feature slasher flick that really works. Good special effects, time absolutely stunning shots, visually impressive and the acting is good as well. Fun, fun film and I'll gladly recommend this to anyone into slashers and creature features. Screamers - Slammed by the ctitics, loved by the horror/sci-fi cult movie fanbase. It's not perfect, but it's hella cool for sure. Peter Weller's totally awesome, and the concept as well as the bad "guys" are really damn cool. Underrated and overlooked flick.

Trigger Warning with Killer Mike was cool. Short documentary series where we get to see living legend Killer Mike try out different things, from learning basic, handyman skilles through porno to making a new bible, living black and more. It's really fun with Killer Mike & co plowing through six short episodes with thoughtful humor, absurdity, truth and strong opinions. Highly recommended!

City of Ghosts - A documentary about Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently, a activist group who went against ISIS and who are the main reason why the people outside of the places occupied by ISIS actually got to know what was actually happening. An incredible documentary, and an extremely important one as it shows us a side of things we rarely get to see. Man, seeing a man and his younger brother watch an extremely well-made and stylish execution clip of their father getting executed by the ISIS really fucking hard to watch. And their father got executed because of these brave young lads. Brutal, bleak, but incredibly inspirational. These guys in Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently are total legends. Braver than 90% of the rest of the earths population. Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings - I really liked the first Detective Dee movie which was a Sherlock Holmes inspired wuxia film, much a modern version of the classic wuxia mystery movies The Sentimental Swordsman and its sequel Return of the Sentimental Swordsman, as well as the trilogy Clans of Intrigue, Legend of the Bat and Perils of the Sentimental Swordsman. But the second Detective Dee movie, Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon which is a prequel, was disappointing. Cool and fun and all, but disappointing and has a lot of wack CGI in it. This film, also a prequel to the first Detective Dee movie, but a sequel to Rise of the Dragon, is another disappointment. Some wack CGI and shit, but for most part it's actually fairly impressive to look at. Creative, original, weird and so on. But I think it lacks proper focus and the mystery, which was made the first one so cool, is pushed to the back. It's not what drives the movie forward, which is a proper shame. First half is really good, but then it looses its depth and goes into a CGI fest.

Los Parecidos / The Similars was the muthafuckin' shit. Takes a classic 40's, 50's and 60's setting, a pretty classic type of The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Invasion of the Body Snatchers influenced plot and turns it into something trippy, campy, classic and unique at the same time. So different, yet so familiar. Absolute brilliance! The weirdness and atmosphere are fantastic, the set and location are outstanding, the cinematography is beautiful and the acting and special effects are top, top notch. Can't ask for more IMO.

Jeez, that is so weird. Find it weird how it hasn't been recommended to me by Netflix, but after they changed from scoring the films 1-5 to thumbs up or down the recommendations have sucked major ass.

I'm the type of weirdo who doesn't look for originalitythe or something unique in nee bands, and I love original tribute band (bands that write new music, but who try their best to sound like other bands). Doesn't mean I don't like originality tho, cuz I appreciate that as well. It's just not a must or anything gor me personally. But truth be told, I haven't found a single new vk band that I find interesting in ages. Think the last was Grieva, and that's what? 5-10 years ago or something? Some of the reason is ny own fault tho. Like most other scenes it's almost overflowed with bands, but I don't really have anywhere to find the new, good bands. Finding new, good western music of all types and genres are easy as hell because I got places where people will make it easy to find the new bands, but I don't have somewhere to look for new, good vk bands.

Original is total fucking cult. Amazing film! I did not know it was up in Netflix. I know what I'm gonna this evening. Is it long since it was added? Can't remember seeing it there, but then again I rarely check horror movies on Netflix. Seen the majority of it, and lately I've been using tubitv which is free alternative to Netflix. Recommended!
