First thought: 4AD? Isn't that a music label? Then: Oh, it's a band (or unit). And they sound okay, I guess.

DM) 2,60 D:

One thing for sure has never changed in visual kei to this very day: band members being deliquents.
  5. There is a difference in recommending bands like in the Jrock or Visual kei recommendation threads (which I think work well) and posting just a bunch of names
  6. I am pretty sure people who like -core music can google new bands themselves... I think making huge lists with no base for a discussion are out of place on this forum. You can do that on a blog instead if you want.
  7. I hope I can get my hands on this. Will it be sold at regular stores and online shops like CD Japan?
  8. My eyes are red anf fucking buuuuuurn argh >_<

I wouldn't consider Phantasmagoria to be kote either... but let's be honest: there is no such a thing as "kote kei". It's a term invented by foreign fans who disliked the way visual kei changed ca. 2005-2008 and put their nostalgia glasses on. I am not an exception, as I prefer the old bands over the new ones. But I don't think "Kote kei" is a genre or a useful label... if you ask four fans of old visual kei music what it means you will probably get 10 answers. Some people only sort the indie bands from the Matina, Key Party and Soleil label there, others claim that all visual kei from 1992 to ca. 2002 is Kote and then there are people who say all the try hard goth bands are kote kei, while the others classify just as old visual kei or "light/soft visual kei". I still have to find sources that indicate that this term was ever used by japanese people and haven't found any so far. While Light or Soft visual is a valid term you see used by both japanese and foreign fans Kote kei isn't. let alone that no 90s band would call themselves Kote - neither did the word exist back then nor will those old bands ever see themselves as that. It's still useful though and helps a lot to find possible new (and old) bands that have the popular indie visual kei sound from the late 90s. But considering how artificial this term is it's also very hard to say what type of bands belong to it. I can definitely understand and see why people would call Kiryu "Kote kei". Sound technical they don't really sound like most modern visual kei bands (or neo visual kei... but that's another questionable term). When I listen to them I can find many similiarities with the visual kei groups from say 2002-2005. Of course that's not really 90s or old... and I don't think costumes play an important part in the kote kei thing either. Not all bands in the 90s were as effimenately dressed as Madeth gray'll or Aliene. @Hyura As said above, Kote kei is extremely vague... i'd say early Kuroyume are definitely "Kote" as they were basically the origin of all those dark, goth influenced bands that followed after (and the whole Nagoya kei trend). But on the other side there are people claiming Baiser aren't Kote kei, because they are 8especially in their later era) too soft.

Money trouble or not, I still think the whole "if you don't buy our shit we will disband and that will make you hopefully regret to have not come to our lives" is shitty and immature. There are a lot of bands in visual kei and other genres who are broke as hell and they don't need to use this stupid marketing strategy.
  11. Don't see how Yohio is crazy for that PV part either. Going "mad" was (and I think still is) one of the fav clihcées in visual kei. Seremedy just put all stereotypes you can find in japanese PVs into their own video. Don't like this band though... Seremedy were mediocre and this thing sounds even more like 08/15 Metalcore, which i find totally boring and uninteresting. And I dislike the way Seike sings... And I really don't get any visual kei vibes from neither the song nor the video. The only thing that's visual here is Seike's hair. (but maybe I have no idea how VK anno 2008/09 sounds)

Ist Deutschland also so streng? Oder ist Österreich nur so nett?

Thanks Hyura X3 Really interesting what La'Mule based their songs of.
  14. GISHOOO *___* *fangirl mode activated* I missed him too... he is one of my fav vk bassists. Good to see him back too!

Yeah... I actually think the photo doesn't look so bad. I guess the bad taste it emits comes from what it portrays (fetish motives are really hard to pull off seriously). But the Typo bothers me as well... especially the spacing of the worlds. They did it to make the typo look more interesting, but it just looks bad.
  16. Dir en grey's next album has to be a Dragon Ball Z Tribute album plz
  17. I wish there was an option for preferring shaved guys that doesn't sound so extreme. I personally like men without beards more (generally men who shave also their legs. Yeah I also like feminine guys) but it's not like I feel total disgust and need to throw up when a guy has a beard or stubbles. I just don't like it as much.

^ the idea is pretty awesome actually Proud single over here too. I haven't find a single person yet i was interested into (neither sexually nor emotionally or mentally). And I like to be alone and having the whole day for myself. I guess that's also why I don't have many friends because too many people interferring in my daily plans would make me crazy. I also rather stay at home doing stuff than go to parties- except it's with one of my few but really good friends. But I'd hate to do things with a person who clinches me like a dog and where saying "I don't want to see you for the next 8 days" isn't so easy... Or maybe I am just too egoistic, I don't know.

Wut. That blood pic reminds me very much of those hardxore "visus" from Liveyournal (back when this site wasn't a ship wreck). Sry, but it's just... nope. And I hope it's at least ketchup and not period blood.

Sounds good. Their album wasn't bad but I felt the music sounded rather flat (could be the compositions though) so I hope they will release something new (and maybe they start progress a bit with this new line-up)
  22. Ikna

Wish they would start to record actual new things...

Thanks as always Hyura for your awesome translations X3 Hm... I think there aren't any translations for Knife or eccentric Marxist, right?

It depends... last year I did only spend ca. 50€ for CDs, but this year already more than 120€. It helps a lot that the Euro is stronger than the Dollar or Yen which means I get the stuff cheaper (especially the shippinh which is the main reason why I don't buy japanese CDs so often)
  25. Sad to hear. Mirage were great and Ayame was cool :/
