I love the unifying red hair, it looks good on everyone. Outfits are definitely a bit all over the place, with Shiyu and Api looking the most out of place and confused. Overall not bad, but it looks a little lazy imo.

I really wish they would, hoping for it too.

It's to be expected with Tenten and I can't say this has been anywhere near my favorite of his longer lasting bands, but still... I'll pay attention to whatever he does, he's a talented artist and surrounds himself with cool people, I just don't think he'll ever blow me away again or do anything long lasting.

I'm going to have to think on this one and come back at some point, but off of the top of my head- The guitar work on older Ayabie combined with Aoi's vulnerable vocal performances is what made me fall in love with them originally. Melodic, nostalgic and emotive. D have a ton of great guitar driven songs and memorable solos, this is one of my favorite older picks. Gets me pumped and feeling badass every time. and finally, my favorite Matenrou Opera song. Guitars are speedy, impressive and appropriately epic throughout, slowly amping up to an amazing climax. Vocals deserve a special nod for being theatrical without being ott and overshadowing the rest of the song.

I've got my ticket for LA and I'm most likely going alone! I'm not close to anyone still interested in the scene lol, it would be nice to do a meet up for LA peeps! But even if that doesn't happen I'll going to make a conscious effort to socialize.

Lots of good recommendations listed. Of the bands already covered I'm personally watching and invested in Kizu, Mathilda, DIMLIM, GRIMOIRE, Verxina, Mamireta and Asty. フシアナ is a new band I'm paying attention to that I see a lot of potential in and hasn't gotten a lot of attention. They aren't doing anything new or complicated and just like Asty their vocalist has some obnoxious moments, but overall their first mini and previous output as ハクビシン showcase a well executed throwback to mid-late 2000s kote-osa that's been missing from the scene for awhile now. If anyone is digging Mathilda's music and can make some allowances for vocal performance then I highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already.

I'm watching Promised Neverland week to week. I'm already following the manga, so no twists or surprises for me, it's a really well done adaptation so far though. I like the manga a lot, but the anime may end up being the superior way to experience it. The addition of sound and clever direction are elevating the material a bit. I love the op too!

Whaaaa, I had no idea about the QR codes! Futaba's palace was my favorite dungeon too, so you think I would have noticed or heard something before now lol. Any ideas on what Persona 5 R is going to be? I'm assuming just an enhanced rerelease like Golden, but I kind of love the ridiculous ideas people are throwing out, like it being a racing game.

Yeah, I had fun with the latest episode in the moment but like... nothing changed. As much as I like Latrice, she shouldn't have come back. She wasn't bringing it like I know she can. I love delusional Villaintina, honestly 2019 goals to be that. I get why she isn't everyone's cup of tea tho

Persona 5 was so damn good, my favorite jrpg from the last gen of consoles by far. Do you like it so far? I'm clearing out my backlog, then I'm jumping into Vesperia too! Never got around to playing it on 360, I've heard it's one of the best tales games overall. Also, going to try playing with someone else for the first time.

Good point, they're a live band, actual releases don't seem like their priority.

Best to boot him if he's lacking motivation, I see potential in them. I hope it pans out and they find a decent replacement.

I literally just listened to that album over the weekend for the first time, I wasn't blown away but I got enjoyment out of it. here were some catchy riffs and fun moments. Too bad, I was looking forward to following them 😕

Great writeup everyone. Of the stuff I didn't give a try out to last year, the emmurée track convinced me I've been sleeping way too hard on them. Beautiful vocals and seductive guitars I'm in love. I enjoyed a lot of the stuff listed here. I may have a bit of a skewed perspective because I was out of the loop for years, but looking back on the last year of vk/j-w/e has made it clear that there's still plenty of talented artists making interesting music in the scene. 2019 looks like it'll be just as fun to watch!

Amazing album! I wouldn't have realized today marked it's 30th if you hadn't posted, about to go listen to it in a bit. I may be an outlier, but I can't stand JUST ONE MORE KISS, something about it always made me uncomfortable lol. The rest of this album is great tho, with my favorites being ICONOCLASM, TOKYO and TABOO.

It's pretty clear they've been struggling for quite a long time. Production on most of their recorded music has been spotty at best. Waka sounds great at least, she has real talent.
