I can attest to this, just saw them myself earlier this week. They kick so much ass live!

Thanks for the gig reviews, @Bear, it was fun to read. I hope I can see Carpathian Forest live some day too~

I like me some Ghost Bath, especially the Moonlover album! ♥ Got to see them live when they toured with that, great show too. Sadly I was completely turned off by the advance tracks I heard from their latest, so never checked it out...

Not sure if it fits here, but I've been relistening to lots of Arcturus. Great band. Even the last album (that came like a decade after the previous one) is solid. Not sure whether they can be classified as black metal, but at least the first album is pretty kickass symphonic / atmospheric / avantgarde black metal, and the rest are amazing avantgarde extreme metal works. ...that's all.

*I was forced to pause the videos in 2018/04/04 due to suffering from hearing loss.

Coincidentally "Grief" is also the title of the photograph (taken during WW2) they used for the album's cover art.

This is not a musical comparison, just something interesting I've stumbled upon. I just noticed how DIR EN GREY used part of the same WW2 photograph by Dmitri Baltermants for their THE MARROW OF A BONE album (2007) as British crust punk band Amebix for their No Sanctuary EP (1984). Granted, it's not unusual that different bands use the same 'well-known' work of art for their albums, I just haven't seen a Japanese/non-Japanese connection like this before (or not that I can remember right now).

Quality band photo and member names, already stanning.

Can't believe the full song is finally up. It's a bit tricky but I found it at [THE CONTENT OF THIS POST IS FOR PREMIUM MEMBERS ONLY. YOU NEED A MONOCHROME HEAVEN PREMIUM ACCOUNT TO ACCESS THIS POST]

Awesome! I'll be seeing them live alongside Furia and Au-Dessus next week!

The mighty Blood Music just released Lychgate's new album "The Contagion in Nine Steps". Awesome theatrical, dark, proggy rotten atmospheric metal goodness, venturing into way more weird territory than their excellent previous full-length (which is my fave from them so far, tho that might change soon). https://blood-music.bandcamp.com/album/the-contagion-in-nine-steps

This is Shuuji Ishii (cali≠gari, goatbed) + Közi (MALICE MIZER, ZIZ, VAMQUET, etc.) + Sadie Pink Galaxy (ex-JUBILEE, SPEECIES), and formerly Takao Koma but he's not part of this reunion. The one you're thinking of is ZIZ.

Just finished catching up on Channel Zero and I gotta say this has quickly and easily become my favorite horror series, at least in the one-story-per-season anthological format (byebye AHS's dried-up corpse). Season 1 (Candle Cove): strong and atmospheric start Season 2 (No-End House): pretty unsettling, solid stuff Season 3 (Butcher's Block): things get proper freaky and I LOOOOVE IT

That's been kinda their trademark since, uhmmm... 20 years ago or so. (okay, maybe not as prevalently but still, it's kinda part of their futuristic bleep-bloop schtick)

Has anyone tried ordering from MADAME EDWARDA's official store page on their website? http://www.madameedwarda.com/order/form.html Any experiences? Do they even accept non-Jp orders? (it's not explicitly stated anywhere but I would guess they do, seeing how they wrote out some stuff in English too)

Tarantüla just released a new EP! These guys keep pumping out releases like nobody's business and they're all amazing. https://pissedoffrecs.bandcamp.com/album/tarant-la-the-very-best-of-sex-and-violence-cs

The band just announced another self-cover mini album titled "4"!! If I understood it right, both "3" and "4" will be released in stores on the same date, 2018/04/25. The theme of the newer mini album is "jazz-style rearrangements". Tentative list of songs (not the final order): ・ 誘蛾灯 (Yuugatou) ・ さよなら、スターダスト (Sayonara, Stardust) ・ 君が咲く山 (Kimi ga saku yama) ・ 月光ドライブ (Gekkou Drive) ・ わずらい (Wazurai)
