This is a 9/10. The songs from Side A really drive home a violent outlook from where the band is going. Side B is probably the strongest out of the other half, with more melody, and "bigger" composition -- save for "Ranunculus", which doesn't even fit on the album. Feels tacked on.
  2. I dunno man, despite the mixing, this album really shines where their strong points are. I HATED MOAB, and i think people likening it to that are just basing it off of the harsh vocals. This album is pretty great. Still think Ranunculus doesn't fit on the album.
  3. What do you mean "Can't sell well"? Also yeah, here's hoping for a bunch of other stuff they were sitting on in the studio. Just please, no more Dan Lancaster. This album is so unnecessarily loud in some spots, due to the poor use of the compressor/limiter.

I mean, Die has had the most flash for a while now.
  5. I mean...yeah. Even Keigaku no Yoku is pretty descript as far as a funeral procession goes.
  6. Hush, you're a godsend. Thanks for clearing it up.
  7. @seelantau could let us know; he moderates them, right?
  8. I feel bad because i provoked it. Sorry @suji
  9. Keibetsu to Hajimari had me shook upon first listen, and Zetsuentai just really opened things up at the end of the album. This album is just the craziest work.

I'm at a public gathering, and i have never cackled with joy more.

Yanno what? In my defense, i have been drinking. Also, "Wake" 2018 is the greatest thing ever. Fight me.

In top 5: 05. Aka 04. Values of Madness 03. Keigaku no Yoku 02. Zetsuentai 01. Keigaku no Hajimari Remakes are all top tier too. I even set up a little playlist with the most recent remakes all in one.
  13. I hate having almost data, i need to listen to these remakes, like now. Who has the ability to wrap them up for a guy? Also, Hot Takes for Hot Cakes: I've been listening to this album through my Harmon Kardon monitors, EQ'd so there's a bit more on the high end, and it sounds incredible for it.
  14. I like what @geist said though --- Dir en grey has always had terrible mixing jobs. Or at least overtly compressed to the point of no return. Ain't their first rodeo.
  15. I love these songs, it's all I've ever wanted from them. But man, do i feel that. Where's the breathing room?
  16. Yeo. For real though, what was the band thinking? Seriously brick walled.
  17. I've been listening to this album in my sleep. I'm a big fan of how this album opens up at the end, but i really don't like "Ranunculus".
  18. We went from "WTF THIS ALBUM" to being severely underwhelmed.
  19. I get it. I see y'all. @Ro plz, i need you to agree here, bro.
  20. Uhhh... Have we all read the lyrics? Is Kyo okay? Did anyone read the PHY interview? Seriously, is Kyo okay?
  21. 2nd listen through. My favorites are: - Keibetsu to Hajimari - Rubbish Heap - Aka - Zetsuentai Every song is amazing, in their own ways. Gotta digest it some more, but this is definitely my favorite Dir en grey album, ever.
  22. Too much of a good thing could be detrimental to their approach to human darkness.

    Really, you're better off.
