Nice work with some of the baroque-inspired instrumentals. With the songs that you actually sing in, be careful with your phrasing--at some points during the chorus of "Disregard" you tended to drag a little. I'm not sure if that's a side effect of the vocal style you're trying to emulate or not, but other people who do sing in a similar manner, such as Juka or GPK, do tend to do the same as well (especially towards the end of a melodic sentence. Moi Dix Mois' first album was full of problems like this). Good phrasing can make a relatively boring song sound good, and poor phrasing can make a fantastic song sound muddy and awkward. Anyway, keep up the good progress!

Pretty much what the thread title implies: songs that have melodies taken from classical music ('classical' being used loosely here. Quite a few examples aren't classical and are either baroque or romantic). I'm making this because I want to see a compiled list, plus I'm tired of people saying 'this sounds like the melody of this song by __band name here__!!!' when said melody is actually not written by the aforementioned band at all. Most recent example that sparked me to actually do this: X's "Rose of Pain." Any sort of Japanese music is welcome as a contribution. ANYWAY, the list. I'll start it, and if people would like to add more to it just post and I'll get around to updating this post as like a master thread or something. I'll probably also make a Last.fm journal with tags so more people can add to it as well and so it will be easier to find. This original list are just a few examples that I can think of off the top of my head. When I come across more I'll definitely add to it. Cannot wait to type out the 203040524524542 examples of "In the Hall of the Mountain King!" ELE got a few bands signed to them recently it seems. Their OHP has more than DAS:VASSER, Ru:Natic, and that oshare-kei band listed.
-
Mucc's 'Ageha' for whatever reason, Grieva, and Dir en Grey's "Raison detre" have been my compulsive listens lately.
-
Does the title track translate to "Sweet right brain, spicy left brain?" I figured with a title like that, and that the special box comes with a menu and is called "full course" it would be about eating brains
-
Songs about eating brains--I guess the only logical topic after songs about abortion.

Whitney Houston is flailing in her grave. Yohio, stop. Also, he's wearing pink feathers and gloves with rhinestones in the shape of a heart heart, but kisses a girl in the video. Who are they trying to fool?

> Unacceptable.

I'll do a track by track once I've listened to it a few more times, but the highlights for me were 中絶 and 孤独人形症候群. Love the homages and blatant plagiarism and cannot wait to hear the new stuff they have in store. Also, adding to the list of things they've borrowed- has some elements 中絶 from La:Sadie's "Setsudan," which is probably why I thought it sounded like Ru:Natic the first time I listened to it

The only 'early' thing I really like from them is BLOT / Butterfly. Versus ~ Pressed Flower / White Pallet are what I know them best for.

GOD DAMN IT Alright. Thanks anyway.
-
Can't wait to pirate that CD.
-
I should actually listen to more than just D=Sire one day :-/
-
Do you have scans or at least album art of their demos? I've been looking on Yahoo.jp on and off for about a year and a half and haven't been able to find anything aside from their self titled or NeoCrimes.

That's kind of how I felt about E'm and Vior Gloire's song choice: a b-side and the song they released first, neither of which are the best both bands have to offer.
-
I think he was more upset that you worded it in a dismissive way and not so much that you're not a fan.
-
Was there like...a method to picking those songs? Some of them just kind of seem random.
-
All music is at some level a copy of something else, and the idea of emulating a popular style is by no means unique to the visual-kei industry: it's just more blatant since bands that copy or borrow from other ideas tend to look similar in addition to sounding similar. edit: originally wrote "almost is at some level..." whoops. I need to sleep more...

I'm excited.

The -OZ- song is new, correct?
-
So is everyone over that he doesn't look like a Lisa Frank abortion anymore, or just less upset about it?

Yaaay CalorZe's guitarist. Lol Erina.

Oh wow, that's an old D song.
