  1. I totally agree with the 3 reviews above. Although I've never thought they "suck" (even their worst releases were "really good" to me), we were coming closer and closer with every releases to the point where I'd have to say I don't like this anymore. Fortunately, BALLAD stopped this tendency.

First of all, the title track is great. It's something I could listening to all day without get bored of it. Even though it's not a "real" ballad, it gives you the same mood that "real" ballads do, so I can see where the title coming from. Yet it's catchy, the lyrics is well-written, and the chorus is pure awesomeness. Perfect song for February. :3

Before I'd say anything about CRYSTALIZE, I'd like to state I usually don't give a fuck about b-sides. Most time they just sounds like weak filler tracks without any real purpose, so to me it's like single = a-side only. lynch. is one of the really few exceptions when I'm actually looking forward to hear their b-sides just as much as their a-sides (and when they upload their new PV on YouTube, I don't think I've heard the whole single). As far as I can remember, they always made amazing jobs in the past, and CRYSTALIZE is just another awesome b-side in their discography. This is something that most Japanese bands should learn from them.

All in all, this is pretty much a perfect single to me (my biggest problem is the black bars on the cover, and I think this sums up really well how great the music is). Not their all-time best, but definitely a step-up from INFERIORITY COMPLEX and LIGHTNING (though I really, really, really loved THE MORNING GLOW), which weren't half-bad either. Maybe I sound like a stupid fanboy, but whatever...

One more thing in the end (a bit off-topic): I hope they won't release a new album this summer. Seriously, just take the time you need. Release another single instead, and wait with that album till the end of the year (maybe the summer of 2014 would be even better, but I doubt King Records would let them to take such a long break, and I guess I couldn't wait that much either ). Anyhow, I think a 3rd single before the full-album would be the best choice this time.

  2. Deathnote back in 2007 i think it was,  that got me into nightmare and a few others and then it sort of kicked off from there i guess.

Same here! Well, not exactly... I watched a lot of anime before Death Note that got me into some japanese songs, but those were mostly j-pop openings/endings. I didn't really bother to download anything else from these artists than the songs featured in the anime. After I watched Death Note, I decided to check a whole album from the band, and that's how I got Nightmare's the WORLD Ruler, my first vk album ever. While I was listening to it, I had a conversation with a friend who was into japanese music for years. He suggested me some other popular vk bands, so I checked some other albums too at the same day. These were 12012's DIAMOND and Dir en grey's A MARROW OF A BONE, and if I'm right, D'espairsRay's MIRROR was my fourth vk album (one day later). After that, I started to geting into japanese music. I checked a lot of artists/bands - not just vk, but some "underground" music as well, like SHILFEE AND TULIPCOROBOCKLES, FLOPPY, spam_life etc. (these releases were really hard to get back then, but fortunately I had a friend who helped me with that). Anyway, I don't remember the majority of bands I was listening to these days, but the first vk bands I mentioned (I know, Dir en grey can't be labeled as vk anymore) are still really important to me. I don't think 12012 is a good band anymore, but I still visiting there site like every day to see if there is any news on their next release. And I don't think Nightmare is a great band either, but I get very excited when they announce anything new. Speaking of Dir en grey and D'espairsRay, they're still my two favorite japanese bands ever.

    That's all I guess. :3

  4. I started drinking alcohol. Bad idea.

Same here, plus lost my phone as bonus (or it was stolen, I don't even remember).

So I basically decided to stop drinking alcohol for the rest of my life. Not that I was drinking that much (I actually drank pretty rarely compared to most people), but this day was something I don't want to go through ever again. Even foreveraloneness is much, MUCH better than this.

  5. I don't think it makes sense to make an unplugged version of an instrumental song.

    Edit:

DIR EN GREY who continues to storm not only Japan but the world, will be releasing a Mini Album 'THE UNRAVELING' with 7 songs including a new song "Unraveling" in April 3, 2013, just 4 months after their new single "RINKAKU"

From their FB. I wonder if Unraveling will be on their next album?

I can't think of their next album anymore. I mean, they were quite predictable till now, but at this moment I don't know what to expect. There are too many options, and I'm not even sure if Rinkaku will be on any full-length album (maybe it was just a "single only" release like ain't afraid to die).

Also it's strange to see a song name without full caps. It looks like they really want to bring back their pre-2006/07 era.

  6. Am I the only one who would rather have only new songs instead?

No, my first reaction when I saw the tracklist on their OHP was disappointment.

^ And I was thinking I'm the only one who'd prefer new songs. This could be a huge surprise if they weren't talking about 7 NEW songs in the first place, but now I can't deny I'm disappointed (while super-excited for these remakes in the same time).

  8. Hi everyone! I'm searching for a brutal rip-off of DIR EN GREY's "THE FINAL". I know a lot of songs out there fit into the description, so here's some more info (still not enough, I'm afraid, but maybe someone can help me):

    • Most likely it's from a vk band.
    • I'm 99% sure it was the last song of a 3-track single.
    • I think both the band and the song have one-word english name/title with FULL CAPZ, but I'm not certain.
    • I have a feeling either the band name or the song title started with letter "D" or "N", but this is just plain guessing and not really helpful anyway.
    • Found it in a thread of the old TW forum (something like "Rip-off songs").

That's all I can recall after 2-3 years. I'm not even know why I'm so obsessed with this song, maybe I just want to have it for nostalgic purpose.

Thanks a lot for any help!  :3

  9. I'm not really familiar with this band (just got to know them this month lol), but I love how they're putting out completely different, yet surprisingly good songs in such a short amount of time. This one won't be my favourite, and yeah, a bit GazettE-like, but all I can say is keep up the good work and give us an album now pls. :3
